It's crazy how one of my favorite entertainers in this day and age is a furniture restorer.

My kids were just complaining about how "there's nothing to watch on KZread" and I kindly offered my roster of furniture restoration/ diorama building / château renovation channels to them. Weirdly, they didn't jump at the opportunity. I wish they would though, when I buy my castle someday I will need them to know about oxalic acid, sandpaper grit and the like...

And all the narration as you work. Bravo! Add gold tone lamps or large tray and that “flaw” will look intentional.
Love how you are open to trying completely new techniques that you've not tried before -- the result with the gold-colored foil is lovely and definitely turning a flaw into a feature! We love all that you do and don't care if the pieces you work on are road-finds or salvage or bought at thrift stores... it is the work you do to transform them and the expertise you share with us that matters to your community!

Ikr! Would be such an incredible quilters table!
What a beautiful piece! The gold leaf was a nice added touch. As much as you try to restore it to the original condition sometimes you just cannot and must enjoy and appreciate the "flaws" that it now has. The gold leaf just helps one to know this piece has had a life and is ready for a second one. Outstanding job once again.
Never give up on restoring these old classic pieces. Your work is amazing and however they come out its still amazing to watch and learn from.
No matter what project you’re working on, I learn something new! Love all you do!
I needed hinges for my built in medicine cabinet. They were less than ten years old and falling apart. The local ACE, Home Depot, Lowes, no goodsky. Searching online, I discovered San Diego Hardware. From jewelry box to barn door hinges, they had them all, and the medicine cabinet hinge I needed. And these aren't falling apart. (miniature European style hinges)
I don't think there's anyone else that I'm happier to be subscribed to. Keep being yourself, you're doing great.
As soon as you said “I want to do something different with this deep scratch” I thought “Do gold!!!”. You did not disappoint.
Really like this project. The gold leaf looks like a dragon 🐉 to me. So glad to know this credenza won't be joining a landfill. I wish I were closer to you, I have just the place for it in my office.

Yay, it finally happened! I was wondering when someone as talented as you, Dashner, would try the Japanese art of KINTSUGI on wooden furniture! It came out beautifully. You could have even created more gouges and filled them with gold leaf, too. Love it!

The gouge repair reminds me of a Chinese dragon. I wonder if any of the previous owners of your finds see your videos and watch their pieces come back to life...great job as always!
Hey Dash....I love what you do. You always make all of your furniture pieces look beautiful and desirable. Also I thank you for the last 2 1/2 years that helped so many of us get through the pandemic calmly. Thanks!!!!
Your videos help me relax at night, but they also inspire me. I believe in restoration of old things- it's better for your wallet, the planet, and its a challenge. it's beautiful that old furniture can be refreshed so we can continue to appreciate it. thank you for what you do❤
Embracing the imperfections with kintsugi is brilliant!! I learn so much from watching your restorations. Thanks so much!
I don’t mind all the nicks and scratches, they give it history. As long as it is a solid piece.
That's are really nice credenza and you did a great job of bring it back to life. Who ever ends up with the piece is very lucky.
You're so REAL. That's one of the things that keeps me watching. You mess up? Okay.. you'll find a way to fix it. You fixed it right the first time? Cool, you taught us from the start. What more can anyone ask for? Thank you. You are REALLY appreciated!
So I just watched a video of a lady who just bought a château, and the bathroom floor had a huge water stain... and I'm busy typing a comment to helpfully let her know that you've taught me that oxalic acid will help with the stain... and while I'm typing SHE PAINTED THE FLOOR!!! I'm utterly horrified. Some people and their lack of knowledge about important things, I tell you.

