This is Bonaire (4k) - Pride of the Dutch Caribbean

Bonaire National Marine Park is an underwater sanctuary that surrounds the entire island of Bonaire. The park is the world's oldest marine reserve and was established with support from the World Wildlife Fund and managed by the STINAPA foundation. Bonaire marine park is one of the world's most beautiful diving destinations.
Join us on a journey through the beautiful coral reef of Bonaire, the pride of the Dutch Caribbean. We’ll take you along breathtaking reef structures, through endless coral fields, and past its surprising inhabitants. Bonaire is a Caribbean Sea island off the coast of Venezuela. The Caribbean Sea surrounding Bonaire homes approximately 350 species of fish, and the coral reef encompasses about 60 species of coral.
The island is surrounded by coral reefs and is easily accessible by car or boat for any diver. With pleasant water temperatures and varied depths from shallow to deep, the reefs are easy to dive independently without a guide. However, a guide is recommended on the east coast as currents can be rough.
Because of the presence of seagrass and mangroves, a shallow lagoon in the southeast of Bonaire is a one-of-a-kind area. With restricted access, a portion of the mangroves remains virtually undisturbed, making it a valuable resting area for birds and a nursery for many fish and other aquatic life. However, mangrove forests are under threat. The Mangrove Maniacs Foundation, a group of people united in their mission to preserve the mangroves for the future, looks after this particular area.
Today, salt is still extracted from the salt pans of the Pekelmeer. In the colorful basins of the southwest, seawater evaporates naturally, leaving behind salt for extraction.
Another colorful area is Bonaire's capital, Kralendijk, where buildings and murals are painted beautifully bright colors.
Sea Turtle Conservation Bonaire is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the conservation of endangered sea turtles in Bonaire. In addition to rescuing injured turtles, sea turtles are frequently captured for a short time to monitor their health, growth, and provide them with a tag or satellite transmitter. The data from the transmitters provide valuable insight into the turtles' foraging and breeding habits.
Reef Renewal Foundation Bonaire is doing everything it can to restore the reef. Coral nurseries can be found all over the island, where coral fragments grow in coral trees before being planted on the reef.
The wildlife above water is rich in biodiversity with birds, lizards, iguanas. Washington Slagbaai National Park, which encompasses the entire northern region of Bonaire, is a protected nature reserve. The nature reserves are easily accessible by car and offer a memorable experience.
This film is the result of around 80 hours of 4k video footage and a few months editing. Shot in August / November 2021.

You should get in contact with David Attenborough, I used to live on the same street as him! with these filming skills and the inspiring and educational story lines you could go very far with nature documentaries. Almost made me cry how incredibly beautiful the underwater world is in Bonaire. More humans need to see the beauty and magnificence of nature to stop polluting it and protect! The ecosystem is a mirror to us, the fact we are damaging the environment shows we are damaging ourselves. When were very close to non-human beings it is possible to see ourselves reflected back as we are all in essence made of the same stuff. We should protect and spend more time immersed in the raw elements of nature away from computer screens and central heating and become more connected. That's what its all about: Connection & Purpose.

This place is a true gem for the world! We had a stop here a few years back on cruise and we took all of our grandkids snorkeling and to this day they still talk about how beautiful this place is and how lucky they got to visit. I have snorkeled in lots of places in the world and it took me 35 years to see a sea turtles but here my grandkids on the first time in the water see one within minutes of getting in the ocean. I cannot wait to go back and see more of the beauty soon. Agree with others on why this video does not have millions of views.

1:12 WOW! 🤯 What AMAZING footage of that Longsnout Seahorse - those guys are so small! The dive housing for those DSLR cameras may cost an arm and a leg but DAMN is it worth it in the right hands! One thing that stood out to me so much was the color grading. There's a lot of good underwater footage, but most of it is so oversaturated in blue tones. Did y'all achieve this mostly through lighting or editing? Got any tips for a new underwater photographer?

I know the pros and cons of the go pro system well--what I'm searching for is a camera system that fills in the gaps--like videoing smaller animals etc. Would really appreciate hearing your thoughts!

Hi Sandra, thanks! I also started with a Gopro, then had an Olympus camera (was more of a photo camera with a film option), and then I started using a Sony AX700 (www.yourcamerastore.com/sony-ax700- with-gates-housing-and-sp34a-port). The AX700 with the Gates housing is a fan-tas-tic 4k camera (and still is). Easy to operate, records good colors, a very good zoom function, built-in red filter and nd filter, automatic and manual focus/zoom function, manual white balance option. We still use the AX700 (as a 2nd camera) and are still very happy with it.

this is as great example of why we need to have more ocean preserves.... otherwise the reef fish get overfished and the corals destroyed. Mangroves in Florida are getting destroyed by mankind at an alarming rate. We behave as if we own this planet...yet it belongs to all the millions of species that call earth "home". ..... we are just one species.
