This is everything you need to get to marry a Nigerian girl
This is what it takes to marry a Nigerian girl
I received the dowry list signed by her father
I need to purchase yam, cola nut, alligator pepper, palm oil and even a LIVE GOAT! And not just one yam or pepper - large quantities. The list is 39 items in total.
In this video I will be visiting the bulk food markets to gather everything I need to complete this list before the marriage.
These items are symbolic like the bottle of honey meaning our marriage will forever be sweet, yam as a symbol of fertility and prosperity, and an umbrella signifying my role as a protector for my wife.
It is a lot of things, but it is worth it for Adenike. She is Yoruba but all the tribes practice dowries though with different items and traditions around it.
Thank you to Eunice of @AboutConsumables for helping me with this list. Her page: / aboutconsumables

Nice one marrying a lady from my tribe you will never regret
Oyinbo man, the woman that went to the market with you is so truthful and honest. She is so reliable. Stick to her for more assistance in the future, because you wouldn't get many hponest Nigerians around you. Be careful. I wish you a happy married life in few weeks time. Drop you IV here for us to grace the big ocassion.

Requirements differ from each tribe. In my tribe for instance no animal or fish, oil is required in the list. It is more of clothes, drinks and money. No eatable item on the list.

This was beautiful and enlightening to watch😊 I love how you were actively part of the purchase of all the dowry items, it shows how much you value the bride. The bride list and bride price is not as though the family is selling their daughter but to see how much of the intending groom's commitment to their daughter. Well done Chris and congratulations on your marriage!
You're always welcome to Nigeria mate.
Congratulations to you both. her family is very nice. they did not task you so much.

But Yoruba dowries are usually never tasking! Just a list of minor, inexpensive but meaningful items. This list is actually longer than all I've ever seen.

The alligator peppers have red covering in its natural state. These ones have been dried up to last longer. The seeds are like black pepper when grounded, but more peppery with a different flavor. Traditionally eaten with kolanuts.
Love this!
Very interesting and educating video
Wow, I can't believe I learned a new Nigerian thing from him😂, the goat tradition of 1k...ok ooo He also pronounce Hausa very well
Congratulations inlaw.
Actually, getting married to a Yorùbá girl is relatively and comparatively 'less expensive' 😀😀😀

This is Not what it takes to marry a Yoruba girl. It differs from family to family and what money you bring is mostly returned to you that they are not selling thier daughter. Pls let your viewers know whatever you bring is mainly to showcase tradition and not that they are taking thier daughter to you.

Bro, you are being generic. Nigeria has over 250 ethnic groups and marriage requirements differ amongst all of them, even if they are in same state. You married a Yoruba girl, hence, your caption should be more specific. Congratulations on your marriage 😊

@@truethots3088 May be I missed that. The caption didn't actually specify Yoruba girl, He wrote 'Nigerian girl'. Does my explanation connote any problem?

@sonofwealth625 yes it connotes a problem because anyone that actually watched the video will hear him say multiple times he is marrying from the yoruba tribe. So why would you be complaining about him being generic if you watched it?
