Doctor Mike is so respectful! As a boxer most imagine tough guys who act rude and have big egos, but Mike completely breaks that stereotype and is super cool! Fist bumps, no trash talk, admits to loss and doesn't look for excuses. Truly an honorable doctor and boxer.

Not really, like I get what you mean but it’s a fight there are no limits, they were trying to psych Dr. Mike out and it worked as he said he didn’t feel nervous but he wasn’t excited either. I understand how what they did could seem wrong but when you become a pro fighter your payday will be cut if you lose

As a fellow martial artist and boxer, the disrespect shown by Avila is absolutely sickening. His sportsmanship and conduct are unforgivable in any sport. Dr Mike is just that kind of person, there's no place for him in this kind of sport. He's kind, good, friendly... But to be a good fighter you have to be an aggressor, a predator... He went there expecting good sportsmanship and solidarity, but found a bunch of animals. I feel bad for him. Feel bad for his failed expectations from this sport.

The fact that Dr. Mike walked out of that stadium with poise and sportsmanship deserves major props and to me is more important than him winning. He got out of his comfort zone and gave his best effort. If I were a doctor with all the knowledge of what could happen to me I would be terrified to get in the ring.

The Diaz camp is like that. They are from Stockton and they are known for being jerks, trash talking, getting into your head, etc. Think heel in wrestling. It's partially to physic out opponents, but It's mostly just their brand and how they promote fights. They are the "tough street kids".

Its for entertainment purposes, they’re all friends after the fight. Its the reason Mc gregor was so big and scary, his trash talk was top notch and that attracts pay per view. Noone wants to see two respectful fighters, viewers want tension. Its all an act most of the time

As a boxer myself, knowing and owning that you lost a fight says a lot about your character. It says that you’re a true, real fighter and know your own limits and know how good you are and how much better you can become. When I lost a fight after a win streak I was broken but I realized that in life you’re never gonna get a unlimited win streak and when you accept that like Dr Mike did, everything gets better because you know that inside you won the battle against yourself. Same, I've been a martial artist for 12 years and continuing. After sparring matches we would always at least give each other a handshake. That's why I'm not a fan of boxing because most people are incredibly cocky. I feel as though doctor mike was respectful but he also had his game face on, which there's no problem with that in my mind

It felt like the disrespect was more for the camera than for the doctor. A bit of kayfabe. I mean, he gave a fist bump at the beginning of the face to face, and they hugged it out for a moment once the match was over.

Love how Dr. Mike didn’t respond to the shove or the literal legally defined assault backstage. Could have been petty and lashed out, but nope, kept that cool calm demeanor that you would expect from a doctor. This man has held peoples literal lives in his hands and it shows through his composure. SO SO MUCH respect doc.

I've always been proud to see what you're doing as a doctor. I'm even more proud of what you did in that ring & events before it. Treating opponents with respect is a sign of humility and HEART! My opinion? You WON way before you even entered that ring.

I have mad respect for u for showing up to that fight. I think that alone shows how big ur balls truly are. I’ve had mixed feelings about u but ur sportsmanship in this fight was like no other and although I’m a nobody u now have my utmost respect.

No shame, he made the walk, he went in there and tried his best and fell short. That’s life. Now he has the correct information to make adjustments. It’s freaking amazing that an actual medical doctor could even find the time to train and take boxing seriously, and do well despite the outcome. That’s a victory in itself. @@ambrusfodor8047 as someone that has fought alot, looking at doctor mike, he seemed a bit too docile, he was holding back a lot. he wasn't aggressive enough, dunno what mental roadblock was bothering him, but he seemed to be holding back a lot. The other guy was a lot more aggressive so he won, he didn't have the best technique either but due to being aggressive he won that fight.

Nothing to be ashamed of Doc. It was just a matter of his ring experience, you should be proud of yourself.

You can clearly tell he's a doctor. He was more respectful than any boxer I've ever seen, so keep going with it.

