I read some comments before saying what Noir said at the end is actually "The masked finally breaks/crack" and the translation was off. this could further be explained as the reason why Noir's arm got cut and the Mask did not break is spoiler it wasn't meant to break just yet, since the mask surpass time, and there are absolute points in time that have to happen so instead of breaking (which it wasn't meant just yet) to compromise Noir's arm was damaged instead. and Noir was watching Shizu(yes this is canon) for a long time to see when it will break. As you can see Noir took interest in Rimuru only when the mask breaks because it means something relating to time is connected to Rimuru as the mask was finally allowed to break by the laws of time.

Where was all this information, I don't recall seeing it before? And I read the beginning more than once.

The first encounter between Noir and Rimuru, as said, was one-sided and is referring to the fact that Noir had been tracking the Anti-Magic Mask and Shizu and therefore was watching from the shadows when Shizu died which drew Noir's attention to its new owner Rimuru who he became fascinated with. As revealed in the final scene, Rimuru will later summon Noir under unknown circumstances and name him Diablo. Tremble in terror at what would drive Rimuru so close to the edge that he would summon a being like Noir and actually give him a name (which as we know greatly accelerates a monster's evolution). --- The reason giving a demon a name is such a big deal, even moreso than other monsters is because Demons have a limit to how strong they can get in each evolutionary stage and normally they need a name to even evolve into Archdemons (the Primordial Demons are an exception to this rule). Demons can increase their knowledge of magic (a demon's greatest weapon), skills and techniques but they inevitably hit a level cap that they can't overcome unless they evolve. Being Primordial entities, the Progenitors were effectively born as Archdemons and hit their level cap early on leaving them to just improve in other areas they become interested in to satisfy their boredom. By being named, this will allow them to overcome their limits and evolve even beyond Archdemon which is why the idea that Rimuru would name one is such a big deal and is bound to cause a lot of controversy when that day inevitably arrives.

@@eugeneabatayo3383 Actually Demons have a hard limit to the amount of raw power they can obtain in each evolutionary stage. Even the Primordials were merely Archdemons and not Demon Peers or Demon Gods before being named, obtaining permanent material bodies and eventually Awakening. What demons can do is improve their skills, arts and knowledge of magic. This is why when fighting a demon, it's important to ascertain its age, whether its Modern (0-400 years old) or Primordial (born during the dawn of time) or anything in-between. The older a demon the more abilities and knowledge it potentially possesses. When summoning a demon, it then becomes important to determine its Color Lineage. Depending on what Color Lineage a Demon belongs to, their personality and willingness to cooperate can change. There are three major dispositions that are based on their Primordials: -Negotiable: Can be negotiated with and are probably the best bet when it comes to contracting with a Demon while keeping the risks at a minimum. -Non-negotiable: It is unlikely for any contract to be formed. At worst, the summoner might even be tricked into a wicked contract that they end up regretting, which is why it's strongly discouraged to summon any Demons from this type of Lineage. The only practical use for them would be to trick someone into summoning a Demon of this kind within an enemy nation. -Whimsical: The result of summoning Demons of these Lineages can vary and the chances of success for establishing a contract are random. These Demons can be reckless and are subject to mood-swings. Their eccentric nature makes them more likely to possess proficiency in areas that other lineages do not possess. There is a risk associated with summoning them, but it is still safer than summoning non-negotiable ones. Red: Non-Negotiable Green: Negotiable Blue: Negotiable Black: Whimsical White: Negotiable Yellow: Non-Negotiable Violet: Whimsical

@@eugeneabatayo3383 Demons (and this goes for the Primordials as well; Primordial refers to nothing but their age and means they were born at the dawn of time and has nothing to do with their evolution) can only evolve beyond Archdemon into a Demon Peer if they obtain a material body (aka not a body created from magic; ex. Diablo gained one from the mass sacrifice of corpses given to him by Rimuru) and a name. Devil Lords or Demonic Gods (both are used for the name of the evolutionary stage) are the final stage of evolution for Demons. They only come into existence when a powerful demon meets all 3 requirements of a "name", "body", and "awakening". They're beings of monstrous power and even have the potential to stand on even footing with True Dragons. The Seven Primordials are the only demons who have evolved into Devil Lords as of Volume 20 of the LN. Aside from Guy Crimson (who obtained the form on his own), all the other primordials evolved into Devil Lords through Rimuru by using a secret artificial awakening technique developed by Raphael. Even Guy Crimson couldn't evolve Rain and Misery into Devil Lords with his knowledge, proving just how difficult the secret technique was. Guy tried to learn the secret technique but Rimuru used Diablo to keep him distracted.

Tbh, Noir/Kuro/Diablo is one of the most beloved Tensura characters, and I agree why that is. I greatly, GREATLY look forward to your season 2 journey. It includes one of the best arcs in anime.

