He’s an M4 rifle of SF6. He’s simple compared to others like Chun and JP. But he’s extremely reliable and gets the job done well.

I'm super new, and I'm think of swapping from DeeJay over to Guile, at least for now. DeeJay has so many answers for everything that the mental stack, for someone still getting used to just playing the game, is huge. I'm naturally inclined to sitting back and figuring people out and Guile seems perfect for that.

Guile obviously isn't the flashiest character but damn, I feel like my IQ goes up a point every time I watch a good Guile player. There's so much going on beneath the surface that it's tricky not to miss little pieces of tech

This is a Guile who really knows the MU well. In this MU, Guile excels at the mid range where his normals and fireball bully JP’s stubby cane. JP has to try to keep Guile full screen to zone him, and Guile wants to fight to stay mid screen where he can press buttons on top of his fireball. I really love this MU.

@@Kraneos-_- I don’t think so. JP has very little way to contest Guile at that mid range. At full screen, JP needs a portal to be truly scary, but Guile isn’t reliant on EX so he can afford to block it out and lose some Drive.

@@mickeybat5816 you could honestly call it semi cannon since guile is one of the top active soldiers in street fighter and soldiers are known for having really strong legs do to that awkward crouch walking position you often see soldiers in so you could even say guiles constant crouching makes sense.

I wish I could play guile but I really crumble when it comes to charge characters. I already suck with remembering combos and doing them after hit confirms, so why would I be able to do that with charge moves?

Well short tip for comboing with charge characters. You can hold back for the entire combo until you need to use a charge attack.

So like, I know you complained in the game about him jumping alot, but tbh it seemed like the right move against JP? Unless you're ready with that anti-air he was just dodging your stuff and winning with it. A lot of JP's I've played overuse Stribog and I punish it with a jump-in heavy pretty frequently since it doesnt have a high hitbox.

I use Chun Li and when people jump it makes sense to me. It's really unwise to let me follow behind slow Kikosho especially when I can Drive Rush into standing MP which is like +4 or 5 on block.

This feels like another match where brine could improve by working in the command throw more. Am i mistaken?

I never seen a good guile player let someone jump in on him this often.

How else do you deal with jp's bs without jumping? Parries? I thought that guile read you pretty well, that's why those multiple jump ins were working

I don't get the hate for JP, and I main Jamie lol. Things like parry and DR kinda stop his zoning. I mean I'm not a master or diamon, just gold 4 so maybe I'm just naieve but still

When you first queue into ranked you will be given a choice to classify yourself as a beginner, intermediate player, and other options of increasing skill. Place yourself wherever you deem appropriate and it should put you in a spot you're comfortable in, and if you're better or worse than your estimation the 10 ranked placement matches should place you accordingly

​@@raw-b6658His crazy boom loops actually got removed once the full game came out due to them changing the properties of his bazooka knee. He still has a very simple loop that he can get but it's not even close to what he was capable of in the beta.

Why wouldn't you jump against JP? Unless they're actually anti-airing, 99% of people that play that whack character just want to spam as much stuff on screen as possible, all of which are punished/gotten around by jump-ins. Against people that know ranges better, you're forced to play more of a ground game and be miserable, but the overwhelming majority don't have the two brian cells to reach that conclusion. Keep in mind I'm not hating on zoning, I play mid-long range charge characters or grapplers, I get hate from everybody be it those trying to get to me or those trying to get away. But SF zoners don't traditionally have the tools this character does. That's why there's a MUCH higher number of JP's at master than any other character. Unfamiliarity with both the character in general, and in the options never seen before (a parry that parries hits AND throws that then attaches bombs that can juggle, for example). I'm also a Lily player, and this matchup is beyond annoying. Not impossible, but the nature of Lily is that after a mixup into throw she resets positioning on screen to allow for space to generate wind charges relatively safely... but it also screws you up by losing all the ground it took ages to gain in this matchup. If you have charges and meter, you can just EX/OD buffed Spire in after the throw for a semi-throw loop/plus frame setup, but that only last so long. Most of my large chance windows against JP's come from the same kind of unfamiliarity with Lily that people have with JP (minus weird tradition breaking mechanics of course, she's basically just a mini Thawk that requires charging up, but I've loved playing thawk since ST, and she's a lot of fun).

I hope Capcom put Balrog in the game ASAP, just so Brine doesn't have to struggle with that JP playstyle 🤣

Doubt B Rog is going be in the game, as Marisa got the "punch the living shit out of the opponent until they are dead" playstyle on lock.

I hate Guile, I doubt Ill ever reach a level to play a Guile of this caliber but I hate all Guiles.

I depise Guile I just hate his sonic boom and flash kick and turtling. It’s not fun, it’s just irritating. I’m glad people can have fun but character beats my ass in more than any other character. Can’t even get in with a grab.
