This Is How Backmarkers SAVED MotoGP!

This Is How Backmarkers SAVED MotoGP! | MotoGP Today
The year 2012 stood as a critical juncture in the history of MotoGP, with the sport facing an unprecedented challenge. The once-packed grid was on the brink of a significant shrinkage. The departure of Suzuki in 2011, following a disappointing season, had already sent ripples through the racing world. This was compounded by Kawasaki's exit in 2008 and the notable absence of interest from other manufacturers like Aprilia and KTM. The situation painted a grim picture for the upcoming 2012 season, potentially starting with a sparse grid comprising only 12 bikes - four each from stalwarts Honda, Yamaha, and Ducati. Such a scenario threatened not just the competitive spirit of the sport but also posed a potential public relations debacle for MotoGP.

Yet in ( 2023 ) @ Catalunya ( Pole Time ) - WSBK ( Alvaro Bautista & Ducati V4 "Panigale" ) was only roughly ( -1.5 sec. ) behind MotoGP ! --> - MotoGP ( Peco Bagnaia & "GP23" ) Which is INCREDIBLE ! Especially if you correctly assume that MotoGP Riders are at a Higher Level. The bikes are MUCH closer in Performance than even that ( 1.5 sec. ) states. - Peco - ( 1:38.639 ) - Bautista - ( 1:40.264 ) - What time do you think Peco, Marquez or Martin could Lay-Down on the ( 2023 V4 Panigale ) ? - I would be willing to bet that they would ALL be within ( 1 sec. ) of ( Alvaro Bautista's ) Pole Time. So think about that ... A Million Dollar + MotoGP bike is only roughly ( +1.0 -> +1.5 sec. ) Faster around Catalunya than a production based WSBK ( World Superbike ) that anyone ( with $100,00+ ) can buy & ride on the street. - This would have been considered Laughably INSANE ( 10yrs ) or even ( 5yrs ) ago.
