This video is my last review of free or gifted products. While I’m massively grateful for the products I’ve been sent in the past, I feel the time is right to switch to only reviewing products that have been chosen and bought by me.
Most “KZreadrs” give honest and fair reviews of free products, but if you haven’t paid for it out of your own pocket how can you give a 100% unbiased review? You’ve got no skin in the game. Unconscious bias can also creep in here.

While I do like all your content - presented in a cool calm and measured, no bullshit way - I'm also a huge fan of your humor. Therefore I look forward to ALL your content.

I agree completely, youtube has become obsessed with gear and spending lots of money. Some people think hiking and camping is a fashion parade. All the gear and no idea. It doesn't matter how much money you spend on your tent or your technical t-shirt, it doesn't make you more experienced. I like your parody videos too😊

Many of us receive numerous emails offering free items in exchange for video reviews. By creating a video for a "free" item worth no more than a few hundred, the brands save a significant amount of money. Typically, a quality product review, like the ones you made, if they hired an editor and videographer would cost around £400-500 These companies send mass emails to many creators, and as seen on KZread, many accept and make video reviews for these free items. It is what it is.

I just don't think it's possible to be truly impartial if you've got no skin in the game. If you buy something, any niggles or problems that arise are way more personal and harder to overlook than if you've been given it for free IMO 😬

Gear reviews are near pointless really, until something's been used for a while there's no way to know how it will perform. I was using a smart water bottle but bought a new one with a stupid stuck on cap, didn't srew it on probably and got a wet bag. Onto trying a small CNOC bottle now. I do hope you keep up the funny videos though 😊

Good for you. I grew tired of watching people review 'free stuff'. Most people who have other outgoings - mortgage, rent, car repayments, technically ambitious teenagers etc have to choose wisely what to spend their drug dealing money on... Tell them to send me the free stuff and I'll sell it and split the money. £££££ :)

I like the terms sagage and droopage but I won't use the first with my wife in case she replies with the second.

I have the female version of that bag and I love it. It's a quirky thing, and I don't think it utilises the capacity great...other 35 ltr rucksacks I have can fit way more in, but I still use this a lot, especially for winter day mountain walks when I need more kit and love the easy access-perfect for photography/video equipment.
