Billy Powell on the piano. Roadie turned band member. Skynyrd's secret weapon and definitely a ride on the Little Richard train.

You'll like "I know a little"
The best piano solo ever! IMO!
Billy Powell on the piano, he was a roadie for the band until one day he told them how he would do Freebird and the guys were shocked and said you are no longer a roadie and were now a part of the band. The rest is history.
You cannot help but start smiling, tapping your feet and clapping your hands.
"Call Me the Breeze" written by the late great JJ Cale, who wrote many kick ass tunes covered by other artists, not the least of which are Cocaine (Eric Clapton and Nazareth), After Midnight (Clapton and the Jerry Garcia Band), Sensitive Kind (Santana & Clapton), Cajun Moon (Herbie Mann), and Crazy Mama (Tom Petty & the Heartbeakers). The best time to play Breeze is when it's one of those first really warm days of spring and you just roll your car windows down and crank it up.

JJ Kale with Clapton, live, singing "Anyway the wind blows" is one of my all time favorites. There's so many great JJ Kale songs!
Billy Powell on the piano!
Written by the great JJ Cale. I named my Jeep “Mr Breeze” because of this song. “I keep blowing down the road “
This song is not missing anything. Lot's of instruments being played here.🎶
That smile on your face says it all. Southern fried rock at its best. RIP guys, gone but never forgotten.
Just an absolute kick-ass tune. It's got it all! Wailin' guitars, horns, and that freakin' piano solo is top-flight.
Man, the guitar solo gets me every time!!!
Every guitarist in this band SMOKED, and on top of a killer rhythm section.
"Things going on" is another Great song. Sooo many great songs...

"Things going on " a great and underrated track.
There's a whole lot of great Skynyrd songs: "Freebird", "Tuesday's Gone", "Swamp Music", "Don't Ask Me No Questions", "Gimme Three Steps", "Saturday Night Special", "Made In The Shade" and "Poison Whiskey" just to name a few.

Not a rabbit hole. A wide river.
And don't forget, on those piano solos in those Lynyrd Skynyrd songs including in their live gigs, Billy Powell is playing grand pianos. Those take a lot of strength to be that agile on. Because they have such a big sound, the action on it and everything is just more demanding of strength to really do that super lightning fast hammering with that kind of precision, while still keeping the overall feel of it, and staying so incredibly tight with that band. That band was so tight.
Every time I comment on a reaction to this song, I say that it's Lynyrd Skynyrd taking you to Church! This song will have you catching the Spirit! 😊
Oh yea, those horns are getting it. Notice that the guitar solo was repeated by the piano

And when they played this live, the guitars simulated the horn section. This band simply put, was phenomenal.
One of the best bands ever
I'm about 4 minutes in, at the break where you are reviewing it a minute, and I really like your listing off of primary influences on this, and yet it's still its own thing. These guys could do fantastic ballads, but they could always rock. It's so great to hear this and also to see you taking it all in.
That baseline is THUMPIN'!
This whole album was probably their best one. Such an influence on the South
The story goes that Billy Powel then roadie sits down at piano and say this is how i would do the intro for Freebird. Redt is history
Jacksonville native here my dad went to school with them and had Lenard skinner as a gym coach
Leon on bass and Artimas on drums holding the bottom down!!!
One of the most talented families in music history.
The late great Billy Powell on the keys !
On the hunt is a good one
This is southern rock to me it was a blues/rock meld . The piano player was Billy Powell . He was a beast. RIP Billy Powell this is from the 70s.
There's a big advantage to having 3 guitarists whole can all play lead, and sometimes do in parallel and in counterpoint.
This is the ultimate head bop toe slap drive real fast good time jam. !!!!!
It's a toe tapper knee slapper!
this is southern rock it blues rock
That was Billy Powell on Piano bottom right picture on the album cover. He was a trained classical pianist working as one of their roadies until they heard him play and they were like hell nah you one of us now.
Skynyrd is playing a show in Concord, CA with ZZ Top this September.
This song was written by JJ Cale.
“ I know a little “ 🔥🔥🔥
What a great articulation of this song I love how you expressed it.
in my 53 years, i've yet to find a Skynyrd tune that i don't like. Gimme Three Steps,, Needle and Spoon, That Smell are three of my favorites. hope to see you do more

T for Texas, live version, everything you just plus Steve Gaines with the slide guitar. Ronnie just sits back and smiles in awe.
I’ve been waiting for this title by LS to roll down your street, nice reaction 😀
Somebody give the horns Sum ❤..😂✌️👍
Ballad of Curtis Loew! Great great song, thanks for reaction sir!
I absolutely love your reaction to my favorite song. ♥️ It’s a great cruising song!!
That's the late Great Billy Powell on the Piano!
Love love love this one! It's on my playlist already. 😂 Think I may have suggested it to you. If not, then I did a few days ago on someone else's channel. Lol. Thank you so much. 😊
It just makes you 😁!!!!
And that’s why they’re the best.
My favorite Lynard Skynard song. 😊
Skynyrd is still touring and they are amazing in concert! After seeing this legendary group in concert you understand why rock fans say “play some freebird” at other concerts! It is Epic !!

