As a DJ, I can verify that this song went/goes crazy in the club. This was one of Chaka's best. As for who "Rufus" is, that is the name of the band she collaborated with for decades. They are all supremely talented musicians who complemented Chaka's voice perfectly.

There are so many Chaka Khan memories! In each of her songs, she evokes goose bump or orgasmic moments that require multiple listens. Her music is like a drug. Whether it's her phrasing, her vocal timbre, her harmonies or sassy syncopated vocal style, she has the 'IT' factor. Also, let's not forget her look, too...her hair, lips and hips help bring her songs to life. She's definitely one of the most original, talented, creative, colorful and much loved artists of the last 50 years!

I also first heard Rufus with Chaka Khan in Tell Me Something Good. Her voice was undeniable and the vocalizations by the rest of the band blew my mind. I hadn’t ever heard anything like it before. Speaking of dancing, this song was featured prominently at the time it was released in an 80's movie called Breakin' which is when the breakdancing craze swept the country! Great memories! You can easily find this song paired with clips from the movie on youtube.

"Ain't nobody can make me feel this way" is one of the most dope lyrics ever. I heard this song at a Youth center dance in 83 - it was fire then and it is still smoking hot today. Thanks for reacting to it.

I was in the clubs when Chaka Kahn was filling the airwaves, and let me tell you, when those first few notes of Ain't Nobody came out of the speakers, the dance floor filled up! You're right that what makes this work is that combination of power and passion, but also that steady relentless backbeat and the smooth groove, punctuated by her amazing energy. This is a song to play at a wedding reception, when you're ready for your guests to let loose. 40 years later, it still kicks.

Classic, that’s ALWAYS nostalgic. That flute or whatever in the background is the mvp. Top ten dance/rnb mix for me, plus being in the movie Breakin’ is a bonus.

Chaka Kahn - one of THE voices of the 80s. Although I would class this song as "80s Groove", it always had a very unique feel about it. "I Feel For You" is one of Chaka's other hits. One my favs. (originally written and performed by Prince. Harmonica played by Stevie Wonder.)

Amber, your remarks about Chaka and her singer is spot on, you put it into beautiful terms how this song makes me feel. And Jay, love the way you get into it with the raised hands, dancing in the chair which is what this song made people do on the dance floor and in the clubs. I was lucky to live through it and glad to see the young generation discover it. Great reaction channel, love it.
