That's the problem with history, there are only 365 days that important events can possibly happen on. With a couple Millennia at this point of recorded history across the word, it's inevitable that there will always be more noteworthy things on any given day that could ever be covered in a 15 minute video. The good news is that there will still be plenty for the History Guy to choose from to discuss in a video for every date next year. 😀 👍

I think your channel is awesome! I can always count on finding something interesting to watch on it when I want to sit down for a few minutes and do some mending or something. This morning I was thinking about The Jazz Singer and Singing in the Rain, wondering how much of what was portrayed in the latter actually happened around the time the former was first released. I also wondered how many stage actors and actresses successfully successfully made the transition to movies because of issues portrayed in the latter. I don't know if you've already done an episode on any of that, but if you have maybe you could dress it up and present it for the centennial for the release of The Jazz Singer since, I believe, that's not many years away now

I remeber late 80's before Gps was a thing for the public, some of the original military satellites were going to fail. The govt didnt want to pay to replace them. The military had something new and they thought civilian use was limited and wouldnt justify replacement costs. So the system would stop working within a year or two. Wonder what ever happened with that...

79 years ago today, the stunned surviving residents of Dresden, Germany were coming out of their cellars and bomb shelters to survey the near total devastation of their city, and look for relatives and friends, dead or alive. The raid had begun at 10:03 PM the night before, with the first of three waves of bombers, totaling over a thousand airplanes. The first two waves were comprised of British Mosquitos and Lancaster bombers, which attacked at night. The third after dawn wave on the 14th was American B-17s, normally used for daylight "precision" bombing. Dresden was essentially destroyed. An estimated 25,000 died. Postwar reconstruction has restored many of the historic structures, including the Frauenkirche, and continues to this day.
