Thank you April!! I’m will be a new 3rd grade classroom teacher for the following school year. I’ve been thinking heavily about classroom community and behavior management and went to Yourube for help. Then wahlah you appeared. Thanks so much for this video😊

Every Friday each student writes a thank you note to the class “teacher’s pet” for that week. I use it to help me with finding writing common mistakes but really it builds relationships. Each student gets 28 letters that each talk about why they are liked and what is great about them. I do read each one before putting them all together for the student to take home, just in case.

Thank you! I am excited to try this with my students. We start our year with a SS unit on Community. Last fall, I had the students help me create a class pledge that we recited each morning following the Flag Salute. They did such an impressive job working together to come up with a beautiful, meaningful message. Their pledge was a tool I was able to refer to any time we had behavior issues.

Thank you so much for sharing! I look forward to using this using this resource during the first week of school. I taught reading in the past, so typically I would use read alouds and activities that go along for community building. This year I will be teaching writing, science, and SS, so I am excited to have a new activity!

Thank you for this! I was concerned about finding a new way to build a classroom community at the new school where I will be teaching. Bigger class sizes than I am used to. This should be a great beginning for the year.

You’re so welcome! Since you can group students for the game, it’ll be easy with larger class sizes. We always had 30-35 students, which is way too many. So, most of the resources I create keep that in mind. Have a great year!!
