I know Jess isn’t all that comfortable talking on camera but talk or no talk she’s amazing and talented. Both of you are a great team and very creative

Jess seems to be comfortable in front of the camera. She's practiced for close to five years. Maybe it's the content not so much the presence.
Since your pipes are above ground right now you could make a box like structure around them add some insulation to the top and make it removable and the pile some dirt and rocks along the sides of the box to help keep the pipes warm and the critters out of it. It would also help keep them fed getting damaged by thi ga dropping on them you could even put a bigger box where the shutoff valves are.

That's exactly what I thought. If someone accidentally steps on the joint or pipe it could crack. Or the javelinas could trample on them. At least support the PVC pipe from below with stones or wood.

I agree. No matter the size, one needs to keep em from freezing. Ice is strong.
Jess's scuba diving in the desert was hilarious 😅
Jess is an artist with all that cobbing…. The pipes look awesome. The poll barn is taking shape!!😊

Jess did a great job painting the door entrance of the house. Uncommon instincts. The sign of a great artist. Kudos!
It wouldn’t hurt to have a shut off valve on your feed lines Jim.❤️✝️
westport wa.state here you are two very brave souls. you are what america is about. i am 66 yrs old and have had 4 strokes. and have done about everything there is to do. redid houses that should have been burned to the ground. you can do this be as if every day is your last. there will always be another day. give time to smell the flowers every day.
Definitely cover your PVC, the sun isn’t very nice to it, it will get brittle and break.
I am so pleased for the pair of you.
I dont know of it was suggested, but build a box around that outlet, insulate it and it would protect it from getting stepped on or the dog digging aroud it. Just a thought, I really enjoy you guys and your progress!

AZ Sun eats PVC.
I think you'll be surprised how fast those pole structures go up in good hands. Great job on the plumbing AND the cobbing! 👍🏻👍🏻
Very creative way to plug the tank to fix the leak. Great way of working smarter not harder
Looking fantastic. Always impressed with your tenacity and conviction to succeed.
You have a beautiful wife, you two are perfect together. Thanks for such nice videos.
Great idea Jim. Jessica you have super powers!
Thats a great repair. Maybe put a raised bed of small plants like beans or something seasonal to keep dogs from digging there and reason to keep it weeded and rodents out of there and insulated a bit in cold weather. ?? Win win win.
You folks are making a lot of progress.
I know how important water is for your family. I think you had a genius idea plugging the drain to fix the leak. So happy you didn't lose your supply. 👍
Great job, brilliant plug, only suggestion would have been burying the pipes approximately 6-12 inches underground. If not, add another valve (with a tee) at the end so that the pipes can be drained before next freeze season. Since the pipes are above ground, If possible angle the pipes downward slightly to drain the water completely out.

You're right. Just bury the pipes a little bit A friend I know uses gravity water tank 10k gallon. For shut off 500 feet from tank the valve is underneath or inside a hollow tree log round w/straw inside
Sorry for the lost of your water. Next winter you will be in your house. Keep up the good work. ❤

