For those that don't know 1 star = finishing in top 32 of the Killer League for the month. It takes a lot of grinding to get there because people absolutely do compete to get it. There are a few players with 50-60+ stars! So they have basically been playing KI well for the past 6+ years non-stop.

*top 32, and I don’t think anyone has over 70. The highest is ‘btsens3i’ with 66, then Carnitas with 65, and then Boss Shaolin with 62. I’m sure someone will get there someday, though.

@DINKLE BERG not that they have no life. There are people like myself that can compete at a decent level and play anything. Then there are people that pick games and stick with it and play at a high level. This is what pros do

honestly Hisako to me was always so sick. there really isn't that many characters like her in fighting games, but that can be said for a bunch of the characters from KI lol

Hisako is the character who inspired me to really get deep into a fighting game for the first time. Everything in her kit just feels so darn good to use.

Hisako's menacing walk is so cool

naa the 15 star was scared of out his mind facing max. it's why he took hisako. she's a hero no one plays and poor max bearly knows what she does much less how to stop her. If you noticed she had 100 wrath and max just started throwing hisako cause he didnt want to play the parry guessing game.

It's not that janky. It's a wall-splat ender, so Max traveled some distance, but dude did it right after the opener, so it's breakable.

I think fifteen stars is basically "KI, sleep, repeat" territory.

Knew a person online on Xbox named LEFT 4 DEAD PRO. Shit you not this account was L4D2 all day everyday. Me and another guy added him. They never joined invites or responded to messages or had anything in their bio besides a few call of duty games which they 100%'d. We just know they lived and breathed left 4 dead 2. Until one day after a year of first meeting them, the GT changed to something else and they were playing Sonic and racing games like NFS. I'll never forget that character.

Gotta say, video edits have been on point as of late! Small flourishes that make funny bits even funnier without being intrusive at all.

Killer Stars are a mindgame by themselves. The more someone has, the stronger you assume they are. You literally just have to not let it fluster you and you'll immediately have an easier time. That being said it's very hard to not let it get to you, especially when your opponent has 32 stars. (Real actual number of stars I encountered once. I took a health bar and that was good enough for me.) It's also very hard to pin down how long it takes someone to get their stars, as you can only get one every month if you're in the top 32. 15 stars specifically would be at least 15 months of playing the game consistently enough to stay in the top 32. (And that's assuming you didn't fall out of top 32 a single time.) It essentially breaks down to: A long fucking time.

I don’t think you have to get them consecutively, though. You can get a star one month, fall out of Top 32 the next month, and then get a star the next month if you make it back by the end of that third month. I got one in mid-2019 but haven’t played consistently enough to place again since. Someday, though.

@@shinraknives That's exactly right, which is what makes it so hard to determine exactly how long it took for someone to get their stars. Their first killer star could've been a lucky break, and only got their second after another two months. I've got 2 killer stars on my Steam save and those will never go away, but Ranked isn't active enough on Steam for me to consistently play there.

Anyone wondering undead gamer was at combo breaker 2019. He made it to top 24. He's legit.

There aren't a lot of fighting games I have interest in going back and trying for the first time, but this game and Third Strike easily peak my interest every time I watch someone play them.

I hope one day i run into Max playing KI online. It'll definitely be a fun match

Hisako is the character that truly got me into fighting games. I always dabbled in them but when I picked it up on PC and saw I could be a spooky ghost girl I was SOLD. Her play style is SUPER fun and I love doing mix ups

If it wasn't for Max's love of Killer Instinct, I wouldn't have realized that I suffer from the Mandela effect as, while I've always been aware of the KI announcer and have quoted it for decades, I don't believe I've actually ever played Killer Instinct... apparently yelling "C-C-C-Combo Breaker" while playing any 90s fighting games was a thing 🤣

I just noticed that the menu music of this game heavily reminds me of a lot of music from the old flash game Sonny. Which is a great thing cause Sonny had AMAZING music. The flash games not the mobile game version.

I played Killer Instinct Gold back on the N64 when that came out and invested much of time. I missed out on this game as it didn't release on the PlayStation system 😪

I never even knew there were stars. I remember watching max play this game 9 years ago, It’s crazy how others keep playing it till now, non stop. I quit because I got bored of it, I don’t have the long term determination playing fighting games. It’s the same with street fighter and mortal kombat, I suck at all of them 😂
