So the cheap MK5 Golf GTI failed at the first hurdle. We didn't even manage to get it on the road and we have already been knocked back by this annoying problem. Great job, an easier way that I hope helps your viewers... centre cap off, driveshaft nut off, wheel off, a long extension with a triple square and undo the 6x bolts from the shaft gearbox end, with the wheel turned you can drop that end out the cup and then pop the driveshaft out the hub. This avoids snapping pesky ball joint bolts and needing wheel alignment. Then you can work on the driveshaft in a vice on the bench. Also, better to put the grease into the CV bearing than into the boot. Good content. Thanks.

Not the first person to say grease into the cv rather than the boot, at least I know for next time 👌🏼 thanks for watching and getting involved, always nice to know an easier way for next time 😂

Brilliant video. Only failing on 2 CV boots-I'd call that a win. Top job fixing it yourself. I always regretted selling my mk5 GTI, they are excellent cars and I can't think of anything better for the money. Can't wait to see what you get up to in yours. Detail next?

Could be worse couldn’t it! The nib was daunting but surprisingly easy after all! As long as they don’t fail again any time soon I will be happy 😂 I wish a detail, probably a clutch 🥲
Recently found your channel. Like you I love my Edition 30 too. CV boots are a pain as they fail regularly on these, I've just done mine. Don't take this the wrong way but you are best packing the actual cv with grease and not packing the boot itself. Look forward to future uploads.

Yeah not ideal is it, thats why I made sure to fit genuine parts! Ahh I didn’t know that, hopefully they don’t fail again but if they do I will try it that way!
Silver wheels look great, I share you pain as I live between two farms so for seven months of the year there's little point in trying to keep a car mint!

Thanks mate, definitely think the silver wheels work the best. May get some darker track wheels though! Yes not too much point keeping them clean but I try my best in the summer 😂

What about the misfire??? When you bought it it had one and you were worried about oil cap, did you fix it??? I'm assuming it wouldn't go through MOT with misfire?

Looking like its not misfiring but just a lumpy idle, passed all mot with flying colours so maybe an inlet/injector clean on the cards

13000? Or 130,000? If 13000 that's extremely low for a Mk5.

Only marked on the inside these ones mate 👍🏼 they are stock wheels
