Yes those hubs will need to be locked if you want four-wheel drive, they cannot be controlled through the transfer case that's why the lock is in the hub

You have to really go heavy 4 wheeling to bust them hubs. It's happens I done it before. I recommend the best no plastic, all metal parts hubs, Myself I like the old metal direct drive shifting to engage 4X4. Them electric & piss poor vacuum engage just are not trust worthy enough & most important I put very heavy duty hyd winches front & back very well installed. My old lady is wanting 1 bad. She as much maybe a bigger Hunter & Fisherwoman I guess proper word than I might be. Yes it's nice have Old Lady give the OK to buy the best. I checking out the basic platform frame & running gears set up now. But nothing ruined your trip us get stuck & have to walk. We more likely trailer 2 4x4 ATVs.

I had an old Willys Jeep Utility Wagon with locking hubs. And I agree with you. If you have hubs on the wheels you must lock them to obtain complete four-wheel drive. I generally did not keep mine locked because of mostly street driving, but you could if you wanted to. It won't hurt them but it will hurt fuel economy somewhat. And it's especially convenient if you are going in and out of four-wheel drive terrain. You don't want to be constantly getting in and out of your rig locking and unlocking hubs especially if you suddenly find yourself up to your hubs in cold, muddy water.

This is super clean for a 2013. I'd love to see a modern version of a compact 4x4 class C like this, but only class Bs come this small in the US. The smallest class C RVs start at about 24 ft these days and they don't have 4WD. I like class B vans but the extra width of a class C makes a huge difference in comfort and usability.

@@FrankBullitt390 Plenty of people full time in B vans so it's obviously doable, but there are sacrifices that have to be made. Some people can do it with no problem, but I need a bit more width to not feel claustrophobic. That said, I don't want the extra length, which limits maneuverability. 20 ft is the ideal length for a RV in my opinion because that's the size limit to enter many national parks.

If it drove like a F350, it would have the front leaf springs also part of the conversion. I had my E450 class B+ conversion done at Advanced 4X4 which (like Ujoint) does great conversions. Best thing I did was rip out the stock rear air bags and leaf springs and have new leaf springs made with 6" lift and actually rated for the vehicle weight, unlike when it was manufactured... That alone changed the ride from the back of a UPS truck, to a SUV like ride.

Until you hit a big bump. The rear kitchens were also cursed by many actual owners. We had a rear kitchen 5th wheel,,,,,,,, nothing glass in the kitchen,,, at all. If it’s not secured down in the cabinets or drawers, it will fly up, then down and imagine all 8 dinner plates busted. We knew better but got tired of the mess (we lived on miles and miles of gravel roads to get anywhere and yes they could get rough.). We did break some things, but the groceries had to be sealed shut, etc. it can be a challenge and the majority don’t like rear kitchens. That’s why they are hard to find. This van is nice and short so it won’t be as bad, but the farther the rear overhang, the worst it is.

Plus riding up top is more enjoyable when you can see where you’re going. I have a K20 with a 9.5 slide in camper. Running the beach is great. Am assuming the weight is about 10,000 lbs. didn’t hear how big the water, black and grey tanks were. How much propane? Am looking at this and comparing it to mine, and the only good thing on this is being able to get into the living quarters without going outside. (I use to be able to squeeze thru the back window). It was nice seeing back up lights, big and bright enough to illuminate behind you.

I had to stop this video at 2 minutes to just say thank you! Thank you for the walk around view of the motor home while you gave us some history and details! Too many times, folks put the camera on 'themselves' while they talk on and on about the item, before we even get to see it. Total waste of time. I move on to another video. Now, back to see more of this motor home!

If it's considered all season that mean the tanks are encased and sealed off from the bottom. Like my unit it has tank heaters to keep it from freezing. It might have a vent to allow the gas heater to vent some heat below for the pipes.

Hey all - I’m in the Denver, CO area and have just began my search for a 25+ year old JDM camper like the one in this video. My concern is, I’m not mechanically savvy and I’m not even sure what the part availability would be like, but is it even worth my time to get excited about eventually buying one of these or is it likely that someone in the Colorado region can work on/order parts on these if need be? Thanks, in advance! -Kevin

In my opinion these shouldn't be considered 4 season because of how thin the walls including the ceiling is. Any vehicle can be heated with enough gas. But if the insulation is great and thick enough walls, floor, and ceiling then summer time will need less ac and winter time less gas.

  • @randybobandy9828

I'm pretty sure most of these are 6in thick roofs with closed cell foam. Thats a good amount to keep heat in especially at 5R per inch =30R Insulation. The walls however are thin @ 2.5in thick so only a r12. It's enough to consider it good enough for the winter. There is nothing besides thicker walls and ceiling that will make it more insulated besides removing windows

This one in the video is a 2014 model, I cant speak directly to that year. We have a 2018 Adventurer 24 from the same manufacturer. We used it this winter as a 'guest cottage' in the driveway. It was fine thru -15C winter nights. Our previous unit was a 2008, and the insulation was not nearly as well done back then, it was not useable here in the winter. The nice thing about the way ours is done, nice warm floor when you get up in the morning. We didn't find propane consumption to bad, two weeks of -15C overnight, then -5C thru the day, used up half of a tank of propane. It's certainly not gonna hold up to a winter in Alaska, but, for the areas where most folks go to winter in a motorhome, it'll be fine

@gerryrozema8338 if you are considering using fuel/propane to heat the motorhome then all motorhomes can be considered 4 season. My belief is that someone can leave the motorhome for 10 hours or so without needing to have the heat on and not worry about the water pipes or tanks freezing up to minus -10/-15 Celsius. After that could use heat or preferably heated pads to keep the pipes and tanks from freezing amd because of the insulation they don't need heat to keep warm but can just have a sweater on. Maybe heat intermediatly.

@@alisedighi3844 Minus 15 Celcius with 2 feet of snow on the ground is not 'put on a sweater' weather, and without some form of heat, anything will freeze up after two weeks of that. If you think you can live in that weather for two weeks by putting on a sweater, then I would posit you have never been exposed to a real winter.

  • @alisedighi3844

@gerryrozema8338 my point is many motorhomes that they say are 4 season are not really four season. As in ky opinion it takes more then double glazed windows for a motorhome/rv to be winter rated.
