Thanks for bringing this problem to our eyes. Our team also have noticed this problem and paid high attention on it. After we get this feedback, we have rechecked all of our stocked knives one by one. We will only ship out the good ones out. And for the knives which we have shipped already, once this problem happened, Bestech Knives would replace it for our customers. Again, we will be always open to any feedback from the market! Thank you!

Excellent response bestech. That’s a company standing behind their products 💯👍🏻

It's so nice to see a company that actually pays attention to the reviews, and has the guts to comment on even a negative experience!

That’s the kinda of response I like to see… and you did it where it counts on KZread 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

You guys could also make a second version that is a linerlock
Thank you for posting and showing this, rather than censoring and hiding it like a lot of KZread reviewers do. This is what gains you trust in the community. This is how to be a true product reviewer with a dedicated following! 👏
Wow!!! Best knife unboxing I may have ever seen... EVER! Great job!! Thanks for your integrity here as a knife reviewer!
I imagine guys at Bestech are running around in circles right now, panicked. And all the major knife stores are wondering why so many Goodboy orders are being cancelled...
The timing of that first break could not have been better if you planned it.
Thanks for the unedited review. It will be interesting to see how Bestech responds . . . . I feel a follow-up video in the works.
This is quite literally the perfect review video, thank you for being honest and not trying to hide it. Can't say that im surprised, considering its a budget knife, but great video nonetheless!
The plunge is jumping off of the tang. The tang is supposed to hold the plunge in. The button can slide through the hole that’s not the problem.
thanks for keepin it real. A bummer to see happen. Something that's being address. I've since stopped designing button locks altogether. I sense button locks in general have fallen out of favor. Would love your thoughts on your preferred lock mechanisms! Thanks for your honest review and feedback - Keanu
I'm curious to know what they say (and do) about this. Can you keep us updated? Thanks for maintaining your integrity!
Looks nice all the way around, when functional obviously. I especially appreciate the fine jimping 👍
Just got my Desert Warrior Goodboy today and can safely say they've fixed the problem. Love it! ❤️
Too much strength from the Monster energy drink 😂😂
The pocket clip is not only mountable for lefties, but it is also countersunk into the scale, and not only that, but the screws are flathead and also countersunk! In other words, this is the PERFECT CLIP!
Props to you for showing this. I know that integrity demands that you do - but MANY wouldn't. So thank you. Costing less doesn't make it a good buy.
I don’t mind small blades… but I do mind small handles. I would be absolutely fine if there was a 2.5” or 3” blade in a handle originally designed for a 3.5”+ blade.
One of the best videos you've ever made. Timing couldn't have been better.
Thank you for your high quality caffeine-fueled journalism MC
Nice looking Knife, thank you for the review. Too bad the plunge lock took a dump, Bestechman usually does a good job. Hopefully they address that issue going forward.
Had a titanium cormorant do similar. My last bestech was a liner lock and it would fail. It locked solid but would ease back off the tang slowly
"This feels like a pretty good buy right off the bat.. whoop..." 😂😂
Every knife company can have the occasional dud knife. Even the best companies. The best ones will fix or (preferably) replace it without any questions although they will at least require photos or a short video. I’ve seen Reate - for example - fix a couple of knives that were six years old. And the turn around was one week. I’ve seen Tactile, Kansept and WE Knife ship out new replacements. That’s the sort of after sales service you want.
Your good boy is actually a bad boy. Great video.
I have had and tested mine over the past 3 weeks. Zero issues and I love it. Unfortunate to see one with bad tolerances fail like tires. It’ll cause buyers to pass on what is a great model. Would love to see a follow up with you talking to them about this.
the vibrations from that grade A+ card slap broke da nif...... gotta watch arm days man your gettin to buff.
Thank you for the unedited video. I actually do not trust button locks, no matter what brand.
Speaking of weird things happening to knives named after dogs, the first Vosteed Corgi I bought also had an issue with the button lock. The button can unscrew from the plunger. A very unwelcome surprise.
Me watching this video sorta like watching Titanic… knowing the ship will sink anytime now 😅😂
I've had the same exact issue with this knife! After a few flicks I've had the same issue. The (cheap) spring went out of place and I've had to take apart the knife to put it in its right place again. Never had a single issue with Bestech before.
I'm going to have to add a second comment. I really hope you do a customer service quality control update video where you tell us how the customer service from this point going forward is and if they fix it sends you a new knife and how things go forward I'd appreciate that a lot
Whoops... 👀 Side note: When are companies going to give up on T6? Is using T8 hardware all around that much more expensive? I don't know anything about production costs, so maybe my ignorance is shining through, but that's a major gripe that I'd think would be easy to correct for.
@jakefromstatefarm1405

