Alessia Cara is a Canadian, Grammy winning, Pop singer. She, and The Warning, share some management and decided to collaborate on this reimagining. This was created ( in about 10 days) at the request of Metallica for their Blacklist Album (the 30th anniversary of the Black Album). More than 50 other artists participated on the Album. The direction from Metallica was to change up any aspect of the song you want, except the Lyrics. This was done remotely during the pandemic as AC was in Canada and TW in Mexico. They have only played this live together once, that performance is on KZread as well. The Warning’s concert version of this song is a little different still, but they do keep some of Alessia’s recorded backing vocals.

This was done during covid, with The Warning in Mexico and Alessia in Canada. Video was shot at an abandoned factory in Mexico. It's been performed live with Alessia once, at the Troubadour in LA, May 24, 2022.

This remake has only been performed once live with TW and Alessia together. It was 2022 in Los Angles at the Troubadour…and I was fortunate enough to be there!

@@hardknox1917 Regardless of which version you prefer (and I agree the way they perform it on tour is best), if Alessia wasn’t picked to perform on the Blacklist album TW wouldn’t have been included.

@@RandyTWA Thank you for giving Alessia her due! Comments I've seen tend to usually dismiss her and wish she wasn't singing at all. Personally, I prefer this OMV version BECAUSE of the contrast of pop and rock. I get that most TW fans prefer the live version with growly Dany channeling Hetfield, but without Alessia's invitation, we wouldn't HAVE this incredible reimagining of an iconic song.

Alessia (not Alyssa) Cara is a Grammy award-winning Canadian pop singer. I recommend the official music video simply titled 'Alessia Cara - Best Days'. She is unique in the field of pop music, and very much underrated.

Fun Facts: the room where they finished the song is green. It stank like old wet dog hair and mold because the windows had been broken out and stalewater had accumulated in the room. The smell as made worse because they watered-down the floor to give the sene a wet look. Where Paulina stood to video the prayer was in a narrow space between the building and the hill. There were large bugs crawling up the side of the wall. Pau is very scared of insects (and birds) and they were freaking out, but her dad standing nearby and helped calm her down enough to do the scene.

The Warning collaborated with Alessia Cara to do this rendition for the Metallica Blacklist album (They are track number 1). So there is a transition from pop at the start to full on rock later in the song. They use Alessia's vocals as a track for the "woah woah" parts when playing this live. The song comes across somewhat heavier in the concerts

Alyssa Cara made it to pop , Dany sings the entire song now .

This was done during the height of the pandemic. So Alessia participated remotely. The venue is an abandoned textile mill south of Monterrey, Mexico. Rudy Joffrey, their manager, usually comes up with the ideas for their videos.

Fascinated by the warning, love the warning.

Also, Pau is 5' tall, Dany is 5'3", and Ale is 5'7". Fun Fact... There's a Bat that makes an appearance in one scene, it does a fly by at 1:04 of the original video.

DPA/TW and Alessia Cara certainly understood the assignment! Alessia Cara is a Grammy winning Canadian Pop and R&B singer... they had 10 days to rip this rendition of Enter Sandman from the ether and make it a darker, more eerie, and a more haunting lullaby than the original metal version... this was done because they, and many other artists from numerous genres, were invited by Metallica to take one of the songs from the original "Black" album, keep the lyrics and change it up how ever you like... play it backwards, upside down, whatever... this was all for the 30th anniversary of the "Black" album... all the submissions from 50someodd artists were put on the 2021 "The Metallica Blacklist" album... the proceeds from the album sales are split 50/50 with half going to Metallica's "All Within My Hands Foundation" and the other half being donated to a charity of the participating artists' choice. in the OMV, Dany and Alessia share the lead vocals until they are in the three doorways when Dany takes over and Alessia does more of the background oooohs and aaaahs... the version they play in concert has Dany doing the vocals with a backing track of Alessia's ohhhs and ahhhs... of course Ale and Pau join in with their angelic harmonies in both... this is a fantastic reimagining of the iconic original... this 60+ year old rocker loves both versions of Enter Sandman but this one by TW and Alessia gets more airtime these days 😹 AIUI Alessia received the first invitation to do this... she didn't know what to do and her management company suggested to contact DPA/TW... they got together, decided what they wanted to do, how, and then contacted Metallica for a new invitation also asking DPA/TW to join in... by the time the invite arrived, they had 10 days to rip it out of the ether... they did and also provided the OMV as well 😜😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA

Great job! It's ah-LESS-ee-ah Cara. She's a Grammy award winning Canadian R&B and pop singer. This arrangement was written by The Warning, and is featured as the first song on Metallica's Black List album. Metallica loved this version.

I believe this is the most viewed/streamed tune on Metallica's 30th Anniversary Celebration of the Black Album, and deservedly so. The Warning still uses a little of Alessia's backing vocals on their backing tracks in their live performances, but Dany does all the lead now. By the way, Ale's not actually super tall - 5'6" - but her sisters are pretty short - Dany about 5'3" and Pau 5'0" even!

@@kfh1 Yep, just checked. She's grown another inch in the last couple of years! 5'4" is the average in the United States, so Ale's well over that and Dany's a tad under. But how Pau, at 5'0" can murder the drums like that, though, I'll never know. Thanks!

Ale is actually not that tall. But she is definitely taller than her sisters. Ale's mic 🎤 is above Dany's head.

5' 7" is not really short for a Mexican lady as a majority are rather short ,even in the US the mid west girls seem to be above average height and in northern Europe -Norway, Sweden, Lithonia, Moldava do also.

Personally I prefer the live version (Tiatro Metropolitan CDMX), they use a backing track for some of Alissia's vocals, but it's a harder, more raw version.

Great reaction. Just to let you know that Ale is actually normal height for a woman. It is that both Pau and Danny are small. Pau is very much defensive about her height so never say she is small around her and if you do you will get a dirty look. Danny is just slightly taller than Pau but she jokes about it. But she says she is “smoll” instead of small.

Actually, the collaboration was suggested by Chris Smith of 21 Entertainment Group in Toronto. He is the international booking agent for Alessia and The Warning. When Alessia was invited by Metallica for the Blacklist project she didn't know a single song from the Black album and didn't know what to do. Chris suggested the collaboration with TW to her, she liked the idea. Chris then suggested it to Metallica, who also liked the idea. By then, they had 10 days to arrange, record, mix, and submit their version to the Blacklist team. Prior to this, Alessia didn't even know who The Warning were and it is the first rock song she has ever done.
