Jeez. I have never seen Phil more engaged with the story. Like wow. You could almost hear him crying as the ending drew nearer. It was simply compelling. And his colorful commentary... Breath taking. It is a thing of wonders. This, fine fellows, is truly a playthrough worth watching.

Not excusing Phil, but the story in this game is pretty shitty. Disgaea games have always been pretty much nothing but standard anime schlock when it comes to plot. It's all about the gameplay. Which he completely sucks at, so of course he was getting bored and upset towards the end lol.

I wonder if he'll even understand all the in-jokes and campiness the series has, I doubt it. It'll be as you say sex jokes and immatureity and the main premise will fly far over his head.

Also, he didn't use ANY of the fun classes! Like, he made a Mothman, but never used it. And he never even made a Flora Beast, Succubus, Thief, Armor Knight, or literally anything else! And he didn't use Reincarnation or the Item World, which could've helped him greatly in the last part of the game! I don't even think he knew there WAS a Chara World!

"A promise unforgotten...wouldn't you say a promise remembered?" Jesus christ, and it's only 2 and a half minutes in...

I did when I first started playing Disgaea. The only reason for that was because I was still getting a feel of the game. But after a while I got the hang of it. Now I no longer kill my Allie's when I play.

3 minutes in, I loved the Prinny showin' up during the pre-stream :D

it's usually bosses that are important to the story in some way. I think you get one for losing to midboss. in disgaea 2 you get cutscenes for losing to axel, about him taking the main character spot(Which causes the game to instantly go to credits with axel's theme playing and some art, so you have to basically start over/go into new game+)

+Loryuo oh wait I remember losing to prinny baal in makai wars (spinoff game of disgaea), and it did give me a cutscene. I must have never died in story mode,but I do remember in disgae 2 if you beat etna with Axel it goes to the end credits.sorry I get complacent sometimes.

It's funny because he's grinding but not NEARLY enough to actually trivialize the difficulty because he doesn't understand how the game works nor does he understand that the game has some expectation that you'll replay maps to power up built into the difficulty.

I actually never knew that there was a mechanic for sending you to NG+ and that there are bad endings until now.

6k hours total in Disgaea.....since Disgaea 2.....now Disgaea 5 almost 200 hours...the grind is real,i like to maximize at least 3 char,max status to defeat Baal also max status in LoC

Nemo gains stats the more units he summons, so yeah he gets stronger the more it goes, it's a pretty cool boss.

I like how whenever something happens once he assumes that's what happens every time. I don't get why he even bothered mentioning he had a strategy guide because he could've just looked at it for the second to last level.

I just finished this game a little while ago from typing this. I will admit, I struggled at points, but son of a gun. Phil will NEVER understand how to play Disgaea properly. He could have a developer holding his hand , and STILL fail. The fact he treated the story like it was stupid is what hurts the most. I really hope he never plays another Disgaea game for as long as he lives. I KNOW he'll never finish them.

Speed stat so overpowered for dodging XD XD.

To be fair Disgaeas complexity, can be somewhat overwhelming to newcomers, and the Disgaea 4 guide is one of the biggest failures of a guide ever, that does not however excuse most of Phil's mistakes.

+Knight Artorias It's nothing special really. Disgaea is known for being addicting. People often spend entire hours or days of lvling up their items. As long as you are having fun, it's fine.

+jettythesunfish Well, I would grind because I like it. :P But this is Phil we are talking about. The truth is he sucks at video games. There is nothing wrong with it. You can't be good at everything. But he chose to do this as a job. So, I guess he has to go through the game one way or another. If he spent a bit of time LEARNING how to LEARN to play video games, things would be a bit easier for him. Then again, if that happened, we would have less of these videos. :P

Just realized something; people were complaining he'd be grinding offscreen and such for his party, but to be fair to him, how would you get around this game without grinding? Least for me in D1, Im struggling a bit to get through item world so grinding is the only thing I can do.

at the 13 minute mark i dont know if i can handle this disgaea 4 is my favorite one and dsp is here just manhandling it

So, you probably found out about this a long time ago, but just in case anyone is wondering....Fallen Angel Flonne was available as DLC for those who pre-ordered the game from Gamestop or NIS America's online store. So if you have Disgaea 4 Complete+, you will not unlock her until the post game.

when you realise that he fails EVERYTHING POSSIBLE and doesnt even slightly watch after thr Evilities (passive skills). That way you easily realise that the entire game breaks once you use Desco with 4 mates around her, scaling her stats immensely upwards xD i pretty much pushed through the game like that without any guides or anything close. Similar, it shall be noted that Hit is an immensely important stat. And about some of the tougher puzzle-maps, one shall keep in mind that the spawn point basically gives no downsides ever. so using AoE's when sitting on the spawn pushes through full damage guaranteed (except towards evade/immune areas)

I've never played this game but intend to soon. Not being able to watch this video is a manly pain.

