@@stevebanning902 yeah no disrespect to real life drivers but it's a lot easier to go right up to the very limit when you're sitting in your room looking at a monitor and also not risking many thousands of dollars worth of machinery. it's probably not even very good rally strategy to go that hard all the time and risk a catastrophic crash

What real drivers can do with WRC cars, only few ppl can do in simulator.

In all other rally games when you watch from the outside, you can see how the rear wheels appear to have no actual friction and rebound and recovery is totally fake. In RBR though, everything looks so real, despite the obsolete graphics. Driving experience was also beyond anything. It was a difficult game to play, but the best rally simulator.

This mostly applies to the Codemasters offering..., that stuttery gutless handling model makes the cars look like deranged supermarket trolleys in replays.

It’s crazy to me how planted the cars look. It’s like they are really on the surface

Im baffled and pleasantly surprised that game that has almost 20 years and uses stock images for crowds is this good, mostly from drivers POV. also there is Luke Skywalker in pilot outfit at 6:28

This game is so old by now, but it still delivers tihs speed and "on the edge" feel like noting else. I was driving Dirt Rally 2 an hour ago, its nice looks good and so on, but it lacks this feeling of danger and speed this old gem still has. Even the Replays of Dirt Rally 2 are looking a bit boring and slow. Back in the day i was racing RBR every day, but have not raced it in about 12 years or so. Just unbelievable that da game from 2004s simualtion scene still holds up today. Thanks for the video, very well made and nice to wacth,

Yea, there have been some pretty good rally games recently but look at the replays. RBR is the only game that actually looks realistic when watching replays, it's crazy how well behaved the physics are. When you are driving it can feel like ice sometimes but when you watch the replays it looks so natural. It's not perfect but it's crazy how an indie team from 20 years ago made such a masterpiece. I still have a physical disc from this game, got it in like 2007 because I don't know it existed until then. I have been playing it on and off ever since and Will never get bored of it.

Imho, RBR is the only game that ever managed to accurately depict physics of driving a car on the stage. Together with layout of the stages, as narrow as in real life. You can go a little bit sideways, you probably need to, to win, and you can do crazy stuff like braking one side of car on tarmac and the other on grass to send it into full opposite lock. It was very difficult though and required training.

this game was so ahead of its time

I've been way from sim racing for 10 years, but in January, EA WRC made me come back to Rally Sims. I really enjoyed the game and was having a blast, until I decided to reinstall RBR with Rally Sim Fans mod. I guess I forgot how good and realístico this game is. After 2 weeks with RBR, going back to EA WRC, felt like the game was so easy and unrealistic. I guess some things never change and RBR Will allways be the go Rally Sim, at least for those of us that prefer realistic sims. It's the only rally game, that takes you feel like you have to control your desire for flating out every stage. We Will never have another rally sim like this, because they make games for the masses nowadays. When they say it's a mix beetween realismo and arcade, or that you can deactivate driving aids for a bigger challenge, just forget it, it will not be a RBR experience.

Best rally sim. Period.

Well you can't. You can have free cam after pressing f9 :)

this game has much better physics than the overrated Dirt Rally and you can actually damage your car and be unable to finish the stage - a non-existent option in dirt Rally

Also double right click will open a menu where you can change the speed of the replay. (I am almost sure it is like that but it can be the other way around-the left click for speed and right click for position etc.)

@@piotrmalewski8178 in terms of car damage? yes, cars in ea wrc are made from rubber. But in therms of phisics? I don't think so. If you compare Assetto Corsa, which is regarded as one of the most accurate sims on tarmac, EA Sport WRC and RBR, than AC and WRC are now pretty similar in terms of the feel. In RBR it is very hard to feel the road, tire model seems really 2D to me, FFB is quationable. I think lot of players think, that harder to control = more realistic, which is not always the case.
