to get the the full effect of how low Geoff goes it's best to wear headphones

By his reaction, I am sure he has a good subwoofer. I will tell you, some of Geoff's low notes don't sound best in headphones... they sound best through an actual sound system. Now, the stereo panning effects VP uses on their recordings, yes, headphones sounds the best, but even the best headphones struggle with Geoff's lows notes; whereas, a full-sized subwoofer gives you a full-body experience. Until you've heard their cover of the "Halo" theme through a 15" subwoofer, you haven't lived, lol. It literally shakes my walls.

@@xfrostyresonance8614, when you "hear" super low frequencies in smaller drivers, it is partially your brain playing a trick on you; you're hearing the 2nd or 3rd harmonic stronger, but your brain is hearing it as the principle. This is why on old-school telephones, you knew a person's voice was deep, even though it wasn't directly producing the frequency. Source? That would be me. Yup, Geoff slid down 3 and 7/12 octaves to an E1 at the end there. He hits an E1 in several songs. Sometimes lower. They say he does a B0 in the Halo Theme vid, but I'm 72 and my hearing doesn't even go that low. You do need headphones to hear the fine detail in the vids of these groups.

One thing I don't think many people know is that Geoff trained Layne, the Beatboxer, in how to beatbox. So sometimes Geoff acts like a second beatboxer. A good example of this is their Little Mermaid Medley or the Moana Medley.

Voice play has been honing their craft for at LEAST 20 years and they sound JUST as good live as their video here suggests. I saw them live at WDW at the Christmas party and while they DO doubletrack some things for their videos and there is a true master sound mixer who does some things, the five members of Voice play do a TON of stuff all by themselves. Layne and Geoff tend to take turns (more or less) arranging songs for their videos, Eli (pronounced Ellee rhymes with Jelly) does the lighting and Geoff's wife handles production on a lot of his solo videos as well as the group ones. Earle has since left the group due to health concerns and J None (the one with the top knot) has joined the United States Navy. He DOES still make appearances when he is on leave though and appears in Friends on the Other Side and others as his time permits. They have recently added a new member named Ceasar De La Rosa who is WONDERFUL, and you have found the Voice Play rabbit hole at a particularly good time. This group has a knack of finding guest artists that not only fit into whatever performance they are doing; these people are crazy talented and one of Voice Play's greatest strengths is that they are all willing to let everyone shine. Anytime you hear a performance with a guest you can be sure that this person will be right up front and center and will literally KILL their part. Please DO explore all of the Voice Play catalog and I highly recommend getting a good pair of headphones so you can understand the subtle nuance they put into their productions. The best part of this group is that they are as genuine and nice as they seem, they care about their fans and are generous with their time and music. They don't care about your using their video in your reactions and unlike some artists, all the people associated with this group are the real deal. WELCOME to Voice Play, enjoy.

I really enjoyed this reaction. I don't blame you for wanting to be like Geoff! And it sounded to me like you actually did a pretty fair job of mimicking his and Layne's (the beatboxer) sounds. If I'm not mistaken, there are songs in which Geoff sings higher notes, and songs in which he sings lower notes. But I think this one gives the best in-your-face demonstration of just what a phenomenal range he has and how (seemingly) effortlessly he can go up and down the scale. Keep tuning in to his videos and VoicePlay's, you've only scratched the surface!

I subscribed as soon as you reacted to Misty Mountains Cold, thanx for jumping on Voiceplay right away! If you want to hear solo Geoff's (almost) full range, try High and Dry or Blackbird. Voiceplay does every genre, I'd try Dream On (Aerosmith) or Nothing Else Matters (Metallica) next. But really, check out anything that you think might interest you, you won't be disappointed, trust me. In this video, Santa was played by Geoff's brother in law, but the voice was done by the bald tenor in red, he is a great voice actor. The bearded tenor was with them from the beginning (1997) and left for undisclosed personal reasons in 2020. The black baritone was recruited by the US Navy to sing with them in 2021. They are short one permanent member, the baritone was replaced, and work seamlessly with featured artists. Holding my breath in anticipation!

I really enjoyed both your reactions to Geoff and Voice Play and am so glad I subscribed to your channel. Even though you don't normally listen to acapella music on your own, your background as an artist/musician and your interests in gaming, Viking culture, beatboxing, and appreciation for their production makes 'Voice Play' a likely favorite acapella group for you ('Pentatonix' is more current Pop music with difficult contract and record label and 'Home Free' has more of a Country/Folk style). Beatboxer, Layne Stein and former Baritone singer, Tony Wakim, own PattyCake Productions where most of Geoff and Voice Play's production takes place. You are going to love the beatboxer, Layne Stein, as much as you love Geoff. Geoff and beatboxer Layne have been best friends singing and performing together since they were 12 years old in Jr high school. They are all absolutely amazing and since they do it all themselves they have complete control of their creative expression. Based on your interests and statements I would recommend that you check out their cover of "Dragonborn Comes" from Skyrim, "My Mother Told Me" (Viking song from "Assassin's Creed") and "Hoist The Colours" from Pirates Of The Caribbean. You will not be disappointed and are well on your way to bringing in more "Voice Player's" (fans of Voice Play) and Geoff" to your channel while having so much fun.

He can hit more notes than a short keyboard, 5 octaves from C0 (2 notes from the last note) to the 5th... where tenors normally sing. We kind of laugh because he claims he is only a baritone with a good range, but he can comfortably sing any part except alto. His wife has hearing damage, so they always do the CC themselves and their editor will normally add at least one comment like that.

Great to see you went on to a VoicePlay cover. On this one, I'm amazed at how well the others sing character voices. Jumping back and forth from cartoonish up front to their normal voices as backup singers. And isn't the Beatboxer great? Really drives the song! He and Geoff tend to take turns arranging the songs. Altho' the guy in red (Eli - pronounced like jelly) has done a few of them too. Also he packs a really powerful voice that you just don't expect when he lets loose his 'rock tenor'. They do have a thing for Nightmare before Christmas. They've done 4 covers from it. But they seem to really enjoy doing stuff for Halloween.

You won't regret diving down the rabbit hole that is a cappella with VoicePlay and Home Free. Layne (VP) sounds like he swallowed a drum kit, while Adam Rupp of HF is an entire percussion section. There's often fun stuff in the captions for VP and Geoff's solo stuff, as his wife has significant hearing loss and now it's just part of his communication. This arrangement by Layne required Geoff's full range at the time, highest to lowest. He didn't have a reliable E1 before learning this song, but he did afterward, and has gone even lower since.

You think Geoff was screwing with your head in this cover? Try _The Dragonborn Comes;_ the man does BASS ARPEGGIOS.

You’ll enjoy the song more if you watch the movie so you get what it’s about. But ya, the bass is subterranean.

Geoff Castelucci is insanely talented, i'd say every member of Voiceplay is talented, but while the rest of them are S, Geoff is SS tier. absolute beast from a vocal perspective, and i dare say that sometimes he dips lower than this.
