Individuals make individual decisions that in the big picture affect the environment. To big business participation is a tax write off and to government it's lip service as a way to tax you more, and stay in power. You certainly don't need them to make your decisions for you in order for you to go your own way. We don't need virtue signaling. Put your money where your mouth is, and stop looking to someone else to do it for you. Stop trying to change everyone else, and change yourself. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ipuew82em8u8p9Y.html

This is amazing (and the video is amazing, too!)! As this is my second comment, I am focusing on additional reactions, and my reactions to those reactions. Although I haven't said much yet, I am warming up to something, maybe. Clarity. Speaking from my perspective (rather than (over) generalizing), I have a love/hate relationship with advertising and marketing (with the disclosure that I do both of those things). On the one hand, I don't like quite a lot of the tactics and practices commonly used by advertisers and marketers (and many of the comments in this thread reflect the common perception that I am far from being alone in this sentiment, yet my mix of turn-offs is as individual as yours). On the other hand, I am a consumer of products and services. I want to have bases to make my choices. However, wouldn't I be kidding myself if I thought that I was above (or beyond) being manipulated by advertisers and marketers? Is it a "bad" thing? Is it even avoidable? Warren Freedlund

I would gladly see a generic car advertisement after this one, as they are bugging me more and more. Let's put a white dove flying in a black room, then a young ballerina. Quick shot over a business district. There's a 0.1 second of a car being shown. Now an expensive apartment. Closeup of a guy drawing a curved line. Now a reflection of something on a reflective surface. Car's headlights. An eye. A big piece of machinery. Car's engine in a nice white room. One good shot of the advertised car, its name and that's all folks, please give us 50 thousand euros since we told you everything you had to know about this car.

Perfume adverts are way worse. MOROSE WOMAN in BIG SWIRLY DRESS breaks a GLASS BOTTLE and walks through an EMPTY HALLWAY in an ABSTRACT MANSION ENVIRONMENT after some kind of EXPENSIVE AND LICENTIOUS PARTY has taken place. A MOROSE MAN with some FACIAL HAIR but not much in a TUX is looking at the GROUND and notices her. They leave the PARTY in a black MERCEDES and laugh. The NAME OF THE PERFUME appears on the SCREEN and a WOMAN whispers it. It probably has FRENCH UNDERTONES.

No no. Here’s what you do. Dubstep music. A city full of life, with only one car on the streets somehow: the subject of the commercial. Wind tunnel footage of the car, except you only see the hood. A happy family in a park to show to car is “green” and cool. A teenager with the car, blissfully unaware of the crushing debt buying this car put him in, to show it’s fun. End with a night scene of the car driving from above, then looking at the front passenger’s fender, a name, a jingle, and an abrupt cut with the music echoing. Next commercial!

That was fun deconstructing this style of brand videos. I think it nailed some of the big cliches or advertising points raised in some of them in a satire of them. Frankly I felt that this was pleasing too even though I laughed at some points of the narration. I just wonder if an actual ad will do something like this, or perhaps they already have done something like this.

This is EXACTLY what's wrong with branding these days. Companies that do this have NO synergy, NO productivity hacks and NOTHING in their brand DNA that truly engages content creators.

The problem with branding is the fact that people still use buzzwords like "synergy," "productivity hacks," "brand DNA" and "buzzwords."

Feels pretty soulless, doesn't it? When I originally got into a graphic design degree, they pretty much said to give up any illusion of doing anything remotely original, because most companies you'd work for will just ask for the most generic shit imaginable.
