This is Leadership | Joe Reichert | TEDxCherryCreek

Follow is the only word like it; to willingly go where someone else is. Leaders have followers, but the key to being a great leader is understanding why someone would choose to follow someone else. Leader relativity is founded on this principle, and bridges the gap between team and individual success. Joe was recently called to action after again seeing emerging leaders on his team let down by corporate leadership programs, churning out managers and not leaders. His remedy was simple: demystify leadership by defining what it actually is, and then share that with as many new leaders as humanly possible. This talk is that idea. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

“Being a leader is something separate - it’s completely independent of your occupation or the functional duties that define your job…You have to earn the leader role.” What an incredibly inspirational and insightful talk!!

Exactly. Speaking only for self-confidence would destroy the important part of a leader's role.

This is one of the best talks this year. An idea that's filled with common sense and insight, yet so few understand the basic concepts. Joe explained it with humor and wit!

If we have figured out how to identify people who are great leaders in everyday life and put them in positions of meaningful leadership, society would be so much better off.
