The biggest take away from this video is even with high salaries as nurses the two of you are looking for a way out and you haven’t been in the profession for very long. This is disturbing to me. Nursing is a fundamentally flawed burn out profession. No one really wants to talk about that. Or address the root causes.

Not sure if the problem is completely addressable. The amount of things that can happen on the floor inherently make it really unsustainable. Even with good staffing, really sick people are stressful to manage

@@rezur3kt698 I also think it really unfair to nurses when other professions get to dump on them. Nurses stay with the patient for the whole shift and every one else goes in and out of care respiratory, PT/OT, pharmacy, anesthesia, techs etc list goes on. But nurses are responsible for the patient holistically and coordinates all of that care. They really should be paid a whole lot more. And not to mention it’s a dangerous and dirty job. Exposed to all kinds of communicable diseases. Have to clean up vomit, feces and urine. I know there’s techs on the floor but if they are busy or not enough of them that all falls on the nurse.

Hey Jason, Love the video! Thanks for all you do to help nurses out and educate us. I have been an ICU nurse for about 4 years in the Cincinnati area. As a critical care float nurse I make around $60 per hour so nothing like you guys make. Renting now for $925/mo a 2 bedroom place and living expenses aren’t bad here. Trying to pay off about $40,000 left on my student loans and a car loan. That is the total for both combined. Your videos have been inspiring me to hit it hard and try to get debt free. I have also looking into moving to California. I love the San Diego area but I saw the pay isn’t at good there and it’s so expensive. So idk. Haha. If I pick up a couple shifts a pay period here I can take home $3800-$5000 without much trouble.

Employment is still classified as non-scalable because it still relies on the time factor therefore income is still capped at x hours per week. Entrepreneurship, selling a product or a service is scalable because it doesn't rely on the time factor. Most millionaires created a product or service, sold the business and got huge payout in millions. This is called a successful exit. If you sell multiple businesses, then it's multiple exits. If you can produce income without exchanging time for profit, that is where success truly is.

PAs and NPs are usually salaries and don't get as much OT as the staff nurses. I remember working at Sutter Roseville and one of the PAs I worked with told me he was making $165k/yr. To put that in perspective, that's what nurses who work 32 hours per week are making at Kaiser.

Hello Jason and Monica, you guys are made for each other, total synergy 2+2=5. Thank you for fantastic content. I was able to renew my delinquient California license and considering a move from Floridato Sacramento, thanks to you Mr Inspiration. My backround is ICU and currently Interventional radiology. I been inspired by your run video and possebility of doing 12 hour and 16 hour shifts with possible overtime and double time. I am looking to work a lot and make serious money. I have a good understanding of how it works. First question .Should I consider transfering to ER and getting expirience while I am still in Florida. Since IR is 4 10 hour shifts, and ICU is only 3 12 hour shifts, I understand there is no overtime for CA ICU 12 hour shifts. or is there another departments that I can do 8 hour shifts and pick up overtime. Second question i been an RN for 14 years, from my understanding and sinse I watched your new Kaiser contract video I should be Nurse Level IV with 7 step credit and my starting basesalary in beginning of 2024 should be around 100. Ande for bonus question/ suggestion perhaps for next video. How does oncall work in California. I heard its half of your base pay, would it make sense to work in Interventional Radiology and pick up all the oncall? Anybody out there have oncall expirience? Any information would be greatly appriciate it. Thank you.

And your salary is way better than hers. even before the interests hike, her mortgage was almost cad$5k still. She has to work 5 days a week 12-hr/shift just to pay off her mortgage. That's crazy! I think her problem is that she over extended herself and bought a house she couldn't afford. I see the same thing happening with most nurses I work with. I work with nurses who've purchased homes that cost over $900k on a single income. Monica and I bought a house for $697k because we new we could afford it on 1/4 of our overall income. That's why we work 20 hours per week and don't pick up extra shifts. Some times you have to be willing to live frugally and invest your money wisely if you don't want to end up living paycheck to paycheck.

There is no specific "float pool" position within the Kaiser system in Northern California. There are only part-time, full-time, short-hour, per-diem, and temporary positions. However, in some cases directors allow their employees to float to other hospitals or units to earn extra pay.

I'm a staff nurse. The starting salary for staff nurses is as low as $72 and goes all the way up to $135.55/hr for a nurse with maxed years of experience working nights (and weekend diff). I have 11 years of experience and work evenings so my salary is $102/hr. We don't get any differential for working in the ED, ICU, or other specialty unit. We don't get a differential for having a BSN, so nurses with their ADN make just as much as nurses with their BSN.

I'm an RN, but I was a professional artist for 11 years before that. I worked in the studio of a "famous" artist and made his paintings, which he sold for tons of money. But the job got automated. I want to do something creative again that can make money. I want to do something with film, maybe an art KZread channel. Not sure what else I could do. I'd love to do portraits for wealthy clients or paintings for churches etc, but it's selling something expensive that's EXTREMELY time consuming. I'm talking a good two months of ALL of my free time for a single portrait. I was thinking of dropshipping. I think I could make some great videos for ads. Seems like having good videos is the most important part of selling something with dropshipping, other than having a desirable product, of course. If I were financially independent then I'd want to make small indie films. Could I make some serious money dropshipping to get started doing that?

@@NursesToRiches thanks. That's something to think about. I don't really understand social media, how you get followers, etc. The problem I've always had is that I paint so slowly, and social media needs constant content. How am I supposed to do this when a single painting takes me a month or more of my free time?? I clicked through to your interview with Mo, the immigrant who now makes $1 million per month. That was inspirational. I think I should probably be selling courses. I painted professionally for years. I made paintings that are now in big museums (though they had my boss's name on them, not mine). Skillwise, I'm in that top 1% of painters. I could probably build courses that people would buy. 🤔 I always thought I needed a following first, and my slow painting process prevented me from really pursuing it. But now I'm thinking I should build some painting courses, use my nursing money to advertise them, and then the following will come AFTER the advertising. 🧐 What do you think? Either way, we'll see what happens, I'm still thinking what I should do.

I didn't say inflation is the reason why nurses are making over 100k in Northern California. I said healthcare workers pay is keeping up with inflation in California (specifically Northern California), but not the rest of the country. And the reason why it's keeping up with inflation is because there are unions that nurses are members of in this part of California. Nurses here fight for high wages because the cost of living continues to go up and they don't want to end up homeless like most other Americans are unfortunately. Healthcare IS expensive and I am not here to solve a problem that no other politician or uber-wealthy individual has been able to solve. I am here making sure I'm protecting other nurses by showing them they don't have to overwork themselves, live paycheck to paycheck, and burn themselves out for abysmally low wages when even retail store employees are earning more than nurses in some states.
