This Game Changer for the Switch Just Got Even Better! - Unitek Multi Game Card Switcher Review

Ойындар

The Game Card switcher I got for the Nintendo Switch last year quickly became one of my favorite accessories for the console and has been used regularly in my game room since reviewing it. With existing devices having a few shortcomings or requests that people asked for, Unitek released an upgraded version with 8 active Game Card ports and a remote to do the switching for you. Let's review it and see how well it works!

I think another good use case for this is MIG Switch owners with way too many games in their collection as this can save their gamecard slot from all of the clicking in and out

It could be helpful for docked users in that case, although not a great portable solution for handheld users.

Spotted it on Aliexpress, was tempted as I have my Switch out for people to play a fair bit (Would have a cover on the back so no one takes the cards out), but I am kinda worried that it might fry things if someone gett a bit to eager with the change game button or bork the cart slot

Is this supposed to be like an upgrade to those game sleeves we used to always carry since the DS days as we had the real cases stored away? That must be a next gen level of lazy if you can’t select which you’d like based on a given library and have to resort to tabbing through around the absolute best favorites

I can see the use cases for this, but it's not for me, just waiting for whatever console is following the Switch so I can chip my original, and backup my carts.

  • @MrMario2011

For sure, it isn't for everyone. Although for chipping a console, nothing stopping you from doing it now! Worst case you can pick up another tablet only console for pretty cheap these days.

@@MrMario2011 true, and if I get really impatient I might go that route, it really depends on how long Nintendo is gonna sit on that announcement.

see this is something that had great potential but missed the mark. you can have 8 games stored in it, but you still have a contraption tied to the switch, and you still need to get up and press the button to swap games. what if you wanna play game 8 after playing game 1.. you gotta press the button 7 more times to get there.. when you can just swap out the game to the switch in less the time it takes to swap from this device. when someone makes a device that can hold 8 games (being reasonable) and you can play them all while they are plugged into said device; that may be worth looking into imo. the MIG cart almost does it perfectly, but you still need to press multiple times to get to said game.

Both of the main points you made are incorrect. This model has a remote so you don't need to get up and physically press a button on the device itself anymore. The MIG Switch is also definitely not close to perfect because you're not pressing a button, you have to keep ejecting and reinserting the cartridge to get to your specific game. Both devices serve different purposes, but between pressing a button or reinserting a cartridge? One device will be much less annoying and infinitely better for your hardware.

Is not useless. It is useful if you are so lazy not to change the gamecard 😂. Personally, I'm not that lazy, so I'm OK swapping the games. I'm don't do that often because I try to finish the game first before starting a new one.

@mrchaotiq depends on the games. Most digital games need to be connected to the server to confirm you actually own them(ik is stupid). Also digital games are bound to the console you have downloaded them.
