But, there are several things I couldn't include such as deeper analysis of Somali as a story, a more detailed breakdown of her financial situation, and even a little bit about her latest series Isekai Kakuriyo.

Greatly disagree with this. Extremely over-the-top acting with enunciations at points that made no sense. Often times the way she said things felt inappropriate to what was being said. It's like she's just trying to copy how bad anime dubs sound rather than trying to convey what the original speaker is saying in English. When doing a voice over for someone, you're supposed to act as if you are them. That isn't what happened here at all.

It's such a disapoint thing to see a lot of people who working in creative jobs getting exploited, it's not a thing that you can just work harder and got more productivity, it's CREATIVE, and it needs time, ffs. I feel lucky that I was first working in IT and then pursuing my passion in creative zone, and to be honest, I just don't want my passion involved with jobs and deadlines, because when you do that, it's no longer a joy thing to do. Gureishi, I hope you have a better life ahead, I may heard about Somari but not sure if I had a look on them, and I will after watching this video. Thank you for bringing the news like this Yiman, the world needs reporters like you. To all workers in creative fields, my heart goes out to you. Jesus Christ the insanely breathy voice acting for Gureishi Yako sensei's words was struggle to listen to and the overly dramatic scenery that doesn't even fit at times was a detriment to an otherwise important topic that at least I hold close to my heart. That being said, thank you for shedding light on it as not everyone knows what happens behind the scenes. I loved every panel of this manga and it's insane how this mistreatment of mangakas is still ongoing, it boggles the mind every time I hear it. I hope I live to see the time where mangakas get the treatment and respect they deserve.

Thanks for this video! I loved the anime - so original and “sui generis”! I know working conditions in Japan for those in the anime and manga industry generally suck, but it’s surprising that it would be so bad for an artist whose work was deemed good and popular enough to merit an anime! I’m gonna share this round to my numerous old-taku friends as much as possible, and try to contribute!

People always say make your "hobby a job", or "if your good at it and enjoy you can make money from it". Well you see it's a hobby, I don't want to do something I enjoy so often like a job till the point I hate it. I don't want to stop loving the thing I love. Also one of the biggest advice my lecture gave me, know your worth, a lot the time we believe that because of our age, or our situation, we have no worth, but the truth is as long as we are alive we have something to give, weather we realize it or not.

As a fellow artist (though nowhere near as talented or as good a storyteller, obvs) with mental illness and IBS my heart goes out to her. While the traditional attitudes of Japan make this even harder to break out of, the exploitation of artists as well as ableism is a widespread problem across many cultures, and I hope the manga community can help support her and we can work together to make a world where we can all live and create and care for ourselves freely.

Somali and The Forest Guardian was a manga I first bought back in 2018 I think(first 2 volumes back then, now I have them all), and I still believe it's one of the most beatiful mangas I've ever seen, genuienly. Is the plot complicated? No, but the setting is great, world is getting explained throughout progressing the story(show not tell kind of narrative) and the art is insanely detailed. I relate a lot to the creators situation honestly, I only knew about her health problems before this video and it's really sad to think that it didn't even surprise me that her editors were partially responsible for driving her to this state. When both physical and mental health drastically decline and you stop getting any inspiration whatsoever from what you're doing there's no words that could ever describe the struggle of still trying through all of it - it's a shame that such a great manga is not being continued, but I hope everybody can emphatize even a little(not saying to understand it fully, just trying to a little bit) with the decision to stop working on it(excluding all the copyright mumbo jumbo she'd probably have to go through with the editors, although I'm not sure how that works) and it's heart warming to see her getting the happy ending to such a cruel story that she deserves. A very talented person indeed, hope nothing but the best for her and her future work
