@@badbadfull not even close. his “all in” that he mentioned was about 300k when bitcoin was at 6k average. Bitcoin is now at 60k giving him just over a 3 million net worth. No where near a billion, but still a lot for the average person

It's still an irresponsible move to put all your eggs in one basket. They made a stupid bet and got lucky. There are tons of stories who made a similar investment and lost everything. *>Dividends are a great thing, but they’re only really effective for passive income when you either have somewheres over 20 to 25 thousand shares of a high yielding stock. Meaning you likely need to have a few hundred thousand if not more invested in it. Re-investing dividends back into the same stock certainly does snowball with compound interest, but you only really start seeing it after 16 years of never stopping and likely needing to add additional money of your own with it….so it’ll be time consuming and costly. The way I see it if you have a million dollars at some point, that’d be enough to create a portfolio that would pay you between 95 to 120 thousand in dividend income

Like Warren Buffet said, dividends are only good if the business you’re investing into can’t make good use of that capital. So if you’re trying to invest into businesses with actual growth, looking at dividends is a waste of time. Why are you investing into a company if they’re returning capital to you because they think you can make better use if it than they can. There’s only one reason, and it is a place to park your capital to pay you a small return with large established businesses because you aren’t trying to grow your portfolio anymore, but to live off of it. It’s not much different from bond investing.

If so, you should hire a CFP to help you diversify your assets to include ETFs/index funds/mutual funds and stocks of companies with consistent cash flows, rather than betting on penny stocks.

Andrew Debasque now I believe they do but they were actually waiting for 2020 to cash in at 20k , so they were willing to live basically homeless for 2 to 3 YEARS (also risk losing it all...) If they want to cash in they can do it NOW (making 3 to 4 times what they invested) or they can keep gambling. However the 1 THING that is more valuable is how CLOSE and HAPPY their family has become in this journey. He has an awesome and faithful Wife, kids and a brave cat 🐱. My wife would never trust or believe in me enough to dare do anything remotely like this... 😓

+ Manny, I don't think it was that drastic. Living homeless is a great liberating experience. They were basically traveling the world and enjoying the moments instead of the standard soul dreading 9-5 routine. I'm sure they cashed out coins along the way to pay for things, travel, living etc.. and as Bitcoin grew into a frothy gem.

So he bought at $5000 and it went to over $19000 months later. He expected it to go four times as much or $20000 by 2020. The real question is, if he still owns the Bitcoin or did he sell it close to $19000. It is currently at $6300 so he's still ahead if he didn't sell.

Yes, my asset manager advised I spread further into mutual funds and crypto Etf and boy am I glad I did. The whole idea is: Don’t get too greedy and also to exit at the right time, so generally I do find having an adviser very helpful, because what Avg. Joe really has time to watch and comprehensively analyze the market?

I remember when a bitcoin was $400 a piece. I was like "Oh no, that's too much Bob." Now I'm sitting here like dumbo. It's OK though.

selling all their assets must have taken them a long time meaning that they didnt buy bitcoin at its peak or when this video came out like we think they did. they must have bought in at around 2000 or even less meaning that they still tripled their money, or even if they sold bitcoin at 18k they would've made 9x their money. i hope they made a wise decision and sold but still you never know.

bitcoin (or another kind of cryptocurrency will become a global currency) because why wouldn't it? It doesn't have foreign transaction fees, everyone can send each other money no questions asked, no fees involved. You will never have to pay the bank. It's futuristic and it makes our lives easier, and take a look at history, anything that has those two qualities will be preserved. And if bitcoin becomes a global currency, and is recognized globally. With it's limit of 21 million bitcoins in 2040, that means the value would only go up from there. Look at what the value of it is now, it's 15,000 usd per bitcoin, and the cap is 240 billion dollars, that is a lot of money, but as a global currency, that is nothing. Bank of america is worth more than that, and BOA is only one of the american banks. So I bet that bitcoin will go up until it reaches 500, 000 usd per bitcoin, unless more bitcoins are created (which is really unlikely) at that time, one satoshi would be worth 0.5 usd, still not good enough for everyday transactions because we need a smaller unit than that, but I'm sure it will get figured out by then

I bought $500 worth of BitCoin not too long after they came out. All it took for me was a greedy banker analyst to say not to invest in them for me to realize it was a huge a threat to the dollar. Those coins are now worth $30,000. It will rise and fall over time but overall, it's been a great side investment.

Haha, my 13 year old daughter just showed me this, she said "this family lost everything on bitcoin!!!", i had to explain to her: "no darling, they've actually now become rather rich!" .... i didn't watch the whole thing, but the graph they showed only went up to about 5k per coin, so presuming he got in at 5k or below, he's done very well. And when BT goes to 200k plus, then yeah, he'll be really smiling. I've got 280k in Ethereum, hoping that's gonna play out nicely as well!

They bought in under $5000 and sold just after peak around $19k on Dutch news. They made huge gain nearly x4 on alll their assets. Thet have recently bought back into BTC but this time just out of some profits. They were smart!