I don't know if the anime will include the following information in future seasons or just make references to this info so here information on the Demonic Social Structure: Demons gain stronger power as they live longer. Demons who have reached a certain level reach the upper limit of the amount of possessed magicules, eventually making them numerically equivalent in terms of raw power. Knowledge and experience are the things that matter from there. In other words, the difference in proficiency becomes the difference in combat ability. -Late Modern Species (Chevaliers): 0-30 years of age, they are the most likely to be summoned and they can operate up to the Archdemon stage. At best they can barely reach a Special A ranking based on Free Union evaluation. -Modern Species (Baronets): 30-100 years of age, they are the most likely to be summoned and they can operate up to the Archdemon stage. At best they can barely reach a Special A ranking based on Free Union evaluation. -Early Modern Species (Barons): 100-400 years of age, they are considered Special A-rank monsters but possess far more strength than Chevaliers and Baronets. -Medieval Species (Viscounts): 400-1,000 years of age, they are a genuine Calamity-Class threat. Despite having the same ranking as the younger Demons, Viscounts are far superior to the Barons. At this rank, the Demons reach their magicule limit. -Ancient Species (Counts): Above 1,000 years of age, they are able to disguise their strength. If they manage to break their Magicule limit, their power becomes natural. -Prehistoric Species (Dukes and Archdukes): Above 3,000 years of age, if they are incarnated Prehistoric Demons they can easily break through their Magicule limit and evolve into Demon Peers. -Primordials: Born during the dawn of time before the creation of heaven and earth, they are the apex of Demon kind. They are the only Demons who can evolve into the final stage of Demon evolution and can only do so if they have a name, are physically incarnated into a body and undergo awakening. ------ Daemons have their own evolutionary stages, which, unlike their Social Class, is much more prone to external factors within the Material World, like the quality of the contractual compensation, the magicule supply of the summoner, the presence or lack of a name, etc. Naming leads to an immediate strength gain and/or Skill gain and in case of a particularly strong namer, an evolution to the next stage might occur: -Lesser Demon -> Greater Demon -> Diable Chevalier or Archdemon -> Archdemon -> Demon Peer -> Demon God

@Angel_Rod Chances are they will not include all of this information, if past is prologue. I don't have the time to research this topic enough to discuss a few things I found a bit iffy, but I will throw out a couple of tidbits into the mix. I'm pretty sure that being undefeated/ never having died is a factor in being able to surpass your magicule limit. Also, Lesser Demons have no color, and look the least humanoid; I think they are unintelligent, too. When they become Greater Demons, that is when they take on color. I don't know if they choose it or it becomes their color because their nature matches the Progenitor/ Primordial of that color. It is said Black has few members of his family. The demons become more and more humanlike as they progress along this scale. The next stage is Archdemon, which normally means having a name. As you say, Primordials maybe can become Archdemon even without a name. I reread one section but it looks unclear to me how to interpret it (at least in English). Demons inhabit the Demon Realm, which is a purely spiritual realm. To stay in the Tensura world, it needs a physical body. The bodies of the Silver Wings served that purpose, but it was temporary. When Kuro lost an arm, that was why it came back. If you damage the body enough, the demon will have to go back to the Demon World, until summoned again. When Kuro says, who has summoned me here from such a lowly station?, he is referring to the fact that summoning a high-level demon is dangerous because it could be (probably is) something beyond your control, and you risk dire consequences. And finally, I never heard of the "Diable". Is there an alternate translation?

@@jackwitt7430 I knew about Chevalier, but not Diable. But I see a trend that is not carried forward consistently: French terminology. Diable is French for Devil or Demon, same as Diablo is Spanish. And Chevalier is French for Knight. So I see the author got into a pattern of naming Demons in French.

My guess, you're gonna pick OVA 2.

Diablo is double meaning for Devil but also for "Lamborghini Diablo" supercar. This isn't a spoiler btw as this was never stated in the anime and it's one of those details that will make sense later on if you know it. Throughout the series, he is referred to as Kuro/Black/Noir which has the same meaning just in 3 different languages (japanese/english/french). some reactors get confused by this.

When Diablo said "Red" he meant the Red primordial Demon Guy Crimson

Diablo is toying with Shizu here btw, he's capable of taking out S3 Hinata easily even as he is at that point in that ep, unnamed as he is. His knowledge over magic is truly unparalleled and maybe rivalled by a few individuals who've been around just as long and are more powerful (only in case of hax abilities like time stop which Diablo can't do yet but otherwise he's unmatched in all things magic and is one of, if not the most skilled and experienced with it). His processing performance with his unique skill Wiseman is already so good that, it was almost as fast as Raphael. He's so right when he says "knowing will only bring you despair, if you knew at all , that is" haha. He could be anywhere from 4000 to 30000 years old or more. Older than even Milim and Veldora and has been around since around the beginning of the world and the system. After naming and his further evolutions, even Rimuru was nervous about him. Rimuru being the biggest idiot to underestimate himself, always managing to let others walk over him and make him do their bidding as you'll see, even though the others know Tempest gets incomparably stronger throughout the story, they still try to manipulate him for their benefits and with Rimuru being such a wimpy pacifist bitch 98% of the time, that's what ends up happening and he ends up doing most of the work with the others profiting the most from it. Way down the line he says things like, this guy is so powerful he's stronger than Clayman...but Clayman got rekt by Shion lol, like even after turning into a TDL, he still thinks Hinata can take him down when that's simply not the case and is just him severely underestimating himself and not making full use of his skillset. In an alternate timeline, a pre- true demon lord Rimuru managed to draw with Hinata when they fought but in this one, he was never caught in the field/ambushed while going from the kids back to Tempest. Rimuru never wanted to kill a student of Shizu and only wanted to somehow make her stop fighting so they could talk, do remember that when s3 comes out and you see the fight. Otherwise, it's so one-sided she'd not have a chance at all.

I foresee another member of Diablo Fan Federation. 😂🖤🧛‍♂️

It's both. He wanted both demonic name and super car name for him. So Lamborghini Diablo was choosen.

Past 2 episodes get a bit too spoilery in a way, but they're so well written, I always overlook that flaw. Anyways, shit about to get real, real fast and it only gets better!
