  I’ve overcome so much in the last 4 years to losing my father during the pandemic and losing my mother last year and just recently lost one of my sisters in law a couple weeks ago …medical issues ..2 surgeries and I’m still standing I listen to this at my job and sometimes it puts me in my feels ❤ keep on rocking… ❤

  The enemy was at the gate. We fought them on the walls, in the streets, saw then slaughter your friends, your families and now they were hammering at the last gate. We were an exhausted, beaten and bleeding mess. Then, the Princess how lost her father on the walls, her brothers in the streets, stood in front of the gate and looked at us. Her calm voice projected over the screams and tears from outside "Man, we have lost this fight. There is no denying this." The gate behind her cracked under the onslaught "Those man hammering at this gate will go on to plunder, murder and burn our kingdom, our people." The gate cracked again "They will kill us all - or do worse." Crack "But every last one we kill here is one less the next town has to face." Crack "So lets show them what it means to face us, to attack our home" Crack. I do not remember when or how, but i stood by my princesses side at that moment when she bellowed "Lets kill as many as we can!" Crack! She then turned to me and whispered "And you, my old friend, make sure i do not fall into there hands alive!" The gate was breached with the next blow. We fought like demons that day. No one ran, no one quit, we held the line. Were one fall, the next steeped into the gap. Then, at nightfall of that day, i saw in front of me only broken corpses. The line had held. And my princess lay behind me. She lost her sword arm that day. She won our hearts that bloody day. We would never follow her again - but each and every one of us survivors of that day would lead in her name. All but me - i was chosen to guard her ... but that is another story. -------------- "What are you writing there again?" I hid the papers and turned around "Nothing!"
