Big Cedar maintains that cedar decking is a sustainable option. If it’s responsibly harvested, I can get behind it as a carbon sink and non plasticized product. It’s important to note that Trex and other decking has a high recycled content, but isn’t as green as options like @theplasticlumberstore

The biggest takeaway from this clip - cedar needs to be sealed. We get moisture protection from the Linseed Oil and we get UV protection from the Pine Tar. These products are environmentally friendly, let wood breathe, and don’t peel, flake, or trap moisture like polyurethane.
