Thank you for sharing this! Taking the pressure off and going back to experimenting with content could really be a game changer. I sometimes catch myself wanting to start from scratch and delete my existing accounts and one of the reasons for that might be that I want to go back to that no-pressure experimenting phase of my content 🙈

I've been going back and forth on wanting to do this too. I was literally signing out to create a new one on a whim a minute ago. Then I'd have tons of content to post fresh and more strategically while I make new stuff lol. It's hard not to feel like you're shadow banned or stuck because your audience isn't engaged so you get no reach etc. It's kind of chicken and egg scenario or something.

I think the algorithms had a bit of a change around the time yours spiked because mine also did the same I went from 30k around Xmas I’m now at 70k and I’m gaining 1k a day. My mum had a similar think happen she went from 6k to 30k. We’ve both had crazy viral videos. I think it’s just. Been better at picking up good content and sending it to the right audience. It’s like it’s just serving up more authentic stuff viewers want to see.

Love your videos Katie. How do you feel about IG taking away reels bonus & do you think it’ll change how content creators show up?

The downside of relying on one or a few viral videos, is when the 'wrong' reel goes viral (meaning, a reel that is a bit further away from your main content). The followers you then gain, don't follow you for you or your main content: they either jump on the popularity-bandwagon or they start following you because they like that rare deviation from your main content. Meaning, you won't get any connection or sales from those people. People are actually very unlikely to unfollow when your content isn't for them, because the algorithm will hide it for them and they won't even see it. They simply forget you exist, and you are stuck with useless followers. So, many followers still don't result in your business growing. It's better to aim for and have a smaller, on-point following than a big bandwagon following.

I’ve been stuck at a lil over 900 for yrs!

Everyone loves to learn about how much people make, especially in content creation. Your niche is also popular since everyone wants to grow their social media presence. I am not sure what a similar thing would be for me as a lifestyle blogger. What can I talk about that could potentially be viral? Something people want to know about but that people won't talk about... I'd have to think about that for a bit. I am working on deciding what content I want to put on each social platform. KZread and Shorts is going to be all beauty/fashion content. IG and TikTok... no idea yet. I've been throwing spaghetti at both and nothing has stuck. Thank you for posting this video! As you can see it has really given me some food for thought.

With your content love to know what kind of team dynamic you have going on? do you edit shoot post etc? I just keep finding im too burnt out on creating but never getting anywhere because I can't keep up. I have 3 kids too so Having a minimal strategy is what im looking for I know that means it probably will take longer though.

This is my first video I’ve watched of yours so forgive me if you regularly do this! My opinion is that if you want to make the most money, KZread is where it’s at. But it’s a LONG game. It took me over 3 years on here to hit six figures and even that is not typical for most creators!

Haha I try to but my life has been crazy lately with travel commitments 😅 I agree youtube is my main revenue driver for sure. I’ve been making videos on this channel since 2011 so trust me I totally know that it takes a long time to build it into a business 🙈 but it’s very worth it!

I think you should use your phone for long form videos. I started a channel in 2017 with my phone and I didn’t buy a camera until I was monetized

what i don’t understand about reels though is people i know personally who have a lot of followers get significantly less like on reels than regular picture posts

I love this video and I love how you ended it! I really aspire to have less expectations for my content on Instagram because it can really affect my mental health when I don't hit certain metrics and if every post doesn't perform as well as some of my more popular ones. Which isn't healthy! I want to have fun with it. So that's definitely my goal for 2023 too to be a little more chill.