Dante Vic Vita versions of Disgaea games update the game mechanics to the newest of the available mechanics. Those repackages are the same as original. Trust me, the newer mechanics (from Disgaea D2) are significantly better. Disgaea 3 got Disgaea 4's mechanics.

disgaea 4 on vita is superb. you get all the 50 dlc pieces available from the previous games and original. and also contains lots of new additional mechanics including fuka and desco show and a new vita exclusive time leap episodes

PlasmaPower it's a great game and a great Port. I got it for my birthday and I'm lovin it.

Or, high level a few mages to get the geo blocks in the distance, the monster magich nage on the first turn anyways. Then combo bully targets with area and single attacks, throw enemies others far away to buy time. :)

+assortedfruitchews I actually expected it. Phil is known for not paying attention, and using little to no strategy. There is one obstacle in this game you need to use strategy for (or I guess you can farm for several hours until you get absurdly powerful), and that's the geo panel puzzles. When I heard Phil played Disgaea, I knew he would have problems going through it.

Surpise he didn't make joke about Artina Breast.

He works to spread bad feelings, he's selfish and hurtfully rude to his most diehard fans, he doesn't improve when he's criticized, he's (arguably) not entertaining at all. He's a minus on his viewers and peers. It would be appropriate if he stopped producing content, and it would be appropriate if people stopped watching him.

dood... you can't walk while carrying people. also you don't always get Credits if you lose it just happened that you were lucky to die at an early ending point like each Disgaea has more Endings if you meet certain conditions like kill that much allies then loose to that enemy or kill that much allies and end the game to get bad ending and stuff. some even have achievements for seeing all endings

He's underleveled and I think he has shitty weapons too. So yeah the enemy's speed is too high copare to his HIT stats. He never really understood the concept of the Item World, never understood the purpose of the "innocents" and "Item Bosses", nerver tried to change classes, never tried to understand how the geo effect works, never looked at the stats before engaging a combat ... He just tries to rush trough the game as fast as possible, that's why he sucks so much. Classic Phil

dsp doesn't think like a normal person. in mgsv, there was a fire boss. dsp was surrounded by shallow bodies of water and water towers. his first thought was to jump off of a cliff. in mgs3, he got mad because the game didn't explain quicksand.

....a feature that tells you not to put your units inside the attack blocks? Heck, I FUCKING NEVER KNEW, THAT LITTLE HINT THAT TELLS YOU WHAT PERCENTANGE THE ATTACK HAS AGAINST AN ENEMY DOESN'T TELL ME WAIT, IT BE BETTER IF THERE WAS AN EASY MODE FOR THIS GAME.....EXCEPT, THE DIFFICULTY IS PROPORTIONATE TO HOW YOU PLAY AND USE THE MECHANICS TO YOUR ADVANTAGE, BUT ALL YOU DO IS IGNORE THE GEO EFFECTS, WASTE A LOT OF MP, KILLING YOUR OWN UNITS.... And this guy though himself he was the GOD OF GAMING when he was the first of other Americans to get into a Street Fighter tournament ( 4th place, and never got to be that close again, one can say its obvious )

+v2099 I have only played Disgaea 1 and 2. I haven't played 4, so I don't know what you are talking about. But one thing I remember is common with the Disgaea games is that if you kill EVEN ONE of your allies, you are not getting the good ending. So, that's probably what happened.

+Blahander yea the early games was painful that way, but since part 3 they extended it to 10 allies killed. once you get that you will progress to the bad ending. tho i must say, there's no real ending as each of the main endings are character endings, and the bad endings is specifically losing at certain stages i believe the "default ending" is Artina's ending where as the "best ending" is Fenrich(fen-fen).
