37:03 actually he has been permanently banned as a person, he is not allowed to make a new account they will ban those too, initially he got a message he could make a new account but he received clarification later that this was not the case and any accounts he would make would be banned.

Watched this guy a few years back. He seemed a normal dude, making some guides and stuff. Over time, he went weird, selling spreadsheets, etc. It just got to him. Now GGG offered him the vacation he needed.

He did say on someone else's stream, that GGG sent him an email later , and told him if he made a new account it would be banned too, its ID ban now, idk the details but for the people interested its on "CuteDog" 's stream

What he said may have been shitty. But cross platform banning should not exist. The ramifications of such things becoming normal are vastly more important than people realize.

To be fair poe(post acts) without tabs is borderline unplayable. You need at least Premium tab upgrade to sell items to other players. And tabs like maps, currency, divcards, essences pretty much mandatory. Without them you will need 0-100 normal tabs FOR EARCH to fit the same amount of items

I think, and I might be mistaken, if it was directed aimlessly, it would have passed as a temper tantrum and the platform to take action here would have been maybe twitch for vulgarity and using the R word. But since it was directed at a specific person, that was a personal verbal attack. He's not a child, he's a grown ass man who insulted a person specifically. Childish as it may be, if it were my game and if one of my staff members, let alone myself, was specifically verbally attacked publicly I would insta ban this person from my establishment (may it be game, restaurant, office, it doesn't matter). He made a decision to verbally attack, applied action and verbally attacked, and actions have consequences and he got himself a perma ban. Seems justified to me. I could be wrong and speaking from bias though.

He basically got banned from streaming the game, meaning they just wanted him off of the PoE section on Twitch and not representing the community.

Yeah, it makes no sense to me. I dont think anyone should get banned from a service for tweeting that the SW team that support the service are incompetent, or that one of them is bald and stupid.

I only ever experienced Path of Matth's content on KZread, and he presents himself very well on the build guides and the economy analysis, etc. It's too bad. I will miss his YT content.

I remember old Bungie used to have employees that banned you permanently for messaging their xbox live account or t-bagging their character.

Path of Math has always been a positive figure in the Poe community, sure his phrasing isn't the best but he means well. He just gets shit handed to him by so many other people who are haters and to top it off the league being in the state that it was during release (still is) Kinda makes sense with the meltdown. He did deserve a ban but not an id ban.

"Sperg" is definitely short for "asperger's". It's just said by a lot these days, some people say it as a replacement instead of calling people retards or gay, since those insults are commonly frowned upon and sperg is less known. Sometimes I question myself if I even have the syndrom, even though I've been diagnosed with it, and this confussion is partially because when it's being used as an insult I'd rather just not think that I have it, and often not say that I have it, to avoid giving ammunition to toxic people, and to not feel that I'm some person who deserves to be insulted.

Don't worry about the toxic people using a diagnosis as a slur. Just by your comment here, I can tell that you're not what these people mean, when they use "sperg". They would just a likely use race, gender, or sexuality as a slur. It has more to do with their own insecurities and feelings of inadequacy, than anything else.

I don't agree. If he was tweeting at Chris, or emailing him, or actually interacting with him in some way and saying that shit to him, then fine, that's harassment. But he's not, he's on his own stream saying this. That's not harassment. Should he have said that? No, 100% not, and it was wrong of him to say that. But none of this sounds like harassment.

just say he's useless at his job. They are incompetent because they don't test stuff properly if at all. Call them out because of their actions but don't mention their appearence. You can call them the worst devs on the planet and they can't do anything to you.

We haven't had this kind of drama since 2019 from classic, good times 😁

The only time you can lash out at in such an egregious manner is if they've full on fallout 76'd your ass by doxxing you giving out your credit card/bank information publicly and deleting or banning you for having good gear. The American attitude of "the customer is always right" I think has helped encourage a very narcissistic view of the world, leading to behaviour that is completely unacceptable

Same thing happened in Smite. There was a guy called DMBrandon who was a super toxic streamer and got perma banned.

Hes making insane comments about a bald guy, while streaming the game is shitting on - would never take this guy seriously - No thinking behind his comments, ofc devs want to make the game fun for there playerbase.. atleast a bunch of people working for gaming companis got the job because they have a passion to make something fun for others.

Ive actually never watched an Asmon video before (never really been my thing), but i have to admit he’s enjoyable to listen to. Dude is very well articulated and seems highly intelligent. It’s also fun watching his eyebrows when he talk. Added bonus.

Many shops have been banning people from entering their shops, yet they’re still standing and flourishing. Get real, you’re overestimating the significance of such minority, and the trade-off to serve such “Karen” definitely isn’t worth the money. Just to push this further, being associated with rude customers can even tarnish your own brand and deter other customers depending on what services they sell. Hell imagine hiring EDP445 for $1/hr (hey, best business employee am I right? Virtue signalling aside) will get you cancelled for having a pedo in your business. I doubt his boss is a clown if his business is still standing firm and still has multiple clients (“one of our clients”). Maybe your formula just ain’t 100% effective.

I've only watched one video from path of math it was just before 3.17 when the new atlas passives tree came out, before league he was "analysing" every single notable node on this tree. If I remember correctly he used some math that came from nowhere and he did not even considered different strategies or obvious combinations his analysis sounded like "this is only correct way to play this game and everything I said is absolute truth" after this one video I never watched him again

He was IP banned. GGG emailed him an hour after the acct ban and said if he creates another account it will be banned too.