I feel the same, T8 should be the minimum
@Spthomas47
9 ай бұрын
Agreed. While I've no idea about whatever potential manufacturing "hardships" using all T8s would/could be, the only reason I can really think of is the designer thinking T8s would distract/detract from their design. I dunno. T8s for me as well.

MC used to say this constantly too. We all feel it. I’ve been thinking things would change, since 2018 when I first heard him and a few others start to make a big point out of it (and rightfully so). But I have never once heard anything from any manufacturer that explains why- it must be a huge cost factor or some kind of design element that they don’t want us to know, or don’t want the price increase on affordable knives. There was a time where many were using only T8 for body screws, but this was when the kizer sheepdog was released. I wish we’d go back to the “t8 only” sentiment. I have too many busted up t6 bits that are useless and I see companies that were using t8, now back to t6. I think it’s good that you vocalize your ideas and obvious frustration- we are of the same sentiment.

If you take a step back and look at budget knives as a whole, they all use smaller hardware. I honestly don't think that will ever change. Hell, its a good metric for purchasing new ones, T8+ or its not even considered.
My Pyrite started having blade play and I barely use it. Just fidget with it. That alone is enough for me to stay away from button locks.

Tighten the pivot back down. Probably all you need to do
@prtypeninja
9 ай бұрын
Throw some new loctite on it too. Sometimes companies don't loctite the pivots.. in that case any style folder can get play
Haha! That timing was impeccable 😂. Very unfortunate
Good on you for not hiding the failure 👏.
You got it on Video! What luck!!
Huh, my version passed the spine whack test. I've never experienced any issues from a Bestech knife. A real anomaly; perhaps that retaining ring was machined with poor tolerances.
This is soooo strange this same thing just happened to my cjrb pyrite this morning. Weird
This makes the Elementum look positively avant-garde.
I had the button pop out of my Vosteed Corgi. In that case though, the button itself was threaded and had just come unscrewed. I was able to screw it back on and it's been fine since. Still some BS. A little vertical blade play too.
Damn, that's unfortunate, cause i love the design. The rare dud is going to slip through even from the best companies, but that makes it so much more of a bummer when it does happen.

It's indicative of a GAP in the design and QC
borkborkbork aside, I'm sorely tempted by this one and I already have way too many nice D2 pocket knives...
The fact you avoided cutting yourself,when that lock failed. 😅
Same thing happened to me with the Vosteed Thunderbird. Very disappointed because the knife seemed really nice
kinda looks like there is space for those or that metal ring to move outwards and allow the button meck to slide out. ,
I do own the very same model, even in the same colour. No problem so far.
I wonder if the pivot holes are out of tolerance.
OK MC, where did you get your metal glove? We want to know! 🙏🤠
Nice vid. Where you bought that stubby screwdriver kit? Thanks
That was absolutely glorious 🤣🤣
Good job 👏
Please give us an update from Bestech if you have communication with them! Thanks, MC!
That is a solid 10 on the slap
What video had the other two knives that failed on the button lock?
you put the infinity gauntlet on 😆
This happened to me on a Kizer Original xl.
Hopefully this issue gets worked out, it seems like a pretty good knife.

