    WOW! couldn’t choose what video to comment on but just had to say: i’ve always been terrible with the driver. i’ve watched several videos on different channels, tried several different things and nothing worked. on a GOOD day my drive was 60 yards. i always attributed it to my height and lack of muscle but something was nagging in the back of my head that i wasn’t doing something right. i started watching your videos Monday and practiced my swings/ your tips in the backyard until i could get to the driving range. just got back from my first trip to the driving range since… HOLY COW!!! my drive went from 60 yd with no idea what direction it would go to 150 YARDS STRAIGHT!!!! thank you thank you thank you!! immediately subscribed and turned those notifications on! your way of teaching is so clear and easy to understand! my husband asked me how i changed so fast and i sent him straight to your channel

    Shawn, I’ve been a golf nut for some 60 years, at one time a 4 handicap. That was despite never achieving the knowledge you have presented and laboring under a contrived swing. Always tinkering and searching info as to how to build a proper grip, set up, weight transfer etc , etc, etc, offered by the popular golf gurus down through those 60 years, so I could achieve the distance, consistency and game of my perceived potential. The ‘Aha’ moment occurred for me in your presentation of square face at set up vs square face at impact session. Previously we have been misled all these years believing that a neutral grip and square club face at set up is required to deliver the ball to the target with a proper golf swing. Thank you for destroying that moth, and the focus on the dynamic impact position

    @shawn clement How does a bigger guy approach this? I feel one of my arms are still always going to crash into my stomach/ribs. I can get more free arm movement but then I feel my spine tilt is way too far and I would be rotating and swing the club much wider from my body almost coming across.

  • @golflessons

    @golflessons

    2 жыл бұрын

    The key is to get the club to peak in speed well past the ball; if you need to release earlier, you will need to open the face of swing with a more neutral grip; I lost 40 pounds in 10 weeks and never looked back by reading and applying the wIsdoms of Dr Permutter in his nook Grain Brain and have been intermittent fasting for the last 2 years to allow my body to take out the garbage every day. Still 195 pounds and still going strong.

    I'm now into the forth month of recovery from total right knee replacement, I'm hitting woods, hybrid and long irons very well! I'm not thinking of any swing thought with these clubs. Short irons(9 iron, wedges), if I take the same approach as my longer clubs, I'm striking the ball well and straight but I'm pulling everything left. What's the cure? ps Happy Birthday, mine's September 13th.

    I love this feel. For me I feel the trail arm doesn’t get past 90 in the backswing. Forces me to rotate w the shoulders and get that coil. Do you have any vids discussing this on YT or premium? That “keep the right arm straight as long as possible” feel really keeps my arms in front of me and that right elbow free to fire towards my task! The ball explodes.

    On breathing: do you inhale, exhale, or hold your breath during the backswing? And, what about proper breathing on the downswing?

  • @golflessons

    @golflessons

    2 жыл бұрын

    The human breath is 5 seconds to complete; and like most sprinters, there is no breathing during the action and to think of breathing would detract you from your task of delivering the club to the target. It is like asking if you breathe in or out while chopping a tree down with an axe or batting in baseball.

    I am left handed. When I pick my intermediate point and swing to the left I notice that I have to pull in closer to the body and sometimes I will release to the left of the intermediate point in which case I get a draw and sometimes just straight with no draw if I dont stay committed to the left of the intermediate point. Any suggestion on how to get consistent on going left of it. Its easier with irons but most difficult with driver.

    @@golflessonsYeah, one of the great things about this game is that there are many people with different swings. Eamon Darcy (remember him) was sorely criticized for his flying elbow but he got the job done. I love those who do it differently like Bryson DeChambeau and Matthew Wolff but for the most part, it's conventional wisdom, when understood, that helps amateur golfers.
