THIS COMMON PROBLEM MADE MY A3 8P UN-DRIVABLE!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Surely the last of the problems for the A3? Ever since I got this car I have had a list of things that needed doing to get it up to scratch, the ABS sensor being the last thing on the list. Tune in to find out whether this simple sensor can start making the car shift gear properly and get it running just as it should.

So glad that worked out for you, I’d have never thought a wheel speed sensor would effect gear changes, I thought it would be based on engine performance.

In February of this year I bought a 2008 A3, still with the EA113 engine and manual transmission. I already knew that the car was a little temperamental, but I didn't know it was that much, the car was parked in the garage for 5 months until I could get it to work. The image I got of this car is that it was a beta version of what would become the A3 the following year, already equipped with the EA888.

Hi mate, I have a 1.6 tdi a3 sports back 5 door, have you ever had any issues with over revving on idle? I changed the MAF sensor and changed the air filter, I thoight the air intake pipe was cracked or damaged, it made a hissing noise so I used thick duck tape on the air intake pipe, the hissing noise is now gone but it's still over revving on idle, any help would do... Thank you so much, p. S ur content is awesome!! Keep it up

Hello friend... I saw your problem and I couldn't stop thinking... were you able to solve it? I have an A3 1.6 BSE engine manual with 102 hp sportback year 2008 with 234 thousand km and I changed the piston rings, repaired the camshaft, changed the oil tappets, changed the clutch, the coil cables, the spark plug gaskets, the oil pump, among many other things... all things. of good quality... that is, I left it almost new and it continues to cause a fault, the light appears on the ESP dashboard and sometimes it goes away on its own... that's one thing, but sometimes it makes small explosions in the intake manifold, the plastic part which is located at the top... and that part also has rubber gaskets or rubber seals. I changed those... it works better for me but I think something may have gone wrong when we reassembled the engine... you have been able to find out what was happening to you. car?

I've blown 2 motors in my a3 wagon. 1st doing 130 blew timing belt. 2nd motor had rust in cylinder blew that one 120mph. The second was warranty. But the 3rd was acting up. Told my old man I thought it was cam follower. He told me the motor to new its not that. So we replaced low pressure fuel pump, fuel filter, relayes, fuses, sensors, everything. Kept telling me to junk it the tranny bad. Was the cam follower. But now break light coming on and rear caliper hanging up. Into this car so much but got an 08 for 3k in 2017 with 120k. They are selling 5k for 08 with 200k in 2024. The car is beat. I have fenders need to put on. Got into cash. Need to fix fan blade. Has blue bumper and hood on grey car. Gonna paint this spring myself. Have spoiler to put on. Dad cut the ac line. Need to see if someone can weld aluminum and need a new condenser. Just want to fix it and get rid of it and buy another with manual and quattro.

@@EdwardDintsi-mb8nw is it only at cold start for maybe 10-30 seconds and than the idle becomes stable and shaking stops? If so, you can try to remove the airfilter and clean the MAF sensor. You can check if the sensor is the problem by unplugging it (should be near or along the air filter box inside the pipe, or directly behind the filter in the pipe and starting the car. If the idle is stable and no shaking appears, then the MAF might be dirty or faulty.

Sometimes while maintaining the same speed it will go from 5th to 4th back to fifth. Downshifting is very last minute stays in 6th gear and then downshifts to 2nd very very quickly and won’t go into 1st gear unless I come to a complete stop. Hi I had the same issue in my A3 tdi it’s a common issue, your problem is your gearbox shifter Selector you need either replace it with an upgraded one such as a short shifter which you can pick up from eBay or else where I bought a forge motorsport one the best one in my opinion well worth the money transformed my car. Oem will cost you silly money I wouldn’t bother. Darkside developments do them too for around £60 or so which is an s3 one which gives an oem plus feel. They all fit along as it’s the 6 speed variant. It takes around 30 mins to fit at home. The shifter is under the oem airbox the one where the linkages fit on to. Any issues let me know cheers