We have checked this issue again and found a way to solve this problem.
We needed to know that!
Hello. I've a same problem with my goodboy... The button come out if you open knife "fast".
Interesting. Sometimes I think it’s harder for knife makers to make a quality budget folder than it is for a more expensive folder if that makes sense. I feel for Bestec, I’m sure they meant well. See ya Complex.
I love my Goodboy. I have not had this happen, but I am going to try and break it. Just to be safe.
Im thinking that little ring is in backwards.The button is pushing it out.
Very interesting. Good looking knife, too bad that yours broke. Hopefully that's just a dud and not an engineering/design failure. Glad you didn't get hurt!
i really want to like Bestech but ive heard their qc is lackluster depending one the model and this definitely doesn't help.
Watching this while flipping my Pro Tech Mordax 😁

@@sterlingstoots3215Glad you got one! I have the black in Magnacut but also got the blue (S45VN) from BHQ, funny enough I sold the Spyderco smock to fund it. lol
"This feels like a pretty good buy, right off the bat" The knife: sorry but I have to surprise you real quick.
Holy timing batman....
I definitely gotta get a pair of those wicked gloves
Thanks ... Great QC.
Finally some action! 🤣
I like the skinny clip
My vosteed corgi did the same thing
I wonder if Keanu is watching this, while absolutely losing his shit.
Too Funny MC, almost like a staged funny, are you grifting us 😂 Thanks MC 😎
My man pulled out a platemail gauntlet.
O% lockup😂 Someone was feeling bad running the machine on that batch of 200.
Very very interesting.
Wowzers
I'm guessing that's going into a pouch on Friday...
Ruh Roh 🐶
Dang... I really like the look of that knife, too! Wtf
I’ve never had any confidence in button locks. Any lock mechanism can fail, but cross bar, slip joint, back lock and a well engaged liner lock are my preferences. And having several knives already in this style and size, the unique coloring just doesn’t grab my attention.
@myhandlewastakenandIgaveup

Having had every crossbar lock I have ever owned break a spring within the first 7 months means I no longer buy them at all. I love button locks and didn't know the mechanism could break.
@joshstarkey8883
9 ай бұрын
I think a well done button lock is probably more secure than a liner lock, and way more convenient, unfortunately it seems like manufacturers also have more trouble with consistency and QC with them. Hopefully Bestech or the retailer will offer a refund or replacement. For what it's worth I have both liner and button locks from CIVIVI I've spine whacked, and none of them so much as budged.
@ryansmock2717

It's crazy to me that people think a crossbar lock with omega springs is more reliable than any coil spring lock. This was a design flaw, not a button lock issue.
@joshstarkey8883
9 ай бұрын
I broke an omega spring on my first benchmade. It's a very strong lock but that's not the same as being reliable long term.
@wesb123

My Pyrite-ALT will pass the spine whack test all night long. The issue here is on the manufacturer and not the reliability of a correct plunge lock.
Wait is this why im gettin a free goodboy from blade Hq when my next order comes in since it was over $165 😩
Very nice video
Recall, I smell a recall..😮
Watch the sales of this version go through the roof so fans can have the knife that broke on MC!!
So much for the testing division 😂
Just to satisfy my curiosity as I’m watching this on a small device - is there any visible deformation of the button?
"He's a Good Boy, he don't bite" Meanwhile: Cupcake, the Decimator is here to claim your fingers
that hole is cut out just a tad to big the button lock flys out on some hard opening
Integrity... good man. This is why we love you. #nohomo
That sucks. Also looks like the Pivot on the show side is not seated properly. Bestech needs to get on that quality control ASAP.
My vosteed thunderbird seizes up and locks closed every 3rd or fourth deployment..only to re open using the button..every other deployment option being futile..any thoughts..?? anyone..?
@Spthomas47
9 ай бұрын
I had a pyrite(kickstarter version) that had button freeze and seemed to have some deployment, er, disinterest? when I got it. Let it ride for about a week to see if it would work itself out. Ended up taking it a part, cleaning, oiling and resembling taking care everything tightened down uniformly/square. That stopped all deployment issues for me. Still a tiny bit of lock stick, but not in a way that bothers me.
It will not break! ~opens normally~ It broke
First time I've seen that with a buttonlock... it was trying to bite you
Button (does not) lock. Rip.
Well done Bestechman.............
Everyone wants a budget knife until it decides to "budget".
Wow.
OSHA loves you M.C.!
