Jim Powell speaking. I grew up with this. The early 1960’s was the absolute best drag racing era period. You could work on your own car, take it to the track. Lay a few dollars down and run. It was that simple to participate. Cruising at night, jumping on it for a block or two. Stopping and talking with guys you did not know until you were both lined up waiting for the green light to come. Man, that was the best

They may look like old school racing but they all appeared to be automatic transmission not 4-speed shifting. But it's nice to see mostly all steel body cars. In 1963/64 I ran a '40 Ford in C then D gas and had the best eqpt at the time. I had about $1,000 total invested, that was the good old days.

All super fine rigs....great races! Very Good photography also...I appreciate wide view capturing both lanes at race end, showing ET and speed.

Great stuff! Back in the day (60’s when I raced)if you had a street car that got into the low 12’s that was considered fast! (Daily drivers I’m talking about).

Why do they only use pushrod engines? I understand its to relive nostalgia but theres some American DOHC engines.

I didn’t know dragsters back then had that much ground clearance.

Ya OK. But were they running the REAL QUARTER MILE or the John Force legislated quarter mile.
