What I love about this game is that this is one of those rivalries where neither school has the slightest bit of respect for the other. Texas-Oklahoma have respect for each other. Michigan-Ohio state have respect for each other. This is one of those home/home rivalry games that you wouldn’t be surprised to turn into a true fight at any given moment. Rivalries with true disdain just hit different than other games. To me this is right behind Auburn-Alabama in that regard. I’m feeling the same excitement as you, Lou!🎉🎉😮

I understand exactly what you meant when you talked about having those Thanksgiving memories associated with college football. I grew up watching this game at my grandmas house on Thanksgiving Day. I’m now going into my senior year at Texas A&M and I actually get emotional thinking about how it will be my last football game as a student. I love college and have been watching since I can remember in ‘86-‘87 seasons around that. Even then I never understood why games weren’t played on the field. I for one and glad the playoffs are around and larger. I know throughout the 100 plus years there would be quite a few teams with 2-3 losses that would’ve won it all. Doesn’t have to happen all the time to justify it. Even throughout history if it was 10-20 times that’s great.

Been watching for 8 years. I need to call in soon.

well majority of texas' wins came before segregation but after that, the lone star showdown has always been close and a top 3 rivalry in cfb and maybe the most heated rivalry in cfb. in my life time living in Texas even when they weren't playing its still back and forth in person and on social media between those two schools. And yes its a bigger rivalry than the red river showdown, ask any Texas fan above the age of 24 what school they hate the most

First of all. OU didn't take away the Bedlam game. OSU is choosing not to play the game because they're being petty and bitter. As well because of mike Gundy. He has his reasons of why he doesn't want to play the game. But the truth is, he doesn't want to continue playing the game because he has a losing track record against OU. The AD and the president at OU made it very clear that they would love to continue playing the game. And said it could still work because there's plenty of in state rivalry games being played that are not in the same conference. It's so lazy to blame a team of why certain rivalry games are not continuing to be played because one program decided leave for a different conference. And automatically makes their fault. Instead of looking up and finding out more information about the situation. So go fuck yourself.

Nebraska Oklahoma was the only game on thanksgiving for decades.....

Sorry Lou but Oregon vs tOSU on Oct. 12 in Autzen stadium will be by far the best game of the year. Likely match-up of two top five teams. Lots of BIG championship and playoff implications. TAMU likely won’t even be in the top 20 when they play Texas. Nothing on the line really except bragging right in Texas. Who cares??

You don’t seem very knowledgeable about southern football in general. This game will dictate the recruiting landscape for the years to come. A&M and Texas has the most money. This is a culture defining game that will shape the south. Including teams like LSU OU ARKANSAS FLORIDA ETC.

I’d say my Dawgs and Texas is much more relevant for the CFP but for the State of Texas, it’s UTx and A&M that will be the game of the year.

Texas A&M got sick of losing to us and not having access to the best recruits (we kept taking them away) so they joined the SEC, running away from us, and making up reasons as to why they did that aren't relevant to why they left.