It is not because you are a customer that you are entitled to everything, good call

You can’t do a generic apology when your attack is personal. I can’t say something attacking Asmon then apologize using generics like saying I apologize and what I said was wrong, it makes the apology lack the tone needed for a genuine apology.

"Schrödinger's joke". It's suddenly "just a joke", when people get mad at you. It's a cop-out that weak people have been using for a long time. I'm glad that it's being called out now for what it really is.

I'll freely admit I have anger issues myself, but there's a difference between venting and indulging when it comes to dealing with it. This guy was enjoying his tantrum too much and feeding his anger rather than simply letting it out.

I thank heaven every day that I grew up in a time period when widespread streaming/vlogging wasn't really a thing. I shudder to think of the shit I would have said when I was in my teens and early 20's. It's rough for you youngsters coming up today. This was mild compared to the kind of garbage we used to say to each other and even to our teachers/parents/etc.

@@smenkinsa I am? ... I wish! I'm 41. Old enough to remember a time before the "internet" (as we know it), but young up to have grown up with the early mass adoption of the internet. When I was a teen, and into my early 20's, the internet as we know it now wasn't really what it is today. YT was just emerging as something beyond funny cat videos and "vlogging" was a new thing. Streaming wasn't really a thing in the late 90's or even early 2000's. Tom Green was one of the first major people I can think of who actually tapped into the potential of livestreaming with his webovision (doing a show live from his living room, including often laggy and hilarious Skype video calls from viewers). It was a totally different time and a totally different net. People who grew up always online, with phones and tablets from the time they were kids can't grasp how unfiltered people were around your friends. Most streamers now, even those that speak pretty freely, are still really tame and careful compared to the shit a teen or young adult from the 90's would possibly say.

@@smenkinsa oh my bad if you meant the dude that got banned, or even asmongold, I understand... but 30 is a lot different then 40. 40 was born in the early 80's, literally a teeanger when widespread dialup (normally AOL) was a thing. People who are 30 grew up with all of that already done and established and were seeing the birth and growth of things like YT, twitter, reddit, etc.

I was watching this guy back in 2020-2021. I never thought he physically can say things like bald fuck lol. Watching his videos, i was getting an expression of a calmest dude in the community. Also his gen cry build guide is absolute best.

i got in trouble for calling someone on the forum an idiot because he said he gets enjoyment of of exalt drops and now he doesn't get that anymore, so i called him an idiot and to just get the same feeling when a divine drops

What disappoints me the most about this nerfing patch is that all my buddies instantly quit the game. PoE was the last frontier where we got together and played ALOT for 1-2 months together each season.

As far as I know, all GGG initially said that he can play if he create a new account but later, GGG send a new message stating that they will ban any new account that he might create as long as they could know for sure that belongs to him, in other words PoM as a person is permabanned from POE. if it is true or not, I dont know.

Chris wasn't always bald. I remember him cutting hair at barber next door for reaching a charity goal.

Did he actually target that harassment in game? If not, then I think PoE overstepped and I think this cross platform banning is something everyone should be concerned about. Wouldn't surprise me if he was an a-hole in game too, however I still think it's up to platforms to take action eg Twitch suspension/ban. The whole "freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences" BS is just promoting an authoritarian society built on a social credit score. Dude clearly needs to chill, but it's none of PoE's business what someone says about them elsewhere. I find it hard to believe that there are many people who haven't vented, it's just most people thankfully don't do it in front of the whole world. Maybe I missed something, but really think about what you're really doing if anyone reading this supports the ban. Society is increasingly recording your actions. Do you really want to be punished because somewhere you offloaded too much? The implications go way too far for my liking. Eventually it will be possible to get rid of people who have anything remotely negative to say about your business which would give an unrealistic representation of your product or services.

My message is that they should be held accountable localised to where they infringed. Holding companies accountable is dependant on not facing consequences to calling them out. I don't think it's unfair to expect that if you don't break rules inside the game, you shouldn't be banned in said game. If we legitimise this action, then you might as well legitimise it elsewhere too, and that's what concerns me. For example if I criticise Amazon, Google, or Microsoft, they have quite a strong ability to really hamper my lifestyle given how much they have control over.

Asmon has talked shit about wow Devs for years. Kinda made me mad listening to this. He did have some good points tho I feel like a temporary ban may have been sufficient for this.

This is very common in many companies. People always talk shit to the most responsible person on the company. Everyone blames eveyrthing on bobby kotick from activision. Everyone blames everythin on chris wilson from ggg. Eveyone blames everythin on Steven from Ashes of creation. Even more than that. When people watch soccer or basketball or esports and their favorite player doesnt perform they also usually talk shit on them.

Chris Wilson is not lead developer since like idk 2014 hes the managing director he even spoke at length many many times about the stuff he personally worked on like "Hard Mode" and Talisman which people meme on him for. People are using him as an outlet to vent frustrations on which isnt fair especially considering his scope of involvement with lets say things like balance which last I checked that was GGG Qarl. Some of the changes do seem tone death but unless its constructive criticism I dont see any of the rage being helpful in improving the game or fixing the issues it has. Some people are just heavy monetizing rage bait.