I love to see the really damaged ones get a refurbishment. Very satisfying and lovely to see things reused and so painstakingly cared for.
LOVE the idea with the gold accent to make the scratch stand out instead of hiding it.💕👏
I bought 2 credenzas at the second hand store and oiled them and they look like new. I use them to store holiday pieces for decorations and containers. Thank you for restoring this one.
That's amazing dude. I don't think you give yourself enough credit. I learn something new with every video. They're all simple tricks like steaming cracks but they work miracles and even though they're not 100%, off the shelf perfect, they're considerably better than what you had and probably a lot better than anyone else could do! I'd love to see you finish this one even if you have to give it modern hinges. I don't know what you see in these pieces but I'm glad you save them because you do a phenomenal job! I love the longer format too. Gives me more to watch. I think you should try making shorter videos of tips and tricks for helping others like a whole video on steaming out dents with footage from different projects and maybe some experiments with sacrificial pieces of wood just to research what would work best in whatever situation without risking an entire project. You have a wealth of knowledge and I think you make amazing videos!
Its the woods heartbeat... in gold.... love it!
You definitely deserved a black belt in patience discipline. Happy to see your new video!
I really like this desk. It would be perfect for sewing curtains or quilts on without all the excess fabric weight pulling on the onw needle. Amazing job, really nice. I wish I had a place for it, since I sew quilts.
Pretty darn good. Love the gold filling. I’d take it gladly!
And THATS why you save road side finds! I love that credenza. If I had an 8 foot wall I would drive to Minnesota just to pick that up! And I live in Alberta, Canada! Watching you find ways to finish pieces and coming up with solutions is just fascinating! I'm in love with the gold river! 💕
I like that your restoration of this piece kept the rustic charm.
I find it a unique piece, the gold leaf looks actually amazing and matches the brass handles!!!
Love this, the scratch flaw really does look like a river that was meant to be accented in gold!
Looks good. Like the gold leaf. Reminds me of kintsugi, Japanese art of using gold to repair pottery.
Steven: that piece is a honey. It would look so perfect in an mid-century office. How you handled the deep jagged damage on the top using the gold leaf was the way to go. It reminded me of the way the Japanese fix a break in a porcelain piece. They fill the break with gold or silver. There is a name for this which escapes me at this moment. This is something they have done for years. Brilliant! Carol from California

Yup, that’s the Japanese art of Kintsugi.
The scratch fixes are what separates you from an ordinary carpenter. Artistry. Bravo
The gold leaf was brilliant - I love this whole piece!
Love your work and the time you spend to give old broken things a new lease on life. For filling gaps like that where you want it to show more than be camouflaged, I've found melting crayons works well. It's pretty much like your fill sticks but Crayola makes a lot more colors!
Nice work . I like the fact that you embraced the deep gouge and turned it into a gold lightening bold. 👏👏👍
New subscriber. Enjoyable voice over, no gratuitous music. Good job!
I thought the deep scratch looked like a great shape that you could leave in the piece and was so glad you decided to make it a feature! Brilliant choice.

Good morning.
Again, I think you did a great job considering what you started with. Obviously the videos where you're restoring pieces that are in overall good shape and just need some glue and new finish end up prettier but there's something really satisfying about these videos where you rescue pieces that would otherwise end up in a landfill.
Great work. That gold detail was a brilliant solution.
Awesome!! I'm glad you went with the gold leaf!
I've done exactly the same with the gold foil on an old bar stool. I'm so glad you kept that and turned it into something beautiful.
Beautiful. Clever solutions. Love this one.
It's cool to see you not only get better at every basic technique, but put effort into developing new ones. Celebrating imperfections is the way.
Wonderful renovation! Love the gold in the gouge and the indents. Beautiful!🌸
Thank you. Innovative use of the gold leaf. Liked it.

Love the gold leaf!! It is perfectly imperfect… that takes a Master!
I like the gold foil on the deep scratch. Having little scratches left on the top just shows this piece has been used over the years. Good job.

What an awesome piece of work.
Brilliant idea with the gold. Reminds me of Kintsugi, a Japanese repair approach which I love.
I think the gold in that gouge looks neat. It’s more than a little bit like the method of restoring broken pottery with precious metals. It looks interesting with the hardware on the drawers, too.
Really loved watching the process of figuring stuff out, great vid. The table turned out beautiful