Honestly mad respect to you doctor Mike. Despite being disresepcted and taunted you went out their and gave it a shot. You may of lost but you stayed true to your fans and still made a video about it. Don't worry! Keep Going! You'll get him next time!

doctors make terrible fighters lol. They have the desire to heal and help people they would never stand a chance against someone that's set out to cause and inflict pain on people

The difference in this fight was not technical, it was the difference of a lifetime of wanting to help vs. a lifetime of wanting to hurt people (not in a sense of one being better than the other)

Not to say anything specific and maybe it doesnt even correlate to this case but i think it often comes down to the intellect of the person etc. Some people dont have as much power in their head as in their hands. Of course, in this case it was Mikes first big fight and thats never easy but seeing other teams behaviour...idk. Maybe it is just a show and thats it but I feel like its not that easy for humane and kind people to put up such a show, they are just different people.

You may have lost the fight but you’re sportsmanship was there. You were totally respectful. You truly are a legend!💜

Don't give up unless this is really not something you want to continue doing. You did admirably in the ring honestly. You didn't get knocked out, you stayed on your feet and you blocked some of his best punches. You are new to this yet even some of the commentators praised you. On top of that you remained professional and respectful, unlike your opponent who comes across as rude and full of himself. Maybe you didn't win, but winning isn't everything. The experience that you had, the people you connected with on the way and the friendships you made. Those are priceless.

Watched it live and EVERYONE in my family said he should never fight again. Zero reason to risk your health when you can’t beat guys with a few pro fights.

Listen, it’s apart of the game.. you build animosity and beef even when it’s not there to give you motivation and to hype yourself up. They were respectful and friendly after the fight.

Trash talk is part of the game, it’s not necessarily immature, it’s just part of the promotional outlook. The important thing is that the beef is settled in the ring and afterwards they can be cool with each other

Chris Avila is a legitimate boxer, and you went out there and put on an amazing performance as an outsider to the combat sports world. Be proud that you walked out there where mamy others would've folded.

Yeah of course but if you mean professional and seasoned then no lol. Mike did great either way but I don’t think he should be getting punched in the face when he doesn’t have to. Just train boxing as a hobby and do occasional sparring sessions if you feel the need to fight someone

A lot of guys in martial arts are like that. No idea why Avila was so dissy. I'm guessing it was just an act for the cameras. I wouldn't be surprised if the Doc here met him later and they got on swimmingly.

That was an incredibly respectable fight Sir !! You showed lots of heart and a solid chin but also landed some good punches on him. You can honestly be proud of that performance despite the final result.

Don’t discourage yourself, you were not an “easy fight” against him. You went all 4 rounds on your feet, an easy fight wouldn’t have lasted till the end. Props to you🙌

Not everybody is going to be kind like what happened to you but it's always so important to stay calm and do exactly what you did which can be super hard.

Seeing Dr. Mike be so polite and dignified is awesome. Trash talk and trying to rattle one's opponents outside of the ring/court/feild is kinda like a tiny dog making a show if being tough. Big hugs Dr. Mike, better luck next time.

Honestly I'm just as impressed with how he took his loss as I would have been if he won. He stayed polite, looked at what he could learn from the loss, and allowed himself to be imperfect. He took a risk and did his best, can't ask for more than that.

Dude, just getting in the ring with another professional fighter is a win, never mind you were still standing at the end of it. That alone is something most people will never understand or experience. You did great and should be proud of yourself.

That fight was crazy to watch. Mike just tanks those hits, I've never boxed in my life but it has to be unnerving to be punching a guy and he stays completely composed.

DR. MIKE WAS GREAT IN THAT WAY. THAT WHOLE OTHER TEAM WAS DISRESPECTFUL.

They tried to Rattle and break you mentally but you stuck through it. Nates camp is known to be over the top with trash talk and all that but I'm glad you stuck through it. Your personality is unbreakable man and I'm proud you did it!!
