    I have never seen the fretboard visualized like that before. Interesting concept, I know major and minor modes really well though.

    Even xyz shape lesson with no tmusical heory approach is way better than tjis way lees comfusimg and instant understanimg. Example mixolydian scale start on ST6 fr3 Play 3 dots 357 654 strings The note 5strimg 5th fret is the middle dorean How bloody simple is that for anybody looking at the guitar can play all degrees of major scale just using the dots as a skeleton which then can be used to explain complex chords 11 13 etc

    I watched it and still have no idea what he is talking about. How does the first symmetrical pattern maps to the scale pattern shown on the fretboard?

  • @Wallimann

    @Wallimann

    The symmetrical pattern is a visual representation of all possible intervals.

    @@Wallimann But what specific intervals are these? I can tell which intervals are in the fretboard pattern later: it's a scale, it shows the root, it's movable, and so on. There are what though? What does "all possible intervals means"? All possible intervals in a scale? In all scales? Would it be the same if created a pattern with 6 x 24 dots -- all possible intervals in the guitar, all notes on the fretboard!

    @@Wallimann ok, I got it: it's not supossed to be a shape or be applied on the fretboard (where the intervals are different between strings) - that was what confused me. It's supposed to just be a diagram of various intervals and whether they can have major, minor, augment, etc flavors. It's drawn looking somewhat like a scale shape or something mapping to the fretboard directly, but it just as well could have been a table with rows and columns.

    Hi hope you are well. I get the visualisation diagram but is it really necessary? why reinvent the wheel? Intervals between notes are easy to understand on any musical instrument. How notes sound when played together and emotions invoked depends on the player or listener doesn't it? There are no rules or restrictions this is the magic and mystery. Just play anything.

    It helps later on when matching g complex chords to modes and also there is a bunch you can do with it when dealing with modulation. I find it very useful!

    A Minor 2nd has no tones between the root and the Min 2nd - they are adjacent. It's not usually a pleasant sound on its own, but it exists and can be used if desired. A Major 2nd is a whole tone above the root, and is a more popular choice.

    I would intuitively say that I liked this video, so I looked for the Perfect Like button. On the left it is one fret above (to the left) of the dislike video, which would be an Imperfect Like, or Diss like.
