I can't believe someone finally made something like this! 4 SATA ports on board, powerful ARM CPU, lots of connectivity. I was about to pick up an Odroid H3+, but this is way more interesting!
@demirmahir
Жыл бұрын
Not sure what your use case is and what you're planning on doing with it, but the H3+ is more future proof given that it runs a better processor, 2.5G ethernet ports, up to 64GB ram, and it comes from a more trustworthy company. The H3+ is also an x86 board which means you don't need a specific ARM build that this no-name Chinese company has to publish and support (for probably 6 months until the next product they try to sell) or rely on some Armbian build.
Hmmm... First great video. In regards to the case. I just wished they had a way to mount 4 ssd 2.5 inch from the start even if they had to make it a little wider. I think that was a BIG missed opportunity. I mean the bracket would be nice if it fit 4 drives. Too bad they didn't give that to you.
that thing is neat. especially the IO
Super interesting videos - as usual :) - a question I have on my mind, can one dual boot android/linux on a Rockchip RK3588 system, or does one have to wipe an OS to run the other ? (intended there's enuff space to instal both - with or without any extra SSD.) - planning on getting one RK. sbc, thanks
This looks ideal for what I've been looking for: something cheap but itx form factor to basically build a custom NAS (Some nice reasonable-priced itx flex cases can now be found easily on places like Amazon so if Debian works then it's probably very straight-forward to run Truenas Scale on it) since it has just enough CPU power, dual NICs, 4 SATA ports, dual M.2 slots and a free pci-e. Now It will only be missing perhaps being able to add a GPU for something like NVEC but since it has '8k output' I'm assuming the integrated gpu has at least some acceleration to offload a bit of transcoding tasks. So if you do follow up videos a dedicated NAS set up would be nice to see.

something "cheap" i think you have been smoking something :P The board alone is 459.00
Wow, this is cool.
HDMI in , SATA, PCIe ....man perfect NAS build...even caching SSDs...does it support HBAs?
This could be an excellent home server NAS/Router
The open source drivers for this chip aren't finished yet, so you'd have to run their kernel on it.
Can you expand the SATA ports on their board at all with pcie or something similar
I want to kno power consumption. idle( hdd span down if attached) active and during youtube playback
Do you meybe have a video explaining about the difference between a server and a Nas?
sadly intel refurb boxen still are much easier and more value than this but a glimpse of things to come for sbc - sbc and arm are leveling up - the low power req are a big bonus cause you may want to run several of these in proxmox cluster for easy scaling - consumers are waiting for a default popular champion to emerge in this segment and we will see much more demand at that point - hopefully there will be wide availability and volume production unlike pi boards which are tough to get and subject to ripoff prices hikes
How can I record 2 or 3 channels iptv live streaming to LINOD? Because OBS studio record 1 stream !!!
please mention power consumption
Other than being ARM this could be amazing as a home NAS sipping power yet still able to power 3.5" drives. I'm floored. Most setups only support 5V 2.5" drives and most do NOT have pciex expansion and most don't have nvme with an expansion and certainly not 4 SATA ports. You REALLY need to make a video that includes: 1. connectx 10Gbe sfp+ card 2. nvme cache 3. constant throughput saturating the 10Gbe link 4. power consumption idle and load PLEASE!! Also I could NOT find the link to buy or the product on their website
I really want to make a distro for this and call it Spark Linux
Does Jellyfin run well on it or are the drivers not working yet for hardware acceleration?
@NovaspiritTech
Жыл бұрын
Hardware acceleration seems to work fine, I was able to run 3d benchmark in Ubuntu
Does anybody know how he's showing a gui through proxmox's console?
Can is use this device as plex server with debian or other os ?
this is what you want to host alphafold db
🤷🏼♂️ basically a Celeron mITX comes at a fraction of the cost, is still upgradeable and cheaper. That should be enough to save some headache from missing software support and probably runs at the same cost of ownership, if not cheaper. Or an used business PC. It's sad that those ARM PCs come with prices that actually beat gaming consoles, at a fraction of the power.
The front of the case is an absolute clone of a fractal design case :)

I literally thought the same thing when I first glanced it
Amd 5700g with 32gb of ram, 1gb & a 2.5gb Ethernet port, 28 watts with a Windows 10 vm running, home assistant vm and several dockers, 5 hd drives, asleep at moment. Loads more headroom when needed!
what is the power consumption (avg/idle) of this machine ?
@NovaspiritTech
Жыл бұрын
i will get that in the future, i wanted to able to get both power from no hdd and with hdd, but the 4x 3.5.

@@NovaspiritTech please can't wait... also can't find the product on their website
AAAAND its probably costing afew thousand EDIT: its not even available in my country Lmao
Thats pricey SBC at near $700
Their web site is poor, so I couldn't find the exact price of this product, but others appear overpriced. I'm not seeing the value of what they offer over x86 for the home server market, especially given the availability of cheap low-power Jasper Lake Celeron boxes with 4-5 Intel NIC's and expandable RAM (SODIMM slots), as well as M.2 NVMe and SATA storage. So much more mature software for the x86 (64bit) platforms. And if you're budget constrained, buying used x86 on ebay is an option, even if it isn't necessarily low power. Apart form the RPi4 - at the original MSRP, not current scalper prices - I still don't find arm that compelling.
Your intro song is the same or very similar to kzread.info

haha yeaaa but i had it on my channel longer then him. what's werid is that the song has to be edited to sound like mine 🤔
You dropped the web site for them )) I personally see no reason to purchase this brick-style case when there are many mac mini-like cases on ebay. They allow to mount one 3.5 hard drive which can be replaced with 2x2.5 (or 2xm2) mounting rack with either built-in raid, or with making a software raid. For a personal server this is enough. For a NAS you will need a good ventilation and an easy access any way. I don't care this is ARM because I see no benefits comparing to a low wattage Intel/AMD in such configuration. PS Besides, I paid an attention on their other boards. They trace address/data lines in a topmost PCB layer. That's noob's solution. All such connections must be made inside a board between ground panes. These are not reliable products.
Why did they not use a AMD 3950X

No pricing. Not available.
Why present this, while it is not available, it can not be ordered, and it is unclear it will ever be 'in the shops'? I think it would be better to present this as 'an interesting project, that may or may not be available at some point'. Alternatively: wait till it is clear this product WIIL / HAS made it to market and is available.
24fps does not look smooth
Who uses VGA today ;)
