I'm confused as to why the enemy couldn't have just moved their Immortal down to get in the Cardinal's way, considering the Infiltrator can't go through obstacles. Edit: Forgot about Tyler's relic allowing the Cardinal to go over enemy pieces, so that's why, nevermind.

Prince protect white’s king, cardinal smother mated black’s king with the jump relic. It also attack the only one escape square the king have.

I think itd be cool if there was a piece that gained extra movement spaces when being threatened by another piece

16:10 that gorgon is a really interesting piece to me. the fact that it debuffs both your own and your enemy's pieces really makes for some interesting tactics and interesting opportunities for counterplay such as Tyler's move here that is completely safe due to the immobilized pieces that ordinarily would have stopped the checkmate

Doesn't it depend on who has the opposition? If you have the opposition, then the knight king can checkmate the normal king, but with proper play (and I doubt this game's ai would play it properly), I think the normal can keep opposition and thus prevent checkmate if it starts with opposition.

4:46 this kind of thing is why mirror queen is good. You get more movement AND it can come back because it transformed!

Fun fact, the prince has an absurdly high value, so much so that black will sacrifice their final piece to get him. Also mounted king + prince is super op. If used properly you can ram the enemy king into a very bad place in 16 turns or less, super good for taking witches.

See, the ending could have you win from king vs king because you have the advantage of kights move that the ai doesnt

Loving this series.

Just realized that the agent pieces (X + L and *) are based off of the pieces they move like + moves cardinally like a rook forming a + X moves diagonally like a bishop forming an X * moves like a queen combining the X and + and L moves like a knight in an L shape

Playing this game as a chess expert is sometimes like a breath of fresh air! My calculation abilities that I gained from playing chess are pretty helpful for the new pieces, though, it is more difficult than regular chess. I love this game, it is by far the best chess rougelike, managing to be fun and still somewhat challenging even though I am really good at chess. I hope to see more of this game!!

As someone who loves watching chess (especially chess variants) but also doesn't have a high chess IQ: the highlighting of pieces you're talking about is amazing.

19:05 is GQd5 not just mate? GQ can't be taken, and it's a double check (and the king has nowhere to run)

19:02 there was check mater in one here. You could have checked the king, and there would have been 2 attackers, and one defender.

Just so you know, any piece will automaticly go for your prince if it is protecting the king. So that makes it an incredible lure for the bosses

I have a very op strat if you want to try it out. You only need an upgraded Assassin and the artifact that let every piece move like a king. This kinda trivialize the game as you can very easily 2-3 turns every fight.

Wasn't a bug with the teleporters, I'm pretty sure that, even with the prince, you can't swap into Check. And there was a Royal Guard that would be staring down your king had you swapped.

Yeah, the musketeer is pretty much what the catapult should have been from the beginning. But then again, it's probably inspired by the cannon in... I think it was chinese chess? The cannon there threw itself over other units as well.

9:08 Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Tyler just win? If he kills the bacteria (forgot it's name) with the infiltrator only the king can kill it and it wouldn't since that would kill itself, allowing Tyler to kill the knight and follow the king with the bacteria until he's able to kill it
