I’m in the best shape of my life just bench pressed 315 at 180lbs and 5’11 while going through cancer treatment (immunotherapy I won’t lose my hair). Id like to chalk up some of that grit and toughness to my USMC background. No I’m not lying, I can prove it. I struggled with being so immunocompromised from certain medications for 11 months straight, some of the side effects almost made me take my own life, psychosis, insomnia, hallucinations, brain zaps, change in appearance, easy bruising, deterioration of joints… it all really sucked, I couldn’t exercise or leave the house at all for 11 months. Fast forward a year and a half and I’ve bounced back 10 fold.

I read something on Facebook a while back that somebody had put up. It said.. You can either keep going through the pain or you can give up. But both hurt . The message that I took away from that is if you're already in pain you might as well push through instead of giving up because the pain of failure it's going to sting just as bad. At that point you failed your goal and you're in pain without meeting that goal.

Don't be too stubborn in every situation. You must be flexable, "be like water." It's how I keep getting blocked by girls, no joke. There is no "never give up", or "fall down seven times, get up 8" in that situation. Either you are good enough in that moment or you miss that chance forever. I wish I was less stubborn, I'd have a better history. I wish I was more patient too, if I just waited until I was ready things would have worked out.

I don't know who that was talking about self esteem around 2 minutes in, but it was not Goggins. Also, it is not really true. Self esteem comes from having a concise story about yourself. That might come from getting stuff done all the time and therefore your story will be "I get stuff done". It might also come from being an idiot, and therefore you don't tell yourself a long complicated story. It can also come from lying to yourself over and over again. Whoever that was talking lacked some humility, and therefore was able to tell himself a short concise story: "I figured out where self esteem comes from! = I'm a genius". In reality whoever that was has a long way to go, and your are better off not listening to overconfident people who don't really have anything to teach you. But Goggins does have deeper truths to teach you. His message of being honest with yourself, and then facing your fears IS a very valuable lesson to follow. Listen to Goggins. Don't listen to random dudes who are over confident.

All due respect the loneristic part is just something that we need to change in society. Community should be the default. But this weird ass country that service people fight for is painted more and more by war. So anyone who doesnt.immediately go down.the trodden path is immediately outliered. Humans are social. Goggins is more in touch with his animalistic side. Survival makes a person this way. But its not THE only way. Lean on your people folks. You don't need that momentary glory all the damn time. You don't have to defy expectations. Meeting or managing expectations is just fine. Lifes a marathon not a furnace and anvil being struck by Thor himself. Winners and losers is truly a losers mindset. Because it smacks of the abused becoming the abuser vibes. When people say "participation trophies" its fuckin embarassing they think that way. That artificial scarcity bullshit is why people become animals and hoard wealth and discourage or discredit their fellow man and woman from reaching their full potential. Don't be a feelingless gorilla. Just accept life is exactly what you make it. And if you live in extremes, you'll miss everything in between in human experience. Not every top-shelf experience is on the top-shelf.

I'm debating this with myself, but just the details. I feel like framing the desire to improve and the drive to do so as strength is good. Dont lie and say you can lift 400lbs but dont say God damn I am so weak either. Say I can lift 100lbs and I am dedicated and strong enough to stay constant and lift more over time. Especially dont discount any progress that HAS been made.

Also, you could left 400 lbs… if you master that 100 lbs. … increase repetition & resistance this will condition your body and after time (awhile) you would be able to lift 400 lbs.

Wow man, this is exactly what I needed to hear. So much wisdom and passion in such a short time, thank you for making this. Here's a quote from a great teaching I read about how to build a strong foundation in life, it's as epic as this video of yours. "Do not withdraw from the face of life, for you were sent here to serve this world under the very circumstances that are emerging now. Your social mind will want to hide and protect itself, but your deeper Mind is here for a greater purpose. But for this greater purpose to be realized, experienced and fulfilled, you must build a strong foundation within yourself and around yourself." It's called *_Bringing Your Life into Balance_* by Marshall Vian Summers. Thanks again!

If you enjoy challenging ideas and if mastery and masculinity are subjects that interest you, I invite you to explore the videos I share on the Mastery Order Channel. Challenge yourself with some ideas about manhood, explore your masculine potential to the maximum, and become the kind of man you would admire. We can only better ourselves together, as men among men, so I invite you to use what I share and, of course, share your own opinions so that others can benefit from them as well. Looking forward to your points of view. All the best to you!

To be fair, climbing 3k ft 3 miles hike is pretty common in Colorado. There are many Coloradans who do that everyday as part of their workout routine. Do I do it? no, but Its not a big deal for me to go out and hike that much on a weekend.

It's rare. The only way that happens is for something to go horribly wrong. Mathew Principle/Pereto Distribution. Pretty common phenomina from economics to the amount of sunlight trees get in a forest. "To those who have everything, more will be given. To those who have nothing, everything will be taken." You could probably find ex-military either homeless or with blue collar work in that situation, though I doubt they'd say anything inspiring.
