LYRICS
VERSE 1
Willing and waiting
To come back from the edge
But the look in her eyes says she's leaving
Things I should have been saying
That I swallowed instead
How a silence can be so deceiving
PRE CHORUS
So we've begun the crawl
Trying to break the fall
Some kind of wrecking ball we turned out to be
CHORUS
This is on me
VERSE 2
Caught at the ending
And all I have is the hurt
Have I made him forget how to love me?
Now it crumbles and crashes (Maybe there's hope for us yet)
Til we're one with the earth (A way we can make this thing work)
And some phoenix may rise from these ashes (Again)
But the fire comes first
PRE CHORUS
Love we've begun the crawl
How do we break the fall?
Some kind of wrecking ball it turned out to be
CHORUS
This is on me
This is on me
This is on me
This is on me

I come back to this video time and time again. For me, it's the anthem of a failed marriage. This song has so much pain and longing and feeling in it. It simply slays me. And I guess I come back to it every few weeks to remind myself that I deserve the pain. She made mistakes too, but to me, all that matters is the mistakes I made. If I had only tried harder, listened harder. For those of you that have it, don't let it slip away if it's real. Peace out

I know how you feel. This is my anthem of my failed my marriage. I feel I deserve the pain too and all I see is my mistakes and it's hard to reconcile the loss of a meaningful relationship. It will be a hard day when I sign away this connection I have had with someone I have know half of my life. If I had talked to him more, if I let him in, if he knew when I was breaking, if we REALLY talked... There's so many regrets. I also want to "rise from the ashes" as a whole person from this life lesson and painful journey. I have to remember that it took the both of us to make a marriage and it took the both of us to break it. We're taking our own paths. Marriage is hard work but it is so worth it when it is real and when you make it real; if you have it, cherish the union. Feed it with genuine love and care and active concern. Have a blessed day.

Sounds like you are ready to take responsibility for your mistakes, learn from them and do things differently next time. Maybe you will be ready to work at it when a good, healthy, happy relationship comes your way. If that's true, no need to beat yourself up, or shy away from love next time. 🤞🙏 Best wishes!

Failed relationships are the hardest lessons to go through but we get to find forgiveness for ourselves and learn what's inside of us that's not serving anyone involved then do the work to let go of old conditioning and outdated programs of connection and communication Stepping into our darkness to understand and nurture and release it from us so we can bring in clarity and new healthy positive ways of thinking and being. To have a relationship with our soul and mind first before brining others into our hearts again so we can become the truest better version of ourselves. I'm going through a very hard break up at the moment but I'm doing what's needed to help us let go of things that broke us and each other for my own heart to keep functioning and do what's needed for my soul and journey I'm in alone now

I come back to this song ever so often. To me its a song about redemption. I found this song when my wife cheated on me (12 years married at that point). If it werent for the kids, I would have left her. "Some phoenix may rise from these ashes, but the fire comes first" was a perfect fit for the pain and betrayal I was feeling. We fought thru it and fought for the relationship. Neither of us is perfect, and although her mistake was a really big one, grace allowed me to forgive. The pain really never does go away, and distrust (from me to her) is a fight in myself, the phoenix did rise, and our relationship is strong. For those in the same spot as me, remember that redemption and forgiveness is possible after the pain.

@timeflies313 Or sleeping with them again??? Ick. 🤢🤮 I agree - I couldn't do it. Life is too short to be with someone who doesn't love you. I'm a woman, and while I shouldn't try to speak for all women, I honestly don't know any women who if they are seriously in love with a man could ever cheat on them. And for 2 people to stay in a relationship "for the kids" is just lying to them, and to themselves.

I feel that this song is about a relationship that lacks communication. He starts off: "willing and waiting to come back from the edge, but the look in her eyes says she's leaving" -- notice how desperate his words are but his voice remains somewhat calm and I can sense a feeling of numbness. He blames himself “this is on me”. She feels the numbness in his voice and assumes that he no longer feels anything for her so she then asks herself “have I made him forget how to love me? She too, blames herself “this is on me”. Instead of communicating they both assume what the other person wants and feels - “things I should have been saying that I swallowed, how the silence can be deceiving”. Weird how they’re sitting right next to each other yet the song/lyrics created distance between them.

@@hieunguyenlethanh These names come from a German TV series called “Schloss Einstein“ (castle Einstein, it's a school). In the 23rd season two characters named Till and Martha, who hated each other in the 22nd season, have a great character development and fall in love with each other, but it's a little complicated since she has a boyfriend and they both hurt each other several times with words until they finally get rid of all the struggle and fights. This is the song which played when they had their first real kiss and got together. At the end of the year they leave the school together to live somewhere else. Short version: It's a couple from a TV series. Tillartha is their ship name.

I lost my best friend around the time I heared this song for the first time. Couldn't be closer to the heart, I've sang and listened to the song many times to process the loss. Two of my favorite singers, ever, performing this was a huge comfort during this time. It's been 4 years now, but the song reminds me of him. Still miss him every day. Thank you for sharing your gifts with the world, you beautiful people. ❤

This song used to be my place of calm, the beautiful song of my favorite singer with a guy who did that awesome video to get her to sing with him and then did song this with her - how awesome and hopeful is that? I couldn't help but love this song! Then it became my breakup song... Better said, the song that was stuck in my head while we created an abyss between us that we couldn't get through or "raise from the ashes" only the fire came. It's both healing and heartbreaking to hear it because it is a perfect description of what we went through. Part of me likes to have a "soundtrack" to such a moment and another feels like the worst about breakups is how many songs get "tainted" by it.

I don’t completely relate to the lyrics of the song, but the melody is exactly how it feels to lose someone you love. Wonderfully bittersweet.

Willing and waiting to come back from the edge, but the look in her eye says she's leaving. Things I should have been saying that I swallowed instead. How a silence can be so deceiving. And so we've begun the crawl. Trying to break the fall. Some kind of wrecking ball it turned out to be. Some kind of wrecking ball it turned out to be. This is on me. Caught at the ending and all I have is the hurt. Have I made him forget how to love me? Now it crumbles and crashes. Maybe there's hope for us. Until we're one with the other. A way we can make this thing work. And some phoenix may rise from these ashes. But the fire comes first. Love we've begun to crawl. How do we break the fall. Some kind of wrecking ball it turned out to be. This is on me This is on me This is on me This is on me.

@@AdamJMusic23 Isn't Sara just out of this world? She's no Ella Fitzgerald..and yet she is captivating; SO unique! Her writing is incredible; her voice in mid-range is amazing. The songs that don't get much attention are my favs: like this one with Ben "This is On Me". And if you haven't really listened to "Send Me the Moon", please do. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hK2KmJhuY6i7ecY.html. Should have been nominated for a Grammy this year for "She Used to Be Mine"....kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z2d7q6N9eNu8qrA.html
