Congratulations to Ben! Winning a coveted position in TPO USMC Band is a major-league accomplishment! Releasing ourselves of all responsibility for generating or tolerating opinions on ourselves is the first step in growing. Once we accept only facts of whether our skill is sufficient or not, (vs. opinions where we judge ourselves as superior or inferior in that skill), we’re no longer dealing with nebulous goals which produce uncertainty of success. Working with only facts, (never opinions), reduces/removes the “me/ego/fear/shame”, focusing us on only pursuing TRUTH! Focusing solely on TRUTH demands we only make investments of thought, time, practicing, and performance that align with “the art of the possible”. Past is history. Present is prologue. Future is possibility.

Cracked up at "Instead of going out and partying the night before his audition" Great info from Ben. Just hung out with Russell Sharp (trombone) in Alabama, and he reiterated how great the culture is at the Marine Band and how hard everyone works to get there. Congratulations!
