I gotta say that I love the pace of this series, its kind of a throwback to the old way of making youtube videos, nothing scripted or prepared in advance, no cuts or edits on the video and just vibes. You don't see that often anymore and it makes for a good video to watch while eating lol. keep it up !

Instead of building more houses on the back side of that hill, you should build a couple over the bridge near the stone mine, that way people will live close enough to it to work there. But keep them close to the bridge otherwise they will be too far from the market to buy their food.

The well over by the chicken and pig area should be designated for industry use only, that way people won't use it up for drinking water.

Personal experience. Ploughs don't help. They need oxen to pull them, and only increase the speed of sowing a little. Farms I keep to 6 fields. I would push the Forestry out further into the forest. That means creating an new one and demolishing the old one. Shortens the route for forestry workers. Or you can get them to plant new trees, nearby. At this stage, looking at what is perishing, I would create a tannery, to turn the cow hides into leather. Also sheep hides into sheepskin for warm clothes, but they need broadcloth too. A fulling mill to turn wool into broadcloth is pretty easy though.

@Jules_Diplopia Julie, what is your experience with field schedules getting out of sync? I am encountering this a lot. Based on my limited testing, a fallow field only recovers 80%. I believe that grazing raises it more but it also appears that plowing raises it as well, perhaps making up the missing 20%. Could be wrong, but it appears that missing a plowing due to dead oxen starts a chain of events that can end up changing my planting schedule. So I think plowing does more than speed up sowing.

To expand on my earlier post, A Beards Quest told me "A ploughed field reduces the nutrient consumption by 1/5th and adds +15% to a field's nutrients across the board after plowing each spring"

@@tmg7476 Probably correct, under perfect circumstances. But if you have 6 fields per farm 2 sunflower, 2 flax, 2 fallow, that is usually sufficient. The crucial aspect is to have enough labour to get the field sown. As with many games of this type, there are multiple ways to get the results you want. Min-maxing is fine if you want to do that. But I prefer to overproduce wherever possible, and Ostriv is great for that as you can sell your surplus to other towns, usually.

You should definitely get a plow for your fields. It looks like you are struggling getting them all sown in time for maximum crop yields. even just 1 ox with plow per farm will make a big difference.

As it was pointed out to me, choosing between hemp and flax, flax gives you the added benefit of linseed for chicken feed. Now I haven't tested output yet (how much flax vs. hemp in same field size... I would maintain the 2 farms you have, but add 2 plow teams at each. They should add nutrients back in between plantings and extend usage. Then with the Farm Manager you can pre-plan cycles that allow 1 fallow field per farm per year for the animals, associating the sheep to the 2nd farm's fields. Also, the iron ore won't leave the Trader until it is no longer a line item in the list. As long as it is listed, the Trader will hang on to it. "Pork, my favorite vegetable ever!" 🤣🤣

I'm not there yet myself, but I assume at the tannery, and if so might need lime (from the Trader) and bark, and takes 6 months. Go to the Help button (lower left) and scroll down to Tannery. Unfortunately it doesn't specifically mention sheepskin or sheep hides, so shooting in the dark here. You do it first, I'll learn from your mistakes. Good luck! 🤣

@@Skibitth Slaughterhouse turns the sheepies into meat and hides. The Tannery turns the hides into skins. Remember, tanneries need bark from your forestry, salt from your saltworks, and lime from your limeworks so it is really a complex chain unless you can buy the materials. 3 traders offer lime, 2 offer salt, but no one sells bark.

You need a tannery to turn the cow hides into leather. But you need lime for the tannery. And the lime making process is incredibly long. I watched another lets player make his own lime and it took something like 3 years just to gather the limestone (same map and similar starting position as you). You might be better off just buying the lime you need for the time being. shoes made from leather can be very profitable. Probably even if you are importing the lime to make the leather.

@Skibitth 1 leather costs 25 and makes 2 shoes which sells for 32 each, so that is a very profitable exchange. I don't know how much the lime costs in trade, and I don't know howuch likenis needed to tan a single hidenor how much leather a single hide makea, but odds are thatbis efen kore profitable. Especially since you are getting the hides for free. But that does take more labor (to staff the tannery), so you may not be ready for that yet.
