    I am fairly new to your channel I found you when I had Covid during July 4 weekend. I really appreciate that you have a lot to offer different variety of information and topics. I enjoy hi-fi audio (speakers,cassette decks, cd players, and receivers etc. etc.) I just want to send a message saying that thank you for all you do I really do enjoy it. Chris

    Any thoughts on an amp for a home studio application? I have some Tannoy PBM5 II speakers, and I was looking at the Aiyima A07. I'm enjoying the channel. Thanks!

    I enjoyed the review section, I think the limited engagement might have to do with people not being really into powered speakers. If it was say a new set of headphones (Hifiman etc) and people could ask questions about it live I think there would be more chat on them. Just my thoughts and I may be wrong but that was my impression. See you next week.

    I enjoyed the live review, I dont think that everyone comes in at the sametime. So there was questions that were off subject. I always miss the live chats and the Sunday zooms because I work third shift. But if I was working days, I'd miss the live chats as well, lol. Working sucks, lol.

    Question: WIth the powered speakers, does the space used by the amplifier and power supply components affect the sound of the speaker compared to the slave that does not have that stuff inside it?

  • @cheapaudioman

    @cheapaudioman

    Жыл бұрын

    in theory, yes. In practice I've never heard a difference. there would be a reduction in the volume of the cabinet in the speaker with the power amp, but I don't think it's drastic enough of a change to affect the low frequency performance of that speaker. Thanks so much for supporting the channel!

    Powernode is fine with Elac Ub52 and will drive the Elac UF52 floorstanders too. 80 watts class D - open and good dynamics.

    Just an FYI - Uturn is located in Woburn - say WOO-burn - MA. Interesting speakers. I just realized - you can use the single speaker cable with the Uturn speakers? Yet another variable that can affect vinyl playback is resonance of the removable headshell and/or in the tonearm.

    Randy, I really like the idea of the live review. I have some suggestions. Perhaps have some videos of you hooking up/testing said product ready. You could run them and do a voiceover during the livestream. I love your freewheeling style but maybe a bit more organization would help with the presentation. Sometimes it gets hard to follow. I love your channel and look forward to more live reviews…

    The live reviews will work, but I was expecting a couple of things. It's great that you show the speakers and go over the design and the technical aspects of them. And it's great that you explain how they sound. But it would have been so much better if you had a really good microphone and ran some test tracks through the speakers/amps/etc. that you review. Sure, YT compresses stuff on here, but with a good pair of headphones, one would get a sense of what the equipment actually sounds like. I can read people's opinions about audio equipment all day, but I can't hear it myself, nor can I afford to drive across the country to hear someone's system in person, much less afford to buy most of the equipment that you review.

    Reasonable comments, but sampling the sound of gear and posting it on KZread is way too much affected by whatever the viewer has going on to be reliably helpful. Then again, I have watched a few A/B/C audio comparisons and, um, did find them helpful! So there you go.

    Future speaker review recommendation, not that you don't have enough to do, but take a look at the Heco Aurora line. I have the 700 towers and oh my god they are very nice for the price.

    thanks for answering my question. Still looking for DAC with Sub out and Volume knob. I have A2+ desktop Powered speakers, 8" Monoprice powered sub, and it runs off the PC onboard sound card. onboard is better than A2+ USB DAC. I lost my volume knob with A2+ volume know being behind the speaker... so when Randy shouts! I scramble my mouse to adjust volume... I need a volume knob. Cheers!

    I’d go with a moderately priced pro-sumer audio interface (Presonus, Focusrite, Motu, etc.). You’ll have a choice of balanced and various unbalanced inputs and outputs. The numbers in the description, usually something like “4x6,” indicates MONO input and output channels, you’ll need 2 of each to put through a single stereo signal. In addition to the analog signals, these units virtually all accept a computer’s USB audio, tend to have very good quality DACs, and will also take line or mic level inputs to feed to your computer. They also usually have one or two competent headphone outs, capable of handling all but the most extreme loads (Stax…). Some recent models offer various tube emulation options, often based on guitar amplifiers. You can pick up a good unit for well under US $ 225, or save a bit and buy used for well under $150 through a reputable store like B&H. The only caveat is to be aware of DAC’s limitations. Older units tend to top out at 96kHz or even less, while newer units offer sampling rates double that or better (though even today, very, very few engineers record at more than 96kHz, and 48kHz remains many studios’ house standard).

    I’ve had a pair of Klipsch Ref R820Fs from good ol’ Best Buy for a few years. Mainly for AV duties. They’re kinda “meh”. Then I heard a pair of R8000Fs at a show here a months ago and was like, “ “Ooooohhhh, ok. That’s what’s supposed to be happening.” That’s what my 820Fs are pretending to be. Hmmm. I also heard some Fortes for the 1st time and sorry, I won’t be upgrading to the 8000s cuz well, Forte 4s, man. Amazing.
