I love how much attention the game creators match the card abilities with the character’s in the actual story. Every card makes so much sense when you know the lore

Been waiting to play Black specifically for Black Beard! And it couldn’t be any cooler that he removes blacks key to winning with on play effects this is awesome

It is all going to depend on the support. If black gets some strong activate main, or when attacking cards. Then big swing in the meta, if the support is rubbish I can’t see this making a big splash.

What if, they make some cards that can negate leader effects, I know we have that 7c Zephyr, but he's characters only.

Black beard might need a bunch of blockers but as long as you keep attacking the leader the hand might diminish, but its all situational. I think red decks will overwhelm it.

Waaaay too soon for that. It just released in the manga and set 9 has been planned for months at this point I think that’ll happen in the 3rd anniversary set next year or in a return to egghead set

On play cards don't suddenly become bad because of Blackbeard, all he does is change their effect to "your opponent discards a card". That's still fine. Also, fully expecting the Blackbeard support to have characters with drawback on play effects that he negates.

Let's be 100% honest here yes its very cool. We finally got a BB leader, and it has a good ability, but besides that, he's in mono black, which isn't very strong atm besides SR Moira and Perona so lets hope that there are very strong supports for him in this set

I think prb red sanji counters him hard, basically BB leader has only the downside effect

Once we see the support we will have a better idea of how this will do

Probably gonna see a Buggy manga this set. Along with Buggy leader. At least I hope

I'd argue if you can out math your opponent, you will win every single match. Regardless if there's a single good skill for Blackbeard's crew cards. Literally this makes the game a numbers game. If you have higher power, you will win.

you act like he can do this every turn, that's not what will happen. you will probably use the leader ability only later into the game. unless he gets a lot of support to draw cards lol
