Why is it a Eclipse 2 USA made in Japan? Shouldn't it be a Eclipse 2 Japan?

No. Made for US market. Still built in Japan. He explains it in this short video…

I've owned this guitar for over 10 years. The most important thing to know about this is that I've had over 10 guitars during this time, but it remains my main studio and concert guitar throughout this time.

I've got a white USA Esp Eclipse with the red active Gary Holt pickups installed... I've been playing my other guitars lately and forgot that I still owned it. For the last 2 nights I've pulled it out of the pile and fell in love with it all over again. You can just feel it's quality when you 1st pick it up and hear it. The stuff of dreams for me 😍

Same. My old Eclipse has been lying in the case for almost 3 years. I took it out, realised it needed a pro set-up and now it plays like butter. I'll never neglect mine again.

In fact, Alexi’s favourite guitar was his ESP Eclipse and played it at home all the time, but he used it on a bunch of records too but it’s mostly not seen. Interestingly enough, you cannot buy the ESP version, the E-II is the top tier available on the market, unless it’s the custom shop one

I have a Wine Red Eclipse I bought 2 years ago . I haven't touched my Gibson Les Paul since then . But I immediately installed Seymour Duncan's . Now I definitely need a Re - Fret job cuz I've worn the Frets down to nothing . Definitely my favorite Guitar of all time ! 🎸 I just read some of the other comments stating some of these Guitars don't have the extra 2 Frets . That's odd , mine doesn't have a Floyd Rose but it does have the extra 2 Frets .

I have the SE-1000 with the Duncans instead of the EMGs that looks the same. It’s an incredible guitar. Pickups have so much output, I have to reign it in, but it makes for really dynamic stuff and a huge range of sounds. Sick guitar

I've got a korean LTD EC-1000, I've wanted to put the gold fishman fluences in it. It looks as good as I imagined.

I like the version of this guitar with the silver hardware and binding.

I don’t usually like Les Paul styled single cuts since they have limited neck access. I like the Les Paul styled double cuts floating around out there like the Hamer Sunburst or Yamaha Revstar

I've got the LTD version and even though I don't play it as much now, I'll never part with it because it changed my life

Big ESP fan here, and if you think the "Thin U" neck shape is good, you should try the "Extra thin U" found on some Esp USA and up and the Esp ltd JM-II (josh middleton from sylosis/architects signature) Now that is truly the best. I have 2 eii's and the extra thin U from the JM-II blew me away! You should try it out

I never realized that they were set necks in 2010! At least there is one thing that makes me feel better about my 2018 e2 bb not having esp on the headstock.... #neck-thru!! I have to agree there is no comparing to an esp standard, mine has been absolutely abused and shows nothing!

Hate to be that guy, but it's "set-thru" which is still a set neck, but with a much better cutaway. I'm not quite sure if it's set further into the body or if it's just marketing, but either way, it's 100% better than the mini traditional block on the older ESP Standards/first generation E-IIs! And I think yours has back binding as well, also very sick.

I credit you for the mods I have on mine (graphtec nv2 bridge and an18 volt mod) I tried the 24 volt variety but it just seems a little...... Burpy?? And the battery died way too fast, anyway... Thanks for the info about the necks! Also, there is something about the joint that is impressive ( I can tune a custom slinky 10-54 set up to e standard and without any relief!!

I never, or haven’t, made it past the LTD’s (yet) but a full blown ESP was always calling. Swapped to Schecter once upon a time, but one of these days.

Officially, I think so. But colloquially it's any black LPC with gold hardware. Like if you search it on eBay, it returns more 2-humbucker models than 3 and even some dual P90 guitars

@@agufish gotcha! I always see it's as the triple just cause of the official model they used to do. I'd still have the E-II myself! The original Jackson Monark was superb but the build finish was horrendous, had to send 3 back!

I have the red 256 should I pony up the extra 500 for the 1000? Is it worth it ? The 256 sounds good though stock. I mean how much better could the 1000 be? Edit : Bought used Emg pickups instead for it. Totally hear the difference and worth it .

Just bought my dream guitar, Jackson RRT 5 , black with gold hardware. I’ve wanted one since I saw Randy Rhodes playing one . It was that or an ESP KH demonology.

*higher-end, yes. As good as LTDs are, this is even better. Also 12" fingerboard radius instead of 14", 22 frets instead of 24 but better neck pickup placement. New LTDs have those stainless steel frets, though.

Dean Zelinsky Z-glide necks and the ergonomic .strandberg necks could be at the top too, but haven't personally tried either. Really want both but I plan to get a Dean Zelinsky Tagliare ATW, so glad I can configure it like a one-off I really liked with trans blonde flame maple and a leopard pickguard. Has like 19 or so tone options, plus they have pickups that are humbuckers but act as true single coils rather than half a humbucker so not the full tone of a true single coil. Another configuration I'd like is cherry burst flame with white pearliod pickguard and nickle hardware(as in pickup covers too), but I think the other look is still versatile and would lend itself well to bluesy rock or glam without being too much. I haven't seen what the black engraved snakeskin pickguard looks like, thought of getting that with white finish, Whitesnake.

I've played ESP guitars before but I like the Jackson USA Dave Mustaine signature king V guitar as the best neck feel with it's compound radius.

My Kramer SM-1H has a great neck and extremely shred friendly. Plus Charvel is killing it now and lots of people are saying so as well from what I've read and heard...

He explains it in the video. The "USA" at the time meant that it didn't have the traditional Les Paul control layout.

Nothing like the 2021 Epiphone Custom Koa Les Paul.. ESP couldn't touch it..

Think it was $1200-ish when I got it, and a couple of years ago you could them for like $600 used,. Not sure where they're at now but it's definitely more than that (like everything lol)

ESP Standard is the brand. Eclipse II USA is the model, it was made to be different enough so they wouldn’t get sued by Gibson in the States

I wouldn’t want a Floyd on it. The whole reason I like this style guitar is wrap around bridges because they’re comfortable for palm muting

Correct, they put USA in the model name because it was specifically made for distribution in the States. They changed it enough from the one sold everywhere else to avoid getting sued by Gibson, later it became the standard Eclipse.

Correct. The brand is ESP Standard which are made in Japan, the model is "Eclipse II USA" because it was originally and specifically designed to be different enough from a Les Paul that Gibson would allow it to be distributed in the American market.

I wonder what american guitar company would wanna sue, bc they were unhappy with the thickness of a guitar body🤔
