I believe Wu accepted her panda and only gave it up because of the fight with her daughter. She has two moments that make me believe that she misses the panda.

My general assumption is that Ming gave her mother the scar in a panda fueled fit of rage when she and her mother were arguing about Jin. The movie leaves some pretty huge hints that this was the case. The funny thing is that Wu disapproved about Jin who comes off as a gentle and supportive person. I wonder if Wu just blamed Jin for her daughter's behavior, as Ming did with Mei Lee's friends.

I noticed that after Ming fought with her mother her hair is loose and doesn't look like Wu's but when she gets older she starts tying her hair up more because she's trying to imitate her Mom so she and Mei don't go through the same thing.

I noticed that in the scene where Wu talks about how she and Ming were close once, but the panda drove that apart, Wu *touches the scar on her forehead.* Sure it could just be her rubbing her forehead because it's kind of a painful memory, but usually little gestures like touching a scar are indicators of remembering certain things.

So when Mei sees her Mom when she was 13 years old that was when she gave her Mom the scar as she said to Mei “I hurt her my mom I got so angry and I lost control I’m just so sick of being perfect”

Kinda neat to have two movies from Disney that go over generational trauma in some capacity, even if Coco is a Pixar film.

I thought they already stated that she hurt her mother when she got very angry. I thought it was more emotional, but once I seen the scar it was physically too. She even touched her scar when she said “the red panda took that away”. So it definitely plays a role that the red panda was the cause.

I belive that maybe Ming let it run a lot longer and the problems between her and her mother made it grow until they had a fight and mother got the scar and Ming was larger than the average pandas. Before she got control of it with the amulett. But she repeating the same error that her mother did with her, with Mei.

I think the wound that would become the scar happened when Ming was about Meilin's age, the same age that Ming is when Mei finds her in the bamboo forest.

Maybe the Scar is marking that One of them has the power of All. Its a Scapegoat of all the other Red Panda's Dark Side. A short can explain when this happened (!).

What ever happened when the lost control thing when Mei lost control of her panda side and the scar happened, I support of the accident theory because it might just be that an accident

Well here's my theory about Ming. I believe that Ming red Panda form was normal size when Ming discovered that she can turn into a giant red panda. If I correctly I believe Ming discover her red panda form when she was 16. If you look back at her daughter Mei, she said it happened too early for her. I also believe that Ming turn to a Kaiju size red Panda doing the red moon when her and Grandma Wu got into a big fight over Jin. But I also believe that there are more between the relationship between Ming and Grandma Wu. If some of y'all don't believe by Asian culture, here's one thing that a lot of folks will talk about Tiger Mom. Grandma Wu was a Tiger Mom just like Ming is a Tiger Mom to Mei.

Okay, only a few secs in. I haven’t read the comments either. Just gonna say that I’ve always had a feeling, and I think, it’s because when the whole fight over Jin that destroyed a lot of the temple happened, I think Ming scratched her mom. I haven’t even watched yet, just wanna say. Lol.

I have to say this film was fun watch at first Pixar's third original Female Lead Character And her three best friends are all girls. The four main characters are girls. That's a first for PIXAR, I checked all the Pixar films Mei and her friends remind me of my sister and her three girlfriends They love each other so much, and they have a lot in common. Only now I feel extremely stressed and extremely anxious to watch this film both Ming and Tyler are too painful for me to handle and it's just sad that the girls got the date of the concert incorrect and Tyler's party is a bad memory for myself. and all of the sudden I have become very terrified of Mei angry in her panda form The point is I find it hard to enjoy this film The girls are great The rest of the film too stressful for me handle I don't know what to do😥

I'm sure a great many want a live action remake of Atlantis The Lost Empire. I was thinking that they should do an animation for the story of Kaguya-hime, based on the Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. An old man finds a glowing, golden stalk of bamboo, cuts it, and finds a baby girl inside. He and his wife name her Kaguya-hime, and raise as their own. When she's old enough to court, she sets up 5 impossible tasks: The Stone Bowl of Buddha, the Jeweled Sprig of Horai, The Fur of the Fire Rat, The Crystal from the Dragon's Neck, and The Swallow's Cowrie Shell. Her celestial maidens come, present her an Elixir of Immortality, from which she takes a sip, and they dress her in The Feathered Robe of The Heavens. She gives the rest of the Elixir to the Emperor, and is then taken back to the Moon. The Emperor, not wanting to live forever if it means he'll never see her again, tells his servant to dump the Elixir into Mt. Fuji.