Thank you!
It’s taking shape! Very exciting!❤
A way to set the poles, for pole barns is a foot of cement, at the foot, and fill it up with post setting foam.
Hey Jim, you did a good job on the ball valves. Just a suggestion, I might have put a compression fitting after the ball valves in case you wanted to move some of the piping. That plug was genius!! Thanks much for sharing.
It amazed me how your love and patience has already amended the antisocial and crazy behavior of you adopted dog. I honestly thought she wasnt going to be able to be rehabilitated and relax and play without frenzy
Hey you guys looking good I hope you're feeling better today young lady just smile and the love and the light of the one true creator we love you and bless you
Glad you got the water fixed and now you don't have to worry about it anymore !! Making progress is all you can do everyday !! Like you have been doing !!
Thanks you two, it's great to see your progress. Jess, those walls are looking real nice, smooth yet textured. We enjoy watching your journey.
get a couple cement utility boxes to protect the valves
Looks good. Next time I would suggest to put in some unions or union ball valves.
Good thinking! Its happening! Great job!
Now sometimes I watch Trekkers hiking around in ancient First Nation areas and there are structures that are squared with the stones that they found and the mud they use as mortar. That's thousands of years old and it's still there. That takes strength and cooperation which you both have and I really admire your commitment. you have great talent and intelligence doing this.
He's right, that was does look fantastic. Good job! And good job on the water pipes, too.
Well done!
y’all’s project is awesome. i just bought some land and i want to start building my own home.
Wow yes try to save the water hope to see the complete results soon
So many awkward moments...Jim, youre a good man
Great looking wall, Jess. I’m envious of your cheerleader! My family mantra, now to you both…”Great job, keep going!” Personally, I need that reminder in the middle of some jobs, so sending just in case you all do, too! ✌🏼❤️
Jim and Jess, Great repair on the water tanks without losing your 💧 water! I'll give you an A+! Keep that stopper somewhere safe. (Good investment for $2.00.) You both are brave to take on the job yourselves! 😅 God bless you both, your family, and your pets, as always.
KOOL IDEA FOR REPAIRING THE TANK LEAK... WELL DONE JIM. BUSY BUSY BUSY ON THE OL HOMESTEAD... ENJOY THE MILD DAYS AHEAD... BE BLESSED YA ALL!😄😄😄🙏🙏👍👍
Brilliant idea for water stop. I learn so much from you both. Thank you, so greatful for all you do. ❤😊
Your little compound is shaping up more and more! So admirable, I love watching your videos, you both work so well together materializing your beautiful little dream home! I can’t wait to see your development in about 10 years! 👍🏼👍🏽👍🏼👍🏽👍🏼👍🏽♥️🙏 I find Jess’s shyness to be such a beautiful quality, her inner beauty glows! You are so good for each other!
Congrats on the plumbing repair. Really expert. Blessings to you both. I think your choice to start from scratch and solve problems one at a time is going to help others in this country right now.
Ingenious way to save your water. The inside of your house is looking great.
Great idea on the tub stopper
Nice progress guys!👍😎
So much for self-reliance
Nice.
Once you two figured out what you wanted to do with the other part of your house build, you just jumped on it and busted out a lot of progress.
Keep 1 of the totes closed, if it's not needed. That way if you spring a leak, it will only affect 1 of the totes.
I really like the sound tracks you choose. Instrumental soooo much better than the weird vocals some channels use.
From what I've seen your action to plug the outlet pipe from inside the tank, you lost very little water; superb plan & job! Super smart way to do it!
Monday morning treat for me here!
Darn my favorite show is over! See you next weekend
Very cleaver to use the water pressure itself to seal it.
Your Kangel is just like ours! She likes to lean on us too 😂
Consider Building a box on top of the pipes to protect them against a freak break.
Pole barns are fast to build, and very strong. I like em 👍👍 I like the roofing tin all away around on the roof, and all down the sides. top to bottom. That the strongest of all siding. better than cement. For insulation is> to cob the inside walls, WOULD DO NICELY 👍👍 You would have to use some chicken wire to hold the cob in about 4 to 6" thick should work nice
Watching you stand next to your poly tanks , made me wonder what temp is the water in them , if they make good thermal battery banks , if you made a shed with the tanks being a wall on the sunny half in the sun , if it could keep a room warm ?
great save on the poly-tank guys 😅 🎉🎉🎉