a cover band calling themselves LS is still touring.
Great reaction. This is my favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd tune.
Billy Powell was his name on the keys. He was very under appreciated as there were 3 (actually 4) amazing guitarists in the original Real Lynyrd Skynyrd band that died on Oct. 20 1977.
Great rreation and amazing commentary. Thanks for the outstanding music, and all the hard work you put into bringing it to us.
Full tilt boogie!
You should definitely check out their Live album One More From The Road and their final album Street Survivors. They both pack a real punch.
Saw them 17 times 6 times before the plane accident and live were probably one of the best bands of all time
This is by far my fav Skynyrd tune
I first saw them playing as My Backyard at a club in Atlanta where I worked called Funichios. This is where they were discovered by Al Cooper and signed them to MCA Records for $9000.
Man you done did it now. Skynyrd Nation is in your blood. Great reaction
Great reaction! Yep, Skynyrd is beyond incredible. I only wish I had listened to them more as a kid back in the day. This may be my favorite song of theirs (not an easy thing to decide by any means). I could listen to it over and over. You might also try Whiskey Rock a Roller if you haven't already.
Brother I am 63 still play bass in multiple bands and this is a must know people love to dance to it 🙂
Check out Got That Right, with Ronnie sharing lead vocals with guitarist Steve Gaines.
Yo love the reactions! Respectfully... Skynyrd is pronounced like Skin Nerd ... And one of the greatest rock bands ever and my all time favorites. And I always describe their music has having that swamp feel , raw and strong.
I would love to hear you react to their song Railroad Song. At the beginning of this reaction you said oh my God that drummer, well Artimus Pyle does this at some point. It goes back to the Great Depression, but musically it's so fascinating for being so simple and it gets back to your comments about maybe sensing a tiny bit of grunge or garage in it. And of course this was the early seventies. But yeah man it's one of those few bands where there's nothing in their catalog I don't like. I think it's all good. You can't go wrong.
Southern Rock is its own thing. Got that Blues vibe, and Squank.
Written by JJ Cale.
What you're hearing is the Southern sound. Not quite Muscle Shoals, but in that realm, as all Southern Rock bands are heavily steeped in the music of Muscle Shoals and The Swampers. It's very distinctive, hard driving and gritty.
You need to do. That Smell great guitar work and the message everybody knows someone who over indulges in substainses that have the smell of death around them
back in the day this was the second album I ever bought, it changed everything!
Hey now I'll just listen to it cuz I live in the south now and I love your reactions I'm glad you're covering this song and not one of the others that are played so much. I just love your reactions and I wasn't familiar with the last few bands that you had covered

The guitar in 10 lb Ali will all the guitar will blow your mind but 10 lb Ali nobody can even cover that song God bless you and yours
Working for MCA you need to hear!
Very much like your reactions. Yes, this song is great party tune-- also great road music.
❤❤❤ luv how much you got into it - that's the best part. ALLMAN BROTHERS PLEASE. Whipping Post (live 1970) Melissa, Midnight Rider or Statesboro. Duane's singing guitar & Gregg's bluesy, soulful voice.
Warning listing to this song while driving may result in a speeding ticket 😅 "That Smell "
Gimme back my Bullets and 🦅 Gimme 3 Steps is funny.
Hi @Mugnify Reacts - I don't really know what additional sound you hear. Maybe you hear the song by J.J. Cale who wrote the song. His version is a lot more slow down and bluesy sounding - I really like both of them. Thanks for sharing and best wishes @all from hamburg (germany)
This and Give Me Back My Bullets are my favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd songs, although they have so many great tunes.
THE Billy Powell!!!!!
I'm 64 year old listen to skynard for ever never thought but you right on swing

Awesome react videos. You're good at what you do. If you like this soulful blues Skynyrd track, then please do "T For Texas" live at Knebworth by Lynyrd Skynyrd. It's Skynyrd at their absolute very peak of their talents.
Check out You Got That Right, with Ronnie sharing lead vocals with Steve Gaines.
Hey bro; I subscibed after hearing a Doors reaction & hearing Skynyrd!! That's that stick to your ribs down home 'Southern Rock.'. You're right Chuck Berry vibes, some blues, a little jazzy;; ALL southern fried for Our enjoyment. Skynyrd s the best at this.... Ted Nugent; if you want more of these flavors. Definitely a party song if you want to hear the blues side of skynyrd Then you need to Hear the sound called mister banker 😊awesome blues sound
Billy Powell on piano
you should play this song when LS played it live back in 1976!!!
Mr Billy Powell on piano
Billy Powell on the 88s lots of Johnny Johnson influence
If I'm driving to this, it's guaranteed I'll get a speeding ticket.
Its their Roadie on piano. He was their roadie until they found out he could play piano. Billy Powell
It's called southern rock!!!
I love the way, Lynyrd Skynyrd will a lot of band Lynyrd Skynyrd they would do those lead solo and they would do the same lick for four measures and wright is about the time you were getting tired of it they would switch up to something more appealing and it just took the song and a whole Nother directionI was always a big fan of that. It kept everything interesting
(Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd) Also the name of their first album. They’re the best.
The piano is Billy Powell
