This Gear Quirk Could be COSTING YOU COHO!!!
I finally upgraded my downrigger and the cable was audibly vibrating. Despite a very lively looking day on the sound, all I could manage was a 2 pounder and a shaker. I suspect the fish didn't like the sound. I'm upgrading to braided downrigger line ASAP!
Please comment below if you have good luck with vibrating cables. I've heard they can bring in fish, but that was NOT my experience this day.
Edited: a big thank you to @rayz671 for commenting about the safety hazard associated with kayaking with a steel downrigger cable. That completely slipped my mind.

For kayak, you should replace with braid. You'll have a hard time cutting that cable if you needed to in an emergency

Good point. Thanks for commenting. I wasn’t even considering snagging because I was going for coho. But I can say steel downrigger cable won’t be on my kayak ever again.

@narwhaladventures if u snag it, or happen to flip and it gets wrapped around a leg or arm 😵
Braid will fix that issue.
Marked a lot of fish today at shilshole but not many biters
