The left side is going to be an issue as long as we don't have a full back who can get forward that side. Everyone wants Foden 10, but he started there less than LW last season. The issue is not taking a fit LB, which can't be fixed now

Saka is a great right sided winger in terms of dribbling ability, etc, but he doesn't particularly stretch full backs when it comes to pace. Portugal have Leao on the left who is very quick and Silva on the right who is more of an intelligent footballer. It would be similar to if we had Foden playing on the right.

Personally, I'd have 1 defensive midfielder in Rice, with Bellingham as an 8, Foden as a 10, Eze or Gordon on the left. As a number 8, half of what Bellingham's role involves is to defend from a midfield position.

I watched the first game and that was enough for me. I never bothered even looking for the result of the Denmark game because Mouthgate's boring output is the same time after time and I could see what was coming. I've said for years now that England will win absolutely nothing while he's in charge. They certainly won't win this time around in Germany. He bottles it at every opportunity. Why can't these so-called football experts tell it how it is? Appalling!!

Kobbie will be available for the ball, will retain it, so we aren't constantly on the back foot and defending and will get it into players feet higher up the pitch. Trent prefers to get it in behind

Get off Safegates back! Without that world famous super star, multi ballon d'or nominated decorated vetern, that is Kalvin Phillps in the team, we were always doomed... UEFA, would of been so impressed with his performance, they would of called off the to tournament, awarding it to Phillps

Kane needs to stop trying to carry the team and stay up front, he is literally everywhere, no wonder he looks knackered, and he was at fault for Denmark's goal. Either tell him to stay up front or drop him.

Saka at left back is a crazy idea ... Trippier has done okay, despite playing out of position, Saka on the right wing is his best position, we already have three players playing out of position in Trippier, Foden and Alexander-Arnold .... why would we want to make it even worse !!!

To be perfectly honest this is the main reason I don't follow England, because from the days of Ron Greenwood not putting Glenn Hoddle in his correct position or building the team around him in the 80s, the same situation is still continuing today with Foden. So many talented players never got a games or enough caps because managers didn't have the bottle to play to their strengths. As a city fan play Foden correctly, also set the team up to play effectively regardless of the competition.

I swear i think a lot of fans are stupid. English fans being up there. Guy wants their best winger in defense. 27 goal contributions in 24 games. Yeah play him at left back now who's your dangerous right winger? Might as well play Bellingham at striker cuz he scores a lot of goals for Madrid, bench Kane and don't start Watkins. All players Southgate took are stars. Now play all at their natural positions. Can't play 3 right backs in 1 game. Both games been doing same things expecting different results. Trying for decades to fit players in the team. Change and put players in who are it for the position.

Bellingham played 8 against the USA, and they ran past him. Rice at 8 and one of Wharton or Mainoo is a gamble at 6.

The problem was not the formation.. the problem was the instruction or maybe the attitude towards the game

Play mainoo. Proves week in week out he does alright in a dysfunctional midfield, with a lackluster front line and a shakey back four at United 👌

We don't have a problem getting ahead in games.. its the fact we change how we play when we go ahead. The line up doesn't matter but its southgates tactics making the players look bad.

Nothing wrong with having two low lying midfielders who can defend and go forward, with a 10 in front.. France won the world Cup in 98 with that system.

I boycotted watching England, after all that knee nonsense, which gave a massive dislike of the Manager, and players. Ive only just started watching them again, and they are still a shambles.

Kane dropping deep doesn’t work in a 4231. He ends up on top of the 10. If he’s gonna play with Kane dropping deep then he needs to play 433 and have speedy wingers running off of Kane.

If he doesn't play Rice Bellingham together, drop Trent, put Foden in 10 position and have a natural left winger, then I think most of the media and fans will be fuming.

As long as we don’t start 3 right backs it will be better than the last 2 games. Trent is not a midfielder I feel for him should never of been played there. Foden is suffering because of the same reason Rashford did all season no left footer at left back. The overlap from a left footer creates that yard of space for a Foden when they come inside.

Southgates problem is he won't change formation to experiment. He's got 2 formations really. The one where he plays a back 3. And one where he's playing what looks like a 4-2-3-1. I'm actually suprised with all the CB's he took to the tournament he hasn't played a 3 at the back. Put walker at RCB if need be. Stones and Guéhi. Something like this. 3-4-2-1 (similar to Switzerland setup) GK - Pickford RCB - Walker CB - Stones CB - Guéhi CM - Bellingham CM - Rice RM - Saka LM - Gordon CAM - Palmer CAM - Foden ST - Kane Gets all your players in then. No weakness down the left, way more attacking and 2 work horses in front of mid with 2 wingers who will go back and fourth all day.

England are so apprehensive they go ahead and then they drop off deliberately. Mind blowing.