Good morning hope everybody's having a great day out there and I'll stay out of the animals have a great day and just have fun and just enjoy your life hey Jess how you doing hope everything is okay we miss you guys but keep up the good work we're proud of you both of you keep keep up the good work
Y'all are getting things done. Just like usual i can't wait for the next steps. It'll be great to see tge progress.
Flexible hoses make more resilient connections to tanks. PVC is very fragile.
Wow you guys! Such a productive week! Love watching you guys.
Wow, great progress
Looking good on that pipe repair and the start of the poles going in....can't wait for the next video !!!
💗🙏🏼💗 Howdy J & J Thank you both for allowing us into your lives. I appreciate your keeping us informed of the homestead build progress. Much love to you both, crew , euvia and your other critters. 🙏🏼💗🙏🏼 Stay Blessed 🍃 We Love You.
Speaking of plumbing. I got huge plumbing projects coming up real soon! Time to roll up my sleeves. Spring is here! Nice male House Finch singing at minute 9:54.
Brilliant solution of using that tub stopper to prevent your poly tank from bleeding out. Practical efficient and I will put you in for the bright idea of the year award. Wolfmama
Glad the pipe issue is resolved ! Well done
Congrats on your pipes repair, now you're good to go on the house build.Give us an update on Crew on the next video(Don't leave him out😊)
The new water line looks great. You should bury as much of that line as possible to protect it and a valve cover over the new ball valves and ball valve on the line going off to wherever. I’m sure you’re doing this. You know more than anyone how hash the sun is
Great job fixing your leak !!!!!
Yeah, Jess is really patient. The cob is always neatly done. ❤
Looking good!
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you guys, maybe build a wooden chest around your water pipe by the water tanks so you can isolate them and protect them.
Watching this pole barn project got my head going. I’m five feet up on 12’ sand bag ? Wall ? At this point. Hope to roof it some day as a “ shed” or better. Pole barn in theory sounds like a simpler build
You need 2' wooden stakes driven into the ground at the base of your braces along side of them and then two screws from the stakes to the brace. If not the braces will move. Also the top of your braces need to about 3/4 of the way to the top of the post and on a 45* angle, with stakes at the bottom to keep them from moving. The short braces will be to easy to be moved and then the post will be out of plumb.
Sorry about the water but at least you got it fixed! Can't wait for the next video 💜
You're awesome Jess. You both work well together ❤
Jim. You are like me.. Always thinking I should be wearing gloves.. Sometimes I get them halfway in and sometimes not. 😂 Good jobs on everything coming along ❤
You all are making great progress!!! Small point, if you sharpen those post cross braces on one end and drive them at about the same angle as now, you can use only 2 per post, and they are a lot more stable to keep your posts PLUMB if you are pulling strings or pouring concrete. They also allow you to make small adjustments by tapping on the braces with a hammer.
Need a fence so it won't get stepped on.😊
Nice job, little lady on the cob work! You are such a patient worker
Stopped a major loss of water, got a lot of cob done and got a mess of post in. That's a pretty good amount of progress from my perspective.
Been looking forward to this all week!!
SO SMART !!! GREAT WORK!
Much better with the ball valves right near the tank. Now, just be sure you have those pipes insulated enough to prevent freezing !! You can insulate the pipes directly using the proper products or you can build a nicely insulated box around them since they are right about at ground level. Any case, BE SURE you have them adequately protected to avoid additional failures.
need to wrap them pipes and valves good they will freeze and break just as easy as the llitt;e pipe I have had a 2 inch valve break. So glad that you guys went with a different building method It should go up faster maybe you can have it dried in , in a few months time
Great work…you guys are getting a lot done now, looking good !
Thanks so much for sharing your personal life. My husband and I have a lot in common with you both. I deal with everything physically that you do except autism. My husband also is my rock. He is funny and so supportive. We also have a KZread channel. I'm ashamed because I also thought you didn't want to be out in bfe. We moved to a small town in Baja Mexico and you are both welcome as our guests anytime. Take care❤
u can get 3 water valve covers and then u could just put 12" of dirt on that pipe. frost lines 12" here
hope yu plan to put the framing on those posts to square them good, Before you put in the concrete.
PVC cement seals pipes instantly...at least in a couple of minutes. You should not need to wait overnight to make the connection solid. PVC cement is actually not a glue but more of a welding agent. It melts the pvc locally so the to be joined surfaces fuse together. This process takes seconds and is permanent and irreversible. Another tip is regarding the two pvc cement containers. Many people have tipped one or both over but if you duct tape them together the chances of either misplacing one of them and tipping the set over (in the field) is very small....
Love your passion and dedication. Great job❤❤❤
Better get that crappy white PVC covered. PVC and sun don't mix well. Never buy PVC that's stored outside. I've now started using sch 80 instead of that 40.
Great job on the homestead
Walls are looking great!
I would cover that pvc pipe as it isn't uv tolerant You could even use bags and cob and then put a metal removable roof on it. Also you could add some heat tape for cold weather
Great job on the plug. I prob woulda pumped it all into the sistern. Then pumped it outa there as needed till the poly tanks filled up again.
Good Idea on plugging the tanks..I'm going to remember that one!! We use pex after the ball valve on ours and it has been great since pex expands instead of popping.
..............Sending love
