While you and the fire keeper can be very close as here in the picture you touch the dark essence in her to make the souls you take give your soul power so you can rekindle the first flame and hold back the dark. The problem is it is the nature of fire to die. The darkness is inevitable.

While DS3 is overall better, the begining of DS2 is more climatic.

Yes! That is my favorite piece of music so far. And I actually wish the Hobbit movie had been able to have the Dwarves sing so. It was so epic to hear on this video.
