This has NEVER happened in the NHL
Спорт
The NHL has NEVER seen what the Tampa Bay Lightning achieved last night against the Carolina Hurricanes. Antti Raanta gave up 8 goals on just 14 shots as the Lightning scored 8 goals on 14. That is a 57.1% shooting percentage, the highest recorded in NHL history. I felt horrible for Raanta as he really had no shot at saving about 6 of those 8 in a night that marked the return of Andrei Vasilevskiy for the Lightning. It was a wild game and I cover it all in todays NHL hockey video!

Another hilarious stat that came from this game was that *_Nikita Kucherov had AS MANY POINTS AS RAANTA HAD SAVES!_*

There's something to be said about leaving your goaltender jobless for an entire period and then starting the next period with a string of penalty kills against a top power play unit.

And all 8 goals were high scoring chances. It wasn't like Raata let in 8 weak ones. The Canes defence went totally to sleep in the last 40 minutes.

This is more Carolina’s coaching’s fault then Raanta. To allow your team to pick up so many penalties without any repercussions, as well as letting walk over your goalie on said power plays, as well as leaving him in for 8 goals against. Pull him at 3 if that’s what’s happening! Change the pace and call a timeout!

Brind'Amour: "It wasn't like they were his fault. The first four were just wide-open bombs and kind of a weird bounce on the one. But the other thing was that I've had to put [Kochetkov] in bad spots a lot. I've thrown him in there quite a bit halfway through games and I didn't really want to do that. After the fifth one, I probably should have taken him out, but the game was pretty much over at that point. You're worried about the other guy too."
As a Canes fan I would have never imagined such a rough start to our season, especially given our off season 😭
It would take the Sabres 273 shots to score 8 goals.
Was hoping for a good first game with Vask back. This was more than I could have asked for!!!

Reminds me of a Chicago Wolves game I saw many years ago against the Iowa Wild. The Wolves scored 10 goals on 17 shots.

if you pay attention to that channel, you'd think the entire league is bipolar how they bounce between broken on a loss and unstoppable on a single win.
That's not all raanta's fault, all of those shots were really hard, almost unsavable defense needs to step up
This is what happens when the rest of the team doesn't come to play and leaves their goalie in a no-win situation. And what about the coach? Did he want to destroy Raanta's stats, or was he like the rest of the team and just didn't care?
@FlyHenryFly

bro. it was FOURTEEN SHOTS. sure they were all not on Raanta. but Kucherov had as many points as Raanta did saves. if you only give up 14 shots and win a large amount of faceoffs, there is no reason for that to happen. also the backup Kochetkov has not been good either this season.

Pretty sweet watching this game last night
The theme of this season, seems to be, maximum chaos!
carolina needs to flush that game like it never happened. Thats what brindamour should be telling them.
Was my first Hockey game. I found it pretty entertaining. Section 102
There is one reason and one reason alone that statistics cannot predict the outcome of sporting events and that is the anomaly. This game is a prime example of a statistical anomaly which just can't be predicted. We've all seen games where the announcers say that one team could have had more goals if it hadn't been for a couple of posts and a couple of incredible saves. Here there were no posts and no incredible saves and yet, you really can't blame the goalie for more than perhaps 2 of the goals!
I didn't know Jack Campbell was playing for the Canes now.
WOW! This record may never be broken. The NHL made it that much harder when they changed the official stats from 15 shots to 14.
come on Brind'Amour, how do you leave a guy in after 5 and 6 goals on that tiny number of shots...obviously your guy is having an off day, that's just embarrassing to leave him in to get shelled like that. I mean that was worse than the game when Patrick Roy quit the Montreal Canadiens.
This game was depressing...
Textbook Stamkos on that goal…8 G on 14 SOG, just when you think you know…you don’t
Just glad it didn't happen against the Leafs.
They had more goals than Carolina had saves! As a former goalie, that hurts.

This should be a life lesson "Save the shit talking after the game's over."

Where's David Ares when you need him?
Raanta wanted to be in NHL record book so he let them all in.

The Canes were in the Lightning zone all game. But Carolina couldn't get it on the net either, they only managed 25 shots, the first time Tampa allowed less than 30 in more than a season against them.
The bunting effect
Refs only hide the whistles for some teams.. Kinda boring.
Was at this game and I walked out halfway through after paying $100 to watch the Canes get their asses kicked. This team is just piss poor this season and has took a huge step back. We have a major goalie problem, no consistency on defense and this BS system the coach has us running isn't working anymore. Teams have figured the Canes out. All you have to do is stop the forecheck and you're almost guaranteed a win
Only Custer had a worse save %....
I believe it was January 1962, the Leafs lost 11 - 0 at home to the lowly Bruins. Back up Don Simmons in net. Next night at the defending Cup Hawks, Leafs win 2 - 0 with Simmins in net. Just saying, the Bruins game.....it's just two points in the standings. Canes are too good, just one of those games.

POV: when I try playing goalie on be a pro

The canes are a fast skilled group of forwards, who dont like any rough play. Their defense is trash Burns is a shadow of his former self. Watching him be completely ineffective in the Panthers game vs the Canes, his once feared shot from the point on the pp was blocked by forwards with their stick blades and no stick suffered damage. The fact that Tampa, riding a high with Vasilevsky back throttling a feckless Canes team is not shocking, whats shocking is people still being shocked that the hurricanes are not that good.
